Be obedient and stay in Gods will. Believe in Jesus name .Jesus is the son of God. He is not God as majority of Gods people falsely taught .Mary gave birth to baby Jesus, not God. Jesus died on the cross, not God. WHO ARE YOU FOLLOWING? jesus came out from God,jesus was made in image of God .I and the Father are one,yes in spiritual realm, but separate beings. Repent ,believeth in me and thou shall be saved..........GOD can not save you,he can not be around sin, that is why he sent Jesus to get us all back to the father,GOD. Jesus never married, had no children. How could he be a Father without a son? IMPOSSIBLE.

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,..."

You are overstepping the boundaries of common decency with such unfounded accusation.

Samuel //Holiness comes from GOD. But we are not to sit on our hands and do nothing. Cleansing is done by looking to JESUS and avoiding evil.

Very true but Scripture says we are to abide in Christ as apart from Him, we can not be fruitful. John 15.

As the Holy Spirit is the Sanctifier, is it not true our main response should be to cooperate with that indwelling Holy Spirit as it is He who will convict of sin (John 16:8) - even our sins of omission?

If we rely on our understanding in observing laws, we will find ourself much in line with what Pharisees believed and they in their understanding believed Jesus was possessed with a demon and primarily because He did not observe the Jewish Sabbath. John 7, 8.
---Lee1538 on 2/19/10

"Thank you for being so righteous", is what God said to me the other night. Same God when He was walking here in the flesh. God shall keep you holy. He does not appreciate self-righteousness. He also, had some fun with me and my ethics, when He said, "you and your ethics"!

"Holiness comes from GOD. But we are not to sit on our hands and do nothing. Cleansing is done by looking to JESUS and avoiding evil.
---Samuel on 2/19/10"

I completely agree with this statement however those who sit on their hands and do nothing will not lose their salvation but rather will be saved by the skin of their teeth.
---mima on 2/19/10

2Cr 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
1Th 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Holiness comes from GOD. But we are not to sit on our hands and do nothing. Cleansing is done by looking to JESUS and avoiding evil.
---Samuel on 2/19/10

To--Nana, I understand from your past post that you believe your Holiness is the result of your effort and behavior. While I on the other hand belief my Holiness does not depend upon my behavior but on the Lord Jesus Christ's behavior which was imputed to me upon my receiving him as my savior.
---mima on 2/19/10

While there are those who in the flesh believe they can make themselves holy by what they conceive of as good works, Eph. 2:10 simply states that 'we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works'.

The doctrine of sanctification essentially says that of us.

Unfortunately, there are those who of the flesh believe that we can be made holy bye what we should not eat or the observance of some day of the week (the Jewish Sabbath), much liken to the Pharisees that put Jesus on the Cross.

Like what Paul9594 states, they will hear Mt. 7:23 for they never knew the Lord but depended upon works of the flesh for their justification and salvation.

Ken //How do you stay holy? By avoiding the profane! What is profane? Anything that stands in contrast to the will of God.

In other words if we practice a good ethical system we can make ourselves holy?

Or do we become holy by living in the power of His Holy Spirit and being obedience to all that He commands of us? Seems to me that you can be a very good Pharisee and follow all the laws but fail miserably in not doing what you should be doing - sins of omission.
---Lee1538 on 2/18/10

---Samuel on 2/17/10 makes a good statement in answering this question. He said,"Holiness is achieved by the indwelling of the HOLY SPIRIT. Not by our trying to be holy." He has put his finger on the problem, the problem is people declare they are holy because of their effort to be holy.

Steveng ...
There is no instruction in the Bible, even using an "online KJV search" that I should ignore those in Darfur, Haiti and elsewhere.

Maybe you find that ignoring the suffering of others improves your 24/7 Christian life. I don't.

As to recognising Jesus, are you so sure you would recognise him? ... Look up (online if you find it easier) Matthew 26.

That response tells me that you fall under the catagory of a conceited fool who despises wisdom and instruction. There are fifteen people who you would not know personally and not recognize face-to-face who you would say the same thing to - the twelve apostles, the two witnesses, and Jesus.

Holiness is achieved by the indwelling of the HOLY SPIRIT. Not by our trying to be holy. We are to keep our eyes on JESUS spend time with HIM in the Entire Bible.

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

1Cr 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring [it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Look to JESUS.

Jesus didn't divorce himself from the world,he was smack-dab in the middle of some of the evilest people alive in his time. Being in the world but not of the world is not a mental or physical act but an act of the Spirit. We don't light a candle and put it under a bushel,we are to shine in the darkness,a witness of the Lord God Almighty. The Old Line or Time Pentecostal churches taught a clothes line doctrine, don't,don't,don't do this and that and missing the point of their salvation,to win souls for the Kingdom of God. When we are told to come out of the World it means to stop fellowship with the sinful activities of the world. Knowing not to company with sinners who would lead us astray if we continued to partake of their passtimes.

alan8566_of_uk: "Steveng ... My neighbours are all over the world, and I for one will not pass by..."

Do an online KJV bible search for "one another," "each other," and "comfort" because living a christian life is a 24/7 lifestyle. Could you provide these to people halfway around the world? Is doing what you do make them really glorify God? Having a personal relationship has a stronger bond than just giving out money. This is the way God wants it. Christians today seem to be satisfied for their church to handle other people's problems. I'm not saying that's wrong in itself, but Christians have forgotten how to become a true good samaritan.

On the other hand, if you went there persoanlly...

All too often one would say he or she can stay holy by obedience to laws, however, Scripture tells us apart from abiding in Christ we really cannot be fruitful -

John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

If our focus is not on Christ but on ourselves, we cannot be holy.

I would suggest constant prayer & studying His word.

What would you do if there wasn't today's high technology to let you know of happenings in other parts of the world? How would the living work out their own problems if no one knew of their situation? How did man survive any catastrophe in the past before technology?

Besides, don't you have enough to do in your own community to help populate the Kingdom of God? The harvest is huge in England.

Hebrews 5:7_8: "Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared, Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered,"

That is my desire to associate myself with the statement.
---mima on 2/14/10

Rhonda, I completely agree with your points about holiness. We are commanded to be holy, because we cannot be commanded to be unholy. Does it mean we can accomplish holiness in life? No. Jesus could not tell us to be unholy. We are to continue following Christ example, and in the process we are been transformed into His likeness but never do we reach that stage of holiness in this life. Very good points Rhonda.

A person stays holy exactly the way they became holy that is by accepting, receiving, and trusting the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said, no man can take it out of my hand.

Pastor J and Steveng

I think you miss my point which referred largely to incoming and outgoing communication.

Had I no radio, TV or newspapers, I would not have heard of the tsunami, of Katrina, or Haiti, or Darfur, and so I would not have helped.

Was I wrong to do so? Or should I change so I don't hear about such things and so don't help.
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/12/10

Good point StevenG!

Alan we should all be changing and have our goals to being Holy for HE is Holy. There are people far ahead of me on their Journey and some who just started.

Change occurs by hearing the word and that comes many times through brothers/sisters of the faith.

As MarkV stated, many of the changes I made just came naturally as I grew ever closer to God.

I no longer LIKE TV. It stints in my opinion. Generally full of Hollywood trash, I want to live a more simple life and be closer to God. Thats me.

BTW.. I was one of the pioneers of both the Computer and Cellphones Industries. Apple, AOL, Nokia etc. Helped a kid by the name of Mike Dell start his company. All is in vain (Study Ecclesiastes).

---Steveng on 2/11/10

Jim ... You said "I do NOT have a TV, an Ipod, a radio(except in my car), cellphone, read newspapers"

I would not be able to do either my voluntary community or church work without those tools.

We need to avoid the influences of the world but still need information about it. Otherwise I'd never have heard of Haiti or 9/11

I have a TV ... and watch the news mainly, (I would HATE to watch American Bowl, or the ghastly UK equivalents) & a Radio, and I listen to music & news. I don't have an iPod. A cell phone keeps me in touch with my family and friends wherever I am, and I use the internet for the same purposes, and for my voluntary work.

Do you think I need to change?
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/11/10

Alan of UK, I believe Jesus said we are in the world but not of the world.

I believe there is a very fine line here between totally separating ourselves from the world, and our running with the world in worldly living. I can still be in this world and have relationships with unsaved people, but as Jesus prayed, being kept from the evil one. John 17.

Some, and I'm not referring to Jim at all, but perhaps the the Amish and such who have so separated themselves from everything and everyone. But I don't judge here. However I don't believe Jesus asked us to do that either.

We are called to be a light in darkness. So we have to go into dark places all the time for Jesus sake! He will keep us! He said He would!
---kathr4453 on 2/11/10

ALAN,

You need to listen to MarkV instead of constantly attempting contradict and be confrontational with ever post I make.

Again.... I said I use the internet for SPECIFIC information I need. I DO NOT SURF THE NET. I ALSO READ BOOKS. I ALSO TALK TO OTHER HUMAN BEINGS ON THIS PLANET.

But as MarkV said , I eliminated what I can and do NOT venture into worldly things.

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!!! I did NOT watch the Superbowl. American Idol etc, Because I NO longer belong to this world.

I have divorced the world and am NOW MARRIED to Christ. I am not a worldy citizen. I am just passing through.

YOU SHOULD BE DOING THE SAME THING IF YOU ARE SINCERE IN YOUR FAITH.

That is the point of MarkV posts.

MarkV ... I agree with your thoughts here, and also I beleive that we need to know what is going on in the world that we inhabit, so I watch the news, and read the papers

PastorJ claims not to do this.

Yet he has condemned Obama in great detail, and given highly detailed & critical facts about organ donation.

I was wondering how he found out about these things if he does not look at the media?
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/11/10

Alan #2: I said what I did not to oppose your view or anyone's just my view. If there was not a transformation going on then at rebirth we would be sinless. Everyone leaves old things behind, little by little. We learn more about God, whom we now love with all our hearts and less of what use we use to love so much in life. That to me is what transformation is. If the Spirit guides me to study more books on God, I learn less about the world. The more time we spend on godly things, the less we spend on things that will be burned later.
---MarkV. on 2/11/10

Alan, I believe that at the moment we are reborn, a transformation begins to take place in our lives. Where we thought some things were good, we begin to see them in a different perspective. But this transformation goes on all through our lives. No one is completely changed at the beginning. It is only the beginning. I believe that as you grow in the Lord, things that were important become less important. Things you would say, now you are more careful what you say. Your demeanor or disposition begans to change. If you smoked, you later give it up because convictions come to you, that other Christians are not smoking and it makes you feel guilty. If tv is disrupting your life, you get rid of it. But no body gives up everything all at once.
---MarkV. on 2/11/10

Pastor Jim.

If you don't read the papers, watch the TV, listen to the radio, not use the computer except for your own business, where do you pick up all the information to enable you to condemn Obama and organ donation?

A lot easier said than done, especially in today's secular world. One would need to be a hermit in the middle of a forest to accomplish what you claim the bible says. The average person receives tens of thousands of messages per day - most of them unwelcomed.

Many will tell you to "Walk in the Spirit" and you will not fullfill the lusts of the flesh, But how do you Walk in the Spirit?

2 Peter tells us specifically about seven qualities that if they are ours, ever increasing, and always in practice, we will NEVER stumble.

2 Pet 1:10 "Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you, for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble"

I lack the amount of words to show you the seven qualities but they are in 2 Pet 1:5-7. Needless to say, they encompass our deeds and intentions towards ourself and others.
