From my studies in the Dake Bible:
1 Corinthians 12:8 Gifts of Revelation: 1)Word of Wisdom- Supernatural insight into the divin will and purpose showing how to salve any problem that may arise 2) Word of Knowledge- Supernatural inf others sight in the divine mind, will, or plan, also the plans of ithers that man could not know of himself 3) Discerning of spirits- supernatural insight into the realm of spirits to detect them & their plans & to read the minds of men.

Madison, help , looking up the gifts of the Spirit I couldn't find those you listed mentioned as Spiritual Gifts. I found in 1Corinthians 12,healing,miracles,word of wisdom, word of knowledge, tongues, interpretation of tongues, discerning of spirits, faith, prophecy. I'm wanting to understand the difference in true Spiritual gifts and differences of ministry,or diversities of activities mentioned there. Would helps, mercy, teaching, exhortation come under offices instead of gifts? What would my singing be?

Do a google search on Understanding the Gifts in the Church - Prophets are born not made, they usually have a lifetime of ups and downs, wilderness experiences, are not popular as they bring truth (mature ones speak it in love and DO NOT boast of themselves..point people to Christ not them) they are mercy motivated and blunt, necesary balance, usually very generous, compassionate, understand the reality of eternity in Hell or heaven, like to be alone with God, are misunderstood etc.

My gifts are mercy, helps, teaching and exhortation. Makes sense I would change careers from teaching to social work.

Alan 8869,unless it's the Gift of faith,no,hope comes through experience, so I don't think so,love is commanded and necessary to a Christian walk, but not sure it is Gift, or heartdetermined. I know one Gift you have and that is the Gift of Giving. I don't know of anyone with more compassion than you. I also would guess you have Helps as a Gift. Both of those are rare in Christians. You can rejoice how God uses you to minister in such a rare and special way.

A knowledge and understanding of just what salvation means. And the wisdom to know there was nothing I could have done to earn the gift.

How do Faith, Hope and Love (which Paul says is the greatest of these three) fit into this question? Do they count as spiritual gifts?

The gift of discernment, giving, singing, (I am called to sing), I am seeking after the gift of healing by laying on hands, and the gift of prophecy.
