Rev.Herb: I give thanks for your work: you are blessed with a mission.Poor is a word that hurts the image of a tiny child who needs help and love.It stops the inspiration of a mother to try to give hope to a child and faith to a husband.God can and does help through service like yours ,so ..God Bless your ministry.lulac3895

Most rich people think they don't need God because they think money can buy everything, including their way into heaven. No one can bribe God, and no one can buy God, he is not for sale. Some of the middle class and the poor class need God and depend upon him for everything. If it hadn't been for the Lord, I wouldn't have the things that I need and some of my wants.

Poor. the poor know that they can't receive everything they want and need without help. this is the situation that Jesus talks about in the Beattitudes. It doesn't have anything to do with how much money is in your pocket but a mental understanding that you can't do it all yourself, that you need more than you have. That need spiritually is Jesus. True that poor (financially) are more apt to relate because they already need help.

To ---robyn; I found your statement about seldom being around rich people very interesting. Two of the man I work with when witnessing on the streets are themselves millionaires or close to it. You would Never suspect that from the way they dress on their ability had to identify with the down and out.

Those who are poor in spirit are more open to the Gospel. Those who are religious and self-righteous do not see that they have a need to be saved. The people who are really down and out are willing to accept Jesus. Some people have to really reach the end of their rope before turning to the Lord.

Poor peolpe will listen to the gospel as do the rich. I witness to the poor when I can. I never really thought about this. I am almost never around rich people but I am sure there are some who want to hear the Gospel and to be saved. One thing I do know. Poor people sometimes are very greedy and arrogant. They have bad habits and are ignorant to a lot of things. They have accepted their plight and it takes a lot to change their way of thinking.

I preach at two mission churchs we started. I give out food to the hurgry. You should see some of the houses some of the people live in. Your dog has a better home than some of these. One family didn't have heat this winter. Another lady with sugar ran out of medication and almost died. We are trying to get more food for our food pantry. We are trying to do a VBS this summer. We are trying to find a van because a lot of these people have no transportation. What do you call poor?

Some poor people are more willing to listen, and tag along for a season, but not to commit.

If the rich person loves his money, his money could be more important to him than God. Matthew 19:21-26 Mark 10:21-27 Luke 12:21

Some may be willing to listen if you show them you care by helping them, like Rev.Herb does. James 1:27

I believe that anyone who is poor, in the sense of having a need of any kind spiritually, will be open to the gospel. Those who think they have everything and think they have no need do not want to listen. The same self-righteousness that existed in Jesus' day still exsists today -- I find religious people the hardest to witness to.

The poor are more willing to listen about God because they aren't blinding by money. and the materials of this world. I talk to whomever is lost and in need of Jesus.
