Do Popes Still Buy Their Postions

Do Popes still buy their positions with money like they did in the early years of the Catholic Church or do they play politics today?

whether one DONATES or GIVES money it is THE SAME THING
The Holy Spirit does not "elect" anyone..---Rhonda

Donates and gives is the same unless it is done by two different people.

If a Priest receives the DONATION from me to the RCC for his seminarians training, he status is different from me.

Priest is the receiver.
I am the donor.

You need to go to Acts and read how the 11 Apostles selectioned the next Apostle.
They prayed.

Maybe you are not use to the Holy Spirit assisting you?
The 3rd Person of the Trinity is willing to help all your needs.
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK HIM!
Go ahead and try.
Our God is a big God.
He loves you just as much as He loves me.

****
Rhonda, tell me which Priest do you know?
You just lied.
No money going to the RCC
****

Nicole sweety you are so delusional and removed from reality ...either you are so sick in your devotion for religious system you have submitted your mind and will to that you cannot see the double minded and consistent double talk you post, or you are disturbed

there are no LIES from me Nicole REREAD my post ...if you don't understand english then don't post I wrote lies

...whether one DONATES or GIVES money it is THE SAME THING

The Holy Spirit does not "elect" anyone there are NO scriptures to support rcc's pagan practice of ELECTING a pope
---Rhonda on 11/1/08

Rhonda, tell me which Priest do you know?
You just lied.
No money going to the RCC.
The RCC asked for donation to help take care of the men in seminarians.
Which takes 8 years.
They are poor.
So how are they going to give money that they don't have?

Political means campaigning which none is done when voting for the Pope.
You are getting us confused with you all the Protestants.
You can vote for your Preacher of your Church and the like.

In the RCC, the voting is done by prayers to the Holy Spirit.
So, the Cardinals vote according to the Holy Spirit guiding them, not by humans.

I know a priest and have known him all his life. He has good cars, good holidays, and never looks too thin. I don't begrudge him these, but it simply is not true that priests give all their money to the RCC---frances008 on 10/30/08

Priests take a vow of celibacy and obedience.
Not the vow of poverty.
They can have material things.

But, it doesn't look good to see Priests in expensive cars and clothing.
As it doesn't look good to see fat Priests and Nuns.

But, these things also apply to Preacher and Rabbi.
Anyone working for the Kingdom of God should watch how they live.

***
but it simply is not true that priests give all their money to the RCC,
****

it isn't true where in which part of the world?

here in US it is true a practice in New England and all over US ...several women I knew had sons enter the priesthood and they were required to give all of their money to rcc this was about 10 years ago ....so maybe since then rcc is now allowing priests to keep their money

either way their lifestyle is supported by rcc
---Rhonda on 10/30/08

I know a priest and have known him all his life. He has good cars, good holidays, and never looks too thin. I don't begrudge him these, but it simply is not true that priests give all their money to the RCC, or if they do, they certainly get looked after in exchange. Well looked after. Not all of them opt for this lifestyle I dare say, but it is available for those who are willing to accept the priesthood.
---frances008 on 10/30/08

once a priest becomes a member of rcc they MUST give ALL of their money to rcc ...which is why priests cannot marry because wealth of rcc would be divided to spouses and children

most priests live somewhat modest lives depending on size of church they manage ...larger membership usually more contributions and wealth resulting in better standards of living for priest - typical in Northeast
Cardinals live a life 90% of Americans will NEVER see with lavish living arrangements

I'm unsure how potential pope candidate would "buy" their position as their money was given to rcc when they joined

ALL VOTING is political and popes are voted into their office so it is a political event within their leadership

This question looks to me somethinglike that classic unfair one:

"Answer me YES or NO. Have you stopped beating yuor wife"
---alan_of_UK on 10/28/08

Mackey, I am confused, as a Catholic why would you ask this question on this site when it demonstrates it's anti-catholicism?

Have you talked to your Priest or Bishop about this? Have you discussed this with the heirarchy of the church?

I have no doubt that there are politics involved in the selection of the Pope, just as I believe that there are politics involved in the selection of the leadership of any large denomination.

How could I be Catholic bashing as I am a Catholic. As a Catholic, I want to know the truth, otherwise it makes me question the leadership in the Vatican. These are real questions I get asked as a Catholic and have no come back.
---Mackey on 11/17/07

Mackey let's say you get a satisfactory and reliable answer, what would be your action either way? Also, would it have any impact on your salvation? My suggestion is just that you pray for your leaders, that they may have the strength and wisdom to do God's work and give a good account of themselves.

"Moderator - Why don't you answer their questions?"

This question has already been answered by a number of other people on a number of other blogs recently. I find that people keep asking similar questions and posting them rather than reading what has already been written.

Moderator - Feel free then to point the person back to the other blogs including the ChristiaNet URL.

BTW, I predicted Rarzinger would become Pope, told enough people that they know it.

How did I know? An old Vatican technique is to get the front runner to reach the funeral sermon of the old Pope. This is to put him in front of the newcomers who might not know him.

"I was very persistent on getting answers to questions like "if the ten commandments say that we are to only pray to God, why do we pray to saints?" or "If the commandments say not to make any images of anything, why do we make images of saints" ~Steve

I'm sorry that people were unable to share their RC faith with you so that you could understand it. There are many good resources for finding answers to these questions today.

Hi Mackey. I would refer you to the EWTN or Catholic Answers website (among others) for a good answer to genuine questions about the Catholic faith. It's very hard to get correct answers about Catholicism here, and unfortunately there is much misunderstanding and half-truths shared.

Mackey ... from what you now say, it is clear that you know the answer to the question must be "We do not know"
Why did you ask the question in the first place?
---alan8869_of_UK on 6/28/06

Don't you know that what you see on TV and reality are two different things? How do we know what is really happening behind those closed doors? Politics? Prayer? Money?
---Mackey on 6/28/06

BTW, Mackey--

Do you actually think the people who post to these blogs have any more clue than you do how the papacy works?
---Jack on 6/28/06

Mackey, do you keep on making the same mistakes, or do you try to avoid them?

Are you willing to allow other people--even the pope--the same latitutde you're willing to allow yourself, yea even expect from others?

Mackey, you must REALLY be out of the loop of what goes on in the RC church if you claim to be RC and don't know the outlines of electing a pope.

Everything except the actual ballottings in the conclave were broadcast on several networks.

Did you know that?
---Jack on 6/28/06

I was once a Catholic, until I was kicked out of the Catholic Church and ultimately out of our Roman Catholic neighborhood - at the age of nine years. I was very persistent on getting answers to questions like "if the ten commandments say that we are to only pray to God, why do we pray to saints?" or "If the commandments say not to make any images of anything, why do we make images of saints?" etc. My mother was displeased for seven years.
---Steve on 6/27/06

I don't think the people on this site are anti-catholic as a whole. I have to take people at their word that they are telling the truth as they know it just like I do. My priest said do you make mistakes and I answered yes. Then he proceeded to tell me the men of cloth have made some mistakes in the past, but its different now. I don't buy it. If they make mistakes before, they could do it again.
