What Can The Bible Do For Us

Can we please try and list all of the things the WORD of God can do for us? For example: He sent forth his word and healed us. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (it guides us). Acts says the word drew people near. There are many, can we try to list them all?

Is that all you think Christianity/God is? If all you're looking for is to have things done for you or a way to exploit other people, God has nothing to offer you.

But if you LOVE the creator, the bible can offer you insight in how to do that.

Don't LOVE the bible, LOVE THE CREATOR.

Donna, there is no way of listing them all, because the Bible does different things for different people. The Bible is a living thing and every time you go back for comfort you see something different then before. As they say the Bible stands for Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, and is forever changing to give us comfort. Don't break it apart, just Cherish the word.

The Bible, God's Word, gave us laws to live by. What shape would the world be in if there were no laws given by God? Since by nature we are born rebelious, the world wouldn't be fit to live in. The world would be run by dictators trying to outdo one another. Without God, could man really make up laws similar to the ten commandments? No they couldn't. The only laws man would create is to fit their own agenda. God has a different unselfish agenda - to get us back to the Garden of Eden.

The Bible introduces us to Jesus Christ, our only hope. The Word of God tells us how to have salvation. It gives us a reason and purpose for this life. It gives us instructions for living this life. It tells of our Christian heritage. The Bible is a divine revelation from God; it is completely trustworthy and true. As Christians, it should govern every area of our lives.

the word of God is food for the spirit. you feed your mortal body, right?as the body needs food to sustain life so does your spirit need the word. thats what the bible does for you.

Donna, references to "the word" in the NT (except John 1) could not have meant the Bible, because the NT hadnt' been written yet.

"The word" was a LIVING word, not written one.

The Fathers word in the life of a believer is alive, active, effectually fixed, and operable. The word cuts comprehensively and decisively between deceptive intelligence and true intelligence. The word as if by a single stroke separates that which is sensually based from that which is inspired of the Father. The word is the discerner of thoughts and intents and identifies to the believer where his focus truly resides.

Ps 119:45 And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts. 59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. 98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. 104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. 165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Dottie, I think you missed the point here. Ricky and Christina got the concept. Some folks don't LIVE by the WORD, mostly because they don't see it come to pass in their life. There are scriptures that tell us what the WORD can do for us. I'm not talking about bible concepts. I know Moderator titled the blog "Bible" but I meant the WORD, in other words: Thy WORD have I hidden in my heart that I may not sin against thee, so the word keeps us from sinning. Can you see the concept now?

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.(Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4; Luke 4:4)
