Well if it is wrong then God himself will show me. Because I have ask God many times to search my heart to see if there be anything hidden. And he yet to show me that it is wrong.

I love Lucy, Sanford and son, The Cosby show, and Leave it to Beaver.
---catherine on 6/25/07

So you think that the Lord approves of Charmed and Harry Potter? "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil." 1 Thess. 5:21,22

Sorry, but I think someone that really has that gift would be able to see the dangers of these shows. It proves that the gifts have ceased.

Not from Michigan, but Calif. and we watched Soupy Sales, Sky King, Roy Rogers. How about Romper Room?
---ljt on 1/15/07

Yes, I am (young) enough to remember those, also (if you are from around the Michigan area) Soupy Sales, Sky King, the Original Superman, etc. Ah, memory lane...
---gaye on 1/15/07

I remember watching reruns in the afternoons of shows called December Bride, Pete and Gladys, Love That Bob (these were from the 50's and this must have been the 60's)
---ljt on 1/14/07

Pat,
I have to confess, I remember all of those shows. They were the ones I grew up with.
Also Rita Bell, Captain Jolly, Johnny Curtain Time, Bill Kennedy, Flipper, Mr. Ed, Milky's Party Time, The Flying Nun, Romper Room ...
---lynet on 1/14/07

Okay, this is dating me, but is anyone on here old enough to remember: Howdy Doody, Captain Kangaroo, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Lassie, I Love Lucy, Zoro, The Life of Riley, Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best????
---Pat on 1/14/07

Oh yes, I forgot to mention: Little Rascals, The Three Stooges, Shirley Temple movies, The Mickey Mouse Club, American Bandstand....
---Pat on 1/14/07

The new game shows. 1 vs 100, deal or no deal and identity was fun to watch. They are so interesting because the amount you can win is unprecendeted.

I saw Slappy on that UFO blog. He calls himself Commander Slappy on that, but I know it's him. "Mars Attacks". That was so stupid that it really was funny! I think I heard that Slappy was in that movie. Remember on Seinfeld when they mentioned Slappy White. Who is he?
---Tanya on 1/14/07

"Nellah, I like jeopardy too, but that "funny tune" that they use while the constants are trying to figure out the final answer must feel like "torture" to those contestants struggling with the answer(lol), it's almost like the tune is mocking them. God Bless!"

Mrs._Morgan, oh thats funny! I would definitely have to put my fingers in my ears! :D

I'm also a big fan of Antique Roadshow. People wonder why I attend so many garage sales. hahaha. NCIS is a favorite, Jeopardy too.

Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation movie. The squirrel hanging on Clark's back, running up and down the stairs, the exploding dried up turkey, cat on the tree lights... and cousin Eddy lighting a cigar while he drains his motorhome. Cousin Eddy, "I don't have a job yet. I'm holding out for a management position." "We can only stay a couple of months, Clark".

A 'classic' Slappy, so stupid it was funny!
Filmed right outside Las Vegas in Parhump.
I didn't know who Slim Whitman was 'til I saw that movie, the only 'noise' that would make the alien's heads explode! His voice for very long would make my head explode!

Slappy, Your name makes me laugh, my brother Bob(who is hilarious BTW) has used that term often "slappy" among the other funny terms that he uses. All of my brother are "comedians" really. What do you think of Plan 9 from outer space? Probally the worse movie ever made known to man,and is one of my brothers favorite movies to make fun of. God Bless!

Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond tickle me, and I still enjoy them; Harris & Roberts were hoots,as their "Mother" characters.

I still get a "kick" out of Stiller & Boyle playing "Father" roles. Bravo and BRAVO!

I loved stuart Smiley, My former relitives were big into 12 Step, walked out of the room when I put in that film, "Stuart saves his family." they were the "I hurtin' your hurtin' lets all be a hurtin' together." Emotional jellyfish, Richard Simmons meets TBN.

Reba is still cool, those people are airheads, like my Knoxville relitives.

Did anyone watch Gerald Ford's funeral?
Geo. Bush Sr. referred to Chevy Chase 'playing' Mr. Ford and always stumbling down. Then he said he wouldn't elaborate because as Dana Carvey would say "Not 'gonna do it,wouldn't be prudent." Carvey's favorite line when portraying Bush, it was funny.
I used to like "Deep Thoughts" on SNL. Boy that was a long time ago!

"What do you think about the late Phil Hartman's version of Clinton visiting the Fast Food Restaurants while jogging? Darrell Hammond, playing Al Gore and Jesse Jackson? I think Hammond could imitate any body! Hilarious! God Bless!"

Mrs._Morgan, all of those just about killed me! Dana Carvy was pretty funny playing George Bush and Ross Perot.
---Kay on 1/9/07

I'm bothered by the fact that I said that I question the Scott's Christianity (in my earlier reply to Sue). It's not my place to do so as that is solely between them and God. I hold fast to my warning to be very careful with them as I still have seen major red flags that haven't set well with me, but as for their faith and sincerity, that is up to God to determine.
---AlwaysOn on 1/9/07

NV Barbara, you like Mrs. Bucket, too. :-)
It's an old show, but Madison hit the nail on the head. I like the British, do you think it's in our DNA? Maybe.
---Raine on 1/9/07

NV_Barbara , I forgot about Monk, he is so funny! I have to admit, that I have used a tissue on the doorknob at public bathrooms some times(lol), some people will give you a "funny look" if you do that though. Have you seen that Movie called "What About Bob" with Bill Murry? God Bless!

I like some things on Discovery, the History channel and Nat. Geo. channel.
I also like "Monk" and "Psych" "House" and Law & Order CI". I like several of the old shows on BBC; "Keeping up Appearances," "Monty Python" and some others.
I like to watch the World News on BBC.
---NV_Barbara on 1/8/07

The BBC, "Keeping Up Appearances", Mrs. Bucket, "Lady of the house, speaking". I laugh when her relatives blow in, driving the old hoopty. They're always throwing a kink in her plans. Candlelight suppers and tea parties are always a mess. I laugh hard at the same old gags.

(I.)I love comedy, but it's hard to watch secular shows because many times they have to throw in " cussing" and sexual content. I use to tape Saturday Night Live in the 90's, I was careful about what I taped, that show has worsened in terms of morality over the years. My favorite regulars from the past are "Stuart Smiley" ,the self-help guy played by Al Franken...
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/8/07

(II.)..."The van down by the river, Guy"(sadly he passed away) , "The Whip Master" played by Bill Murry, "The Opera Guy", "Pat", and the "rude receptionist guy" played by David Spade. But any way, I enjoy good clean comedy, the "real" comedians don't have to rely on filth to be funny, like "Sinbad" for example. I also like the classic comedies like Laurel and Hardy, Jerry Lewis, Gomer Pyle, etc. God Bless!

Sue, I know you to be a very sincere Christian woman. Don't know how much you know about the Scott's, but please be very careful when listening to their ministry and be doubly careful if you decide to contribute time or money. I saw Melissa's late husband, Dr. Gene Scott, do some VERY outrageous things on air when he was alive. I've also read things about both of them which leads me to strongly question their Christianity. This isn't an attack on your choice, but just a warning in case you're not aware.

my wife loves Reba, I cant stand it, that airhead son-in-law. As for me, I have little time for TV when I do watch its the history channel.
---MikeM on 1/7/07

I'm with you Rebecca_D. I don't believe that watching those particular TV shows will harm a spiritually mature person. Anyone who lets a TV show control their life should get professional help or not watch such shows until they have matured in their faith. I enjoy watching Bewitched even though I've been accused of practicing witchcraft for watching it. I guess those same people would say that its wrong for us to watch the Wizard of Oz since there are witches and a wizard in it.
---Kay on 1/7/07

Well if others can't see the God in me then they are not looking. Anything that is on t.v except the preaching shows doesn't glorify God, so therefore everyone that watches t.v is making the weaker to fall, and people to question the faith in all. At least I admit I watch charmed, I'm sure there are others here whom didn't put down what they truely watch, because they were afraid someone would judge them by what they watch. If I knew I was going to be judged by this I wouldn't have posted it.

Rebecca: If you read my previous posts, I did say that I watched it with clients at an agency where I work. I do know what they do on that show, and I believe it to be evil.

Your hostile defensiveness is totally off base. "Charmed" glorifies witchcraft plain and simple. It gives glory to the things not of the Holy Spirit. And you, claiming to be a believer, will lead weaker brethren to stumble, and nonbelievers to question your faith.
---Madison1101 on 7/9/06

Madsion have you ever seen this show before? If not then how can you judge something that you have never seen? I hate it that we can't come to an agreement, but I don't think it is wrong. Until God shows me different. It would be wrong if I were to practice this wicca, but I don't. It is just a t.v show like Law and order yes some of it may go on but it is just a show. Maybe your guys gift is to criticize others, because you sure are good at it.
---Rebecca_D on 7/7/06

"what people think it wrong, I may not and vice versa. That is how God made us to be different, and we will not see eye to eye on everything."

Sorry, but what any of us "thinks" is irrelevant. God's opinion is the only one that counts. I am afraid that making excuses to endulge in modern secular entertainment is not going to get his approval.

Rebecca D: Please read 1 Corinthians 15:24,25. Satan has not yet been put under Jesus' feet - that will come at the end. Satan is still roaming about like a roaring lion, and he deceives as many as he can just because he is full of hate. Deception is not easily discerned.

Rebecca: I am reading from the Bible, 1 Corinthians 8:9-13, Romans 12:9, and 1 Thessalonians 5:22.

You are sinning against a weaker brother by your lifestyle of viewing an evil television program and acting as if there is nothing wrong with it.
---Madison1101 on 7/6/06

Helen: 1 Cor 15:27-28. Madsion where are you reading from? I am sinning against my brother, how? by watching a t.v. show? how is Charmed an evil t.v. show? I would rather someone watch that as I would nip/tuck, there my dear you see it all the nudity. Again, what people think it wrong, I may not and vice versa. That is how God made us to be different, and we will not see eye to eye on everything. You do your part in your life with Christ, and I do mine.
---Rebecca_D on 7/6/06

I think what I wrote earlier bears repeating!
ANYTHING we take in through our eyes or ears becomes a part of us. Whether we realize it or not, its 'rattling around in our brains' and could cause us to make poor judgements. Confusion is not of God.
---NV_Barbara on 7/6/06

2) Just like the religious movement that is sweeping the world right now, about doing good for the sake of the betterment of humanity. Held up by many churches as the way to enlightenment and closeness with God, Charmed is a reflection of this exact doctrine, but with a Satanic spin. Before I was saved, I thought Charmed was very harmless to watch, now as a believer, I have a very hard time watching any TV because of the filth, sex and promotion of evil themes in most shows.

1) Rebecca, I know that you mentioned that the show Charmed is a show between good and evil, but in 2 Corinthians 11 vs 14, it says, And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. We are to be careful of Satans deceiving ways.
---harm7866 on 7/6/06

Rebecca, You and God know where your heart is. I dont think we mean to be attacking you about it. We all have things in our lives that God would not approve of. I am a smoker and I know God wouldnt like that. I am honest about it though. That is what is missing, we need to recognize the evil carnal things that we partake of and should try to rid them from our lives. But recognizing what is wrong is the first step. Again, I dont mean to attack, it is all meant to help and protect a sister in Christ.
---tofurabby on 7/6/06

Rebecca, Your very defensiveness over the issue leads me to believe that this is an area where you really aren't strong, nor have Satan "under your feet". If he were really under your feet, you would have nothing to do with his work... even if just for entertainment. To think you can partake of evil and not be affected shows just how deceived you really are. Madison has given you God's opinion on the matter from scripture - so, your argument is not with us, it is with God Himself.
---daphn8897 on 7/6/06

Rebecca D - You say that satan is under your feet -- Can you supply Scripture for that? Thanks. Also, if satan is under your feet, then how do you explain 1 Peter 5:8 that says "your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion ..." ? 9Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10For if anyone with a weak conscience sees you who have this knowledge eating in an idol's temple, won't he be emboldened to eat what has been sacrificed to idols? 11So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

Rebecca: First of all, back up. I never said anything about your supposed gifts. That is not the issue here. Where you think you have Satan is an issue. How you view evil is also an issue. Your testimony to unbelievers and the weaker Christians is an issue.
---Madison1101 on 7/5/06

Satan may not be under your feet, but he is under mine, the only way for him to get any power over me is what I give him, and I refuse to give him an inch of power. Why do I need to pray for something, you think is wrong and I know that it is not? Believe me I face satan everyday. I am not untouchable from Satan, but I will not let him nor you guys confuse me on what I feel isn't wrong. And yes you are judging me about the type of gift I have, if you don't understand it, you pray about it.
---Rebecca_D on 7/5/06

Rebecca: I was not judging you. I have found that the Lord does speak to me through other believers. I have a trusted Christian friend with whom I am accountable, and she often exhorts me, and chastises me, in love. You cannot see my face, or hear my voice. I am concerned for you, not judging you. I pray you will THINK about all that has been shared here, and pour yourself into the Word for guidance on this matter.
---Madison1101 on 7/3/06

Rebecca, We aren't "judging" you. We are discerning the body, and perceive a wonderful sister in Christ who is deceived. We need one another to point out blind spots, and what we are saying here is that you apparently have one. So rather than becoming defensive and then unteachable, relax... examine the information in light of scripture, and pray. If it is just a matter of preference, I wouldn't say anything... but it is a matter of His word and helping to guard your heart.
---daphn8897 on 7/3/06

I am not saying that Rebecca is wrong to expect the answer loud and clear, perhaps with a sudden sensation that "This is God talking".
However, I have found in my experience, God has used other Christians to talk to me, and perhaps He has used me to pass on a message to others.
After all, if the lonely need a visit from God, it is we who walk to that person's home, and talk to them. And if somoene is starving, God does not throw a packet meal at their feet, He asks us to feed them.
---alan8869_of_UK on 7/3/06

Rebecca D - You said in an earlier post here that "satan is under my feet". No he is not under your feet or anybody else's feet. 1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." I have heard those Word of Faith people teaching this and it is a false teaching.

Because I have asked for my eyes to be opened. Because if their is something that I am doing wrong and I am blinded I need God to help me see what needs to be seen. How are you people helping me when all your doing is kicking me down? Judging me for what I watch, do? If there is an answer that God wants me to hear, believe me I will hear it loud and clear.
---Rebecca_D on 7/3/06

Rebecca, You have asked God... could He not be talking to you through the folks on this site? Scripture is clear that we are to have no part in witchcraft. How is it that you think you are the one exception? I perceive your discernment has been hotwired by another and your conscience seared. Have you become complacent in guarding your heart against the things of this world an Satan? Open your eyes dear sister.
---daphn8897 on 7/3/06

Is it possible that god allows our common sense or instinct to guide us when it works toward his glory? Eg. I know I should not smoke... God is not going to answer me if I ask him if it is wrong... why? I already know. Asking if it is wrong is the same as looking for an excuse to continue because I know he is not going to bother answering... because I already know his answer.
