One of the great benefits of a being a Christian is to be at rest. To enjoy the peace that is beyond our understanding. I do not consider myself a morally good person. One of the step towards my rest was my acceptance of God's views of my behavior. "All my righteousness(not my outlandish sinfull behavior) but my righteousness(the very best I can do) is as filthy rags before the Lord!!! This view shows us are desperate need for the Lord Jesus Christ's grace.

Ask not what Christianity can do for you, but ask what you can do for Christ's sake.

What are the benefits?? seems like thats all people are interested in, what in it for me.I guess thats why it free.why don,t we for just a while think about the obligations of being a christian?? what might they be???we are always asking for stuff from God, how about doing something for God for a change?

The bennies are daily blessings. As long as we surrender our will to Him every morning we are good to go. God is so smart that He knows what is best for us.

Debbie - "A fine moral person, but not a Christian". God says in His word that "there is none righteous no not one". Outside of Christ nobody can live any sort of moral life.

Sue - Those who think that they have "peace happiness and a good home/family" outside of Christ are fooling themselves. Those things are only to be had in Christ, i.e. after you have received His free offer of salvation. Without Christ whatever one has is only a very poor imitation of the real thing.

benefits, we all might be better off thinking much more about what the obligations of being a christians are rather than the benefits.once saved the benefits are a gift from God freely given, but seems the obligations never get much attentions.

If you are a fine moral person, but not a Christian, you are missing out on all the blessings of God. The promises given to Abraham. When anyone accepts Jesus as their Savior, there is a wealth of provision that automatically becomes yours just by becoming a child of God.

It's knowing that He's always there, no matter what. He's the loving Heavenly Father, the friend who sticks closer than a brother, the One who knows me more intimately than I know myself. He's closer than my breath and He proves His love to me day by day.

Jesus reconciles that in Himself by being our peace in any situation and being our right-standing with God apart from our doing.

Apart from Jesus Christ, there is no real lasting peace that passes understanding. Jesus is peace and true peace flows out of a reconciled relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ. What looks like peace in those in the world is nothing but circumstantial "well-being". In other words, their "well-being" is based on their circumstances and whether or not they believe they are "good" or not.

There are sooooo many but I would venture to say My peace I leave you ,not as the world gives but my peace.Well that about covers it for me, the peace of God.

having a loving relationship with my Lord Jesus. All else flows from that!

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
---Rev_Herb on 7/2/06

But what about people who are NOT Christians and have those things? Like, peace and happiness and a good home/family? You can have these benefits WITHOUT being Christian. I mean, if faith doesn't get you anywhere, what good is it?

It is joy, peace and most of all salvation. God will take care of me. He has always fed me, clothed me, gave me a warm home, a great family, A church that is in one accord. Praise God, there is no backbiting or discention in our church. My pastor preaches salvation, hell, blood and doctrine.

What is just so great for me being a Christian on this earth is the fact that I live and walk in the victory that Jesus won on the Cross for me. Without Jesus I just would not make it down here.
