God gave the angels that fell free will, just as He gave us. A better question: why did Lucifer rebel and take 1/3 of the angels with him?

Angels, in their intellect that is greater than ours, could forsee the eternal consequences of their rebellion--and nevertheless rebelled.

We cannot see the eternal consequences of all our actions. But we can choose to cling to God to the best of our ability and trust in His mercy for the rest.

The fact that the Bible reveals that God created Lucifer perfect and yet allowed him to rebel speaks volumes about God's love. In the freedom granted to His creatures, He reveals that LOVE will do anything to make and keep one happy, even letting them choose rejection of HIM if that is what they want.

Through study of the scriptures, you see not only Satan, but a third of the angels followed Satan. Now they could only do this because of free will that we also all have. Like Satan, man can be Prideful and Greedy.

Cont. Why? so that we will know "No weapon that is formed against us shall prosper (succeed); and every tongue that rises against us in judgement we shall condemn (prove to be in error). This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and our righteousness is of Him".

Isa. 54:16:17 "Behold. (2 Thes. 2:8 - Rev. 11:18 - Heb. 2:14 -1Jn 3:8) Cont.

He did not make Lucifer as he is now, just as he did not make man to disobey Him and therefore bring the curse of sin and death upon themselves. However, I have always been a bit confused as to how Lucifer CHOSE to rise up against God- I didn't think angels HAD free wills. Anybody care to comment?

I don't know why God made the devil -- I just wish He hadn't! :)

This is a good question. I often wonder why God has done this and why God has allowed evil in the world.

He was the Number one angel, he was created perfect but he got tired of serving God and wanted to be God. I God hadn't created him, some other angel would have been in that position and did the same thing. Angels had a free will.

Isaiah 14 and Ezekial 28 show what he had & what caused him to fall.
