The Cheese Sandwich Of Mary

Is the cheese sandwich that was sold on ebay for $28,000 that has the face of Mary in it really her? If it is really from Mary, should we pray through the sandwich to feel closer to her?

Is this question for real? Part of me wants to laugh and the other part feels bad for the questioner.
---Kella3336 on 5/27/08

Cease already from these superstitions and idolatries. You need to get closer to Christ. period. And please forget about dead Mary and dead sandwiches, because there is salvation in neither.

You wouldn't believe all the questions and comments we have to look at. Some of them make this question look very tame :)
---Moderator on 5/26/08

Yes, it was her. I know because I visited the Deli she worked in.
Whenever she would make a cheese sandwich she would mash her face in it as a symbol of her work.
When the manager saw her do it He said, "You're fired, virgin or not."
That Deli job is still open today. You should apply there because you have bologna to spare. Of course I think you might be a couple of slices short of a full loaf if you believe all that trash.......

ChristiaNet Staff,
Please tell me... Are you folks required to wear seat belts on your office chair to keep from falling out when reading questions like this??
---Elder on 5/26/08

Even the Vatican is asking the faithful to discarded any of these nonsense. There are over 1,000 different claims of seeing the Virgin Mary every year. 10,000's in the last century. But only FOUR IN OUR 2000 YEARS HISTORY is recognized by the RCC. So please do not blame the cheese sandwich on the Church.

Ignore or Ignorance: Let's see? Which word should apply here?
---Elisabeth on 5/26/08

Yes, Sally, it was really her.... I also have a bridge in Brooklyn that I will sell to the highest bidder.
---NurseRobert on 5/26/08

Ever look at the clouds? If you use your imagination you can see all sorts of things in them. The same is true for potatoes shaped like Jay Leno, or water drip marks that look like Mary, or burnt toast that looks like Jesus, but none of it actually means anything. I do believe in miracles but I do not look for them in my food.
---lorra8574 on 5/28/07

I heard in rural east Texas a lady had some mold shaped like Elvis on an egg, millions came and claimed to be healedby looking at the sacred egg, then after a while the mold changed shape and looked more like Mr. Ed, and then the lady said, "never mind."

Thats no yoke.

I thought today was the 24th May not 1st of April !! (Do you have April Fools' Day in U.S?) This question cannot be for real.

I 'dis' both liberal and right wing views, and both 'new-age' on one side an fundamentalist posturings on the other. I don't attack anyone personally, but sometimes I read things that bring a chuckle. 'dinosaurs never existed, people floating across ceilings in church, evil teletubbies, demons coming out of caves,-and the Mary cheese sandwich' some high profile religious leaders, they all have worth as humer. I suppose something I say may engender a chuckle or two.
---MikeM on 6/1/06

Because it was a cheesy trick Helen?

It seems we're all after the same thing, being right with God and living our lives for Him. We all just go about it a different way, why argue about it? I don't know you Mike, but I will respect your view as long as they don't disrespect my God. I do know some of the battles that Madison has had and I respect her as a person for leaning on God, and I love her as a sister in Christ. Lets not 'dis' each other because some of our views are different.
---NVBarbara on 5/29/06

Protestants, fundamentalist have 'prayer rags' they send to people to place on a aliment that afflicts them, they are supposed to help heal, for a price. That is very comparable to the Catholics and cheese sandwitch's. (I live in So.Cal., one hispanic lady had people leaving flowers outside her home, they said they saw the Virgen reflecting from her bathroom window.)

Darlen ... My fiend was in New Orleans for a week, and saw the free government provided trailers in the higher parts while the rich repaired their homes. No help for the poor in the lower parts, they just lived on the streets. Facts about this confirmed by a local white man of good standing.

I thought all conservative protestants had to be far right wing, it was a requirement, as Pat Robertson said years ago that the Republican Party was Gods party. If thats true, democrats are with the other fellow. As a Libertarian, what entity runs my party?
---MikeM on 5/27/06

Alan: I appreciate your support. I am always amazed that there are people who want to put Christians in a box and define us by one set of ideas. I appreciate so much 1 Corinthians, because in it Paul discusses our freedoms in Christ, and how we all do not fit into a box and all have different ways of expressing our Christianity and freedom.
---Madison1101 on 5/26/06

Alan the mobile homes are in Mississippi and possibly Alabama. I saw them on the news and new ones but far from fancy. If you know what the old silver Air Stream travel trailers were like that is the shape of the ones I saw,but larger. Since it wasn't storm winds that destroyed New Orleans, levee failed,I haven't heard of many people trying to rebuild in those flooded areas. In other two States it was the storm winds which destroyed homes and people are building back. Homes insured for winds, not flooding.

Madison ... although I am in the UK, and things are different here, I am with you. BUT ... here we have a "socialist" government which should be the one who will improve things for the unfortunate. They have been in power now 9 years and under them nearly all areas of life has got worse, except for the rich and the politicians and their trade union cronies.
Our Conservative party with compassion manages things better (IMHO)

Wonder why it was a cheese sandwich.
---Helen_5378 on 5/26/06

T.S. Who are you to tell me I am not an evangelical Christian?
---Madison1101 on 5/26/06

Who in New Orleans is being provided with state-funded luxury trailers whilst their homes are being rebuilt?
My friend has recently visited, and it is clear that help goes to the wealthy only.
Which is the greates sin, momosexuality or leaving the starving to starve, and the homeless to remain so?
---alan8869_of_UK on 5/26/06

Good for you, Madison!

It's a shame that people confuse the Gospel of our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ with cultural conservatism.

The very nature of Christianity is counter-cultural, challenging the status quo.

Send a Free St Patrick's Day Ecard

This is the best example I could get regarding business that plays on the faith of the followers. This is also the best example I could get regarding Christians who follows blindly what is taught in their churches!
---Raine on 5/26/06

No, because where I go to church, taking a stand for righteousness means something, as well as speaking out against ungodly morals, especially by NOT voting for those who reak of them....

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" Isaiah 5:20
---T.S. on 5/25/06

T.S. Yes, there is such a thing as a liberal Democrat who is an evangelical Christian. I work with some and I went to grad school with many. We just don't go to your church.
---Madison1101 on 5/25/06

Sally, are you for real? The whole idea smacks of idolatry of the worst kind.

"Evangelical Christian" "LIBERAL Democrat"??? .........

Day & night, oil & water.....
---T.S. on 5/25/06

The pan's on E-bay which makes likeness of Christ on a sandwich, but nothing mystical or spiritual about it. It has an area looks made to produce that image, has a raised area where image is,or something done to it. The pan wasn't for sell just sandwichs for $50.00 each. What a racket, sometimes people will pay good money for the worst trash. I think the best thing to do is not get taken by buying anything so absurd to begin with. God's people don't need a gimmick,we have Jesus as intercessor.

Moderator - I know down here in Texas there was a fungus growing on a bridge that looked like Mary's face so they say and people were trying to turn the bridge into a shrine and where lighting candles and praying.
---Darlene_1 on 5/24/06

MikeM: I don't appreciate your humor, if you are joking. I have been an evangelical Christian for over 30 years, and a liberal Democrat for that same amount of time. The two are not mutually exclusive. Please refrain from insulting me.
---Madison1101 on 5/24/06

Well I do not know if it were simular to the mother Mary, but I do know this, I wouldn't waste money on a sandwhich, unless was going to eat it! Also God told us not to have any images of the heavens or Earth, not to worship them , make idols, etc. so they can keep that Mary sandwhich I would rather worship God for free.

Bologna, Tommy Rot, Hogwash? It all adds up to the same thing. A bunch of nonsense! Mary was blessed among women, but she was a woman none-the-less. The mother of our Lord? Without a doubt! Someone to be prayed to in the form of a chesse sandwich or on a tree or under a bridge? What pure, unadulterated foolishness. Read the Bible because it makes the error of this pagan practice very clear. Unless, of course, you just don't want to see...
---Criss on 5/24/06

I thought being far right-wing was a requirement for being a evangical? My goodness.
---MikeM on 5/24/06

MikeM: Love your insult. Way to build up the body of Christ. Being a liberal doesn't mean I am stupid too. Keep your grinder. You may need it someday.
---Madison1101 on 5/24/06

Actually the cheeses sandwich "image" is a genuine thing. We had a newspaper article recently with photos of all sort of so-called images of Jesus face, Jesus on the cross, Mary, Mary with babe etc etc. Absolute Tommy rot of course, but sometimes people see what they want to see.
I wonder about Sally ... she seems to ask this question so that she can ridicule RC Christians

I have a grinder, with lots of balony. It looks like all the democrats in the senate, it really does, all of them are pictured on the grinder! How much can I get for it? I am sure liberals would love praying to it. It has lots of meat in it, lots of balony.
---MikeM on 5/24/06

People generally see what they look for and hear what they listen for.

All things considered, it's probably more spiritually healthy to see the image of the Virgin Mary on a cheese sandwich than to hunt for Antichrist (or a demon) behind every coffee pot.

Someone else saw Pope Benedict XIV's face on a pancake on the day of his election, too.

Too bad this person couldn't have settled the election of 2000 is such a direct manner.

Or Sally you may be interested in some beachfront property I have for sale here in Nevada! I made a grilled cheese sandwich a couple of days ago, I think I ate Elvis's head!
(I think there was a bite taken out the Mary sandwich)
