People Raised From The Dead

Is it possible today for the dead to be miraculously raised from the dead as Jesus raised Lazarus?

Moderator - Yes, however it would be very rare.

Catherine please read Acts 3: "... While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomons Colonnade. When Peter saw this, he said to them: Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our OWN POWER OR GODLINESS we had made this man walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus..." Note that Peter says not because of his godliness that such miracle happened. The promisses of God can't be broken

Jeffery, I am glad that you're alive. Glad that someone came to pray for you. God knows the day, hour, minute, we will sure die for good. Nothing can change that fact. It is written already. In your case and many others that have come from the dead to live again, it is only because God's appointed time was not there yet for you or them.
When something happens to any of us and God answers prayers, it is because God intervens to allow you to live until your appointed time. He knows the way, either by bringing someone to pray at the moment, or just putting breath back into you. It is not whether you have faith or not, for many have had awsome faith yet the people have died anyway. God wants us to depend on Him no matter what happens.

Yes the dead are raised in jesus name. In 1977 at the age of 19 due to electrocution by high voltage. After a few minuites getting me down from the platfrom I was on and an additional several minuites of C.P.R with no response, I was dead for a little more than 10 minuites. I was left for dead so to speak. When I opened my eyes, the men gathered around me were staring at me and one of them said, look he's alive. I remem-ber seeing somone walk away as I lay there. I was told minuites later that a man came over, put his hands on my head and chest and said "live and breathe in jesus name".

With God All things are possible. It happens alot in other countries. Their faith isn't "watered" down with religion. They are willing to die (and some do) for their belief in Jesus. With that kind of faith, why wouldn't He raise the dead?!

A few years ago (in Africa?) there was a story about a woman's husband who had died and been embalmed, she took his body to a crusade. They wouldn't let her in the main door but led her to the back to a room under the platform. People started praying for him and he came back to life. They interviewed many peole including the mortician. He leaked embalming fluid for weeks. I'll have to find the story online.

#1 Smith Wigglesworth had great faith, and along with that faith he had a spirit of expectation. I believe that anyone could put into action the dynamite power of the Holy Ghost to raise someone from the dead if they had doubtless faith and a real expectation that God would do it. I read somewhere that Smith Wigglesworth was called to some home where a gentleman had just died. He picked the man up by his coat and stood him up in the corner of the room, telling him to live in Jesus Name.

#2 He let loose of him and he fell to the floor. He picked him up again and said, In the Name of Jesus, I command you to live! He let loose of him and He fell to the floor again. (I think I would have given up by now.) He did the same thing a third time, but when he let go of him he opened his eyes and was definitely alive. Praise God!

#3 I think it is possible for any of us to experience the same thing if only we had that doubtless faith that never gives up, never accepts anything less than what we pray for and expect the seemingly impossible, for nothing is impossible for God.

Yes, I suspect that people like Smith Wigglesworth are being used by God right now but we just don't hear of them. What I remember from reading about him is that he read the Bible only and taught himself to read by it. They say his faith in God was to the point that He knew (not hoped) God would do what He asked for. WOW, I wonder why we don't hear much about this anymore?

Smith Wigglesworth was great. I had some books on him and other missioners and gave them away to guys in detention. He never allowed a newspaper into his house. I suspect he knew the media was the devil's, owned by the occult families.

Yes, Jesus said that we will do his works, John 14:12. Indeed one time when I prayed a dead infant came alive. Jesus commanded them saying, "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons: freely you all have received, freely give. Here I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing will by any means hurt you." Matthew 10:8+ Luke 10:19.

I do not believe that this would be possible today. I have a question. Who is holy enough, walks close to God enough, and is favored by God enough, to do these things? These miracles. The Bible prophets, apostles, holy men and women of God, are not here today. Besides all that, who has that kind of faith today? Most Christians are not even equipped to serve God in any radical way. Not God's fault, either.

Has anyone heard of "Smith Wigglesworth"? There are books out on him and he was supposed to have done this. I don't know much about him though.

I know a missionarie who has witnessed this happen.

That's nice, but the rest of us really don't need to know the blow by blows.
Dropping names is not a good idea.

My marriage, has had its high days and low days, but God knows the score, I put it all in his hands, I have been married for many many years now, God has all the wisdom, I have faith in knowing He will always work things together for good. from past experiences, the woman who stuck their noses in the air and told me SUBMIT! have since paid a HIGH PRICE for their judgements, their husbands divorced them and are now starting new familys with another woman.

Cynthia, do have that kind of faith for your marriage to be resurrected from the dead. Don't answer this on the blog.
If you were 'involved' with your husband before marriage that's why the wedding night was dead. Were you a Christian before or after marriage. If before, how did you not know you were unequally yoked. Don't say he fooled you. If you were a Christian before, all that discernment should have been there as you say it is now.

Yes, I could say something here, but I don't need the ridicule. Lets just say, I excercised my faith, and then, it worked! Amen God.

Apart from Lazarus Jesus raised a womans son and a Roman soldiers daughter. On his death on the cross the tombs opened and previously dead people walked the streets.
Also Elijah and Elisha raised the dead. Maybe Moses did too.

Yes all things are possible to them that believe. However, If as so many seem to believe we go immediately to "Heaven" when we die, why on earth would anyone want to do that? Oh yea I forgot raising them from the dead could be saving them from hell. Do we really have that option?

My grandaughter was raised from the dead after drowning. In Jesus name the spirit of life returned into her.

brothers and sisters, jesus raises people from the dead everyday.
---tom2 on 7/2/06

On thanksgiving day my son was raised from the dead in the presence of many witnesses and the miracle was confessed by his doctors. As a minister I have witnessed many miracles most are explained away never giving God the glory. But with My word I will praise My Jesus of whom I serve, I will shout his praises for his glorious power and majesty. Praise Him Praise Him Praise Him for raising My Son from the dead.

Moderator, Why would it be very rare?

Moderator - Why is it rare? God's will? Not enough people in God's will praying?
---pkay on 7/2/06

pkay, jesus taught that after his accension we who were left would do greter things.everything that the apostles did,and they raised the dead also is possible today.Jesus said he has all power, and he also said Iam the same yesterday today and forever.all things are possible with God.
---tom2 on 7/2/06

Jesus commissioned the 12 to do it. That included Judas. Then he commissioned the 70. Then He commissioned us all. I have witnessed very few Christians trying and some even get angry at the thought but there are many reports comming regularly of the dead being raised.
