What Is Your Gift To The Body

Ro 12:4-8 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: There are gifts given to the Body that differ according to various offices. They are the gift prophecying, ministering, teaching, exhortation, giving, ruling, and mercy. Which do you have?

Teaching, exhortation, giving

Mercy, helps and teaching and exhortation. I guess that is why I decided to study social work after teaching public school for twenty years. While I naturally lean toward shooting from the hip, I can hug a person who is hurting. My depth of empathy is deep. My desire is to minister to the mentally ill and addicts.

Linda, I wasn't offended. Infact I thought it was kind of funny. At least one person knew I was on line, even if it was as a thorn in the flesh. Ha! God Bless.

Oh, Debbie, no....I wasn't calling you a thorn in anyone's side. I was referring to that "no grey area" blunt personality that teachers seem to have. I deal with that too so I know exactly where you are coming from, and that is why I made the comment about the "thorn in the side". Bluntness and mercy seem to be opposing things but there must be a balance in Christ somewhere. This blog is a pretty good example of how something put on the internet can be very misunderstood.

If I am anyone's thorn in the side, I guess that is O.K.,because God said to Bro. Paul, "My grace is sufficient for you." For you information, I am not easily offended, I have a good sense of humor. At least, if you are calling me a thorn in your side, you are not calling me a pain in the rear. God Bless you all, I enjoy all of your comments.

I did a spiritual gifts analysis on the internet some time ago and it told me that my gift was mercy and as a secondary gift ministering. I had not previously thought of putting a name to gifts, I just got on with life doing what I felt led to do.

Okebaram, If you have all those spiritual gifts, you probably have gotten a interpretation because it comes to you in a very similar manner. The gifts you mentioned are spiritual gifts, the ones mentioned in I Cor. 12, the ones I am referring to are the gifts connected with the calling or office God has called you to.

I have operated in prophecy, in word of knowledge, word of wisdom, speaking in tongues, etc at one time or another. In fact the only gift of the Spirit I've never operated in, or even been chanced to ponder if I had it, is interpretation of tongues.

"My main gift is teaching accompanied with prophecy and exhortation. Because of that combination I see things either black or white. Forgive me if I come across to strong, I don't intend to offend, it is just hard for me to see grey areas. I have been praying for God to bring mercy into the mix."

Yes, Debbie...the thorn in our sides :)

Recently someone said this to me. You are an most penetrating talker. I think he was describing my gift. My gift is; if a person will give me about 4 minutes the Holy Spirit will use my tongue to tell that person how they can they saved. Invite them to be saved. And if they agree lead them in a prayer to Jesus for their salvation. Well I'm off to witness this afternoon. Then on to prison ministry tonight.
