it appears to me that Mecca is the woman whom the scarlet beast carries. you can google it, just type "Mecca Seven Mountains". Check out what you find.

Mecca sits and is surrounded around seven mountains.

She persecutes the saints.

Today in Saudi Arabia: Five kings have fallen and one is.

Mecca's port is the richest city in the middle east and western asia.

the list goes on and on. just Google it!

Liz and all others of you antiJerusalem inspired, this idea is nothing more then a preparation of the great Armaggedon. all i know is many have today the seven hills in their hearts. (are there not seven deadly sins)? what i know is thatbefore i doubted, but after the poes slanderous attack against Israel, i believe that there is a verry big dangerr thatt it might be Rome, rome or Babel or Washington DC. maybe brussels or Hollywood LOL

**And at one time there were two popes one was in Rome and another was in Constantinople. Hmmmmmm I'm sure both were infallible in all they said about the church business!!!!!**

1. The Patriarch of Constantinople was NEVER called "pope."

2. Papal infallibility was not defined as a dogma until 1871 or so, and even then it ia strictly limited.

Other than these two egregious errors, your two sentences quoted here are correct.

Since the early days of Rome the city referred to as the "city on seven hills" was Rome. it has been called that throughout history.

You stopped reading too quick. The answer is contained right in the next verse. Revelation 17:10 "and they are seven kings, five have fallen, one is, the other has yet to come.

Five have fallen - Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, Medes/Persians, Greece.
One is - Rome
Yet to come - Anti-Christ

At the time Revelations 17:3, 6, 7, 9, 18 were written, the people would have understood it to be Rome. The early Protestants thought most of these symbols pointed to Roman Catholicism.

Rome. When John wrote the Book of Revelations during his exile on the Island of Patmos, Pagan Rome was the enemy of God's people. Many Christians were martyred there and so the centre of the Catholic Church also moved there after Jerusalem was destroyed. Jerusalem was the Whore of Babylon as she conspired with Rome to destroy Christ and then persecute the Christians. And that section also sets up a timeline, but the Church was already calling itself Catholic before the Book of Revelations was written.

I'm pretty sure there are several cities with seven hills but none are as famous as Rome's If John was talking about Jerusalem don't you think he would have said Jerusalem instead? The Women that sits there is the mother of all prostitutes which is a reference to Ezekiel where he is speaking of Israel being a prostitute. Israel is the one that is leaving God and instead laying in bed with the rulers of the world.

The Holy Spirit is not limited in any way. However, humans are. I believe He spoke to John in ways that he could understand. Nashville would have meant nothing to John.
---NVBarbara on 6/1/06

NVBarbara, do you really think that the Holy Spirit was limited by John's knowledge of first century geography?

There are 4 cities that I know of that have 7 hills:
1/ Rome, pretty obvious
2/ Mosgow
3/ Berlin, they toook all the rubble from the fighting and bombing and made it into 7 hills.
4 Torquay, Devon, UK. Maybe the anti-christ will rise from here, you never know.
