I Didn't Listen To God

Two people I knew have passed away in the last month, something inside keeps telling me to go to see them and I didn't go. What can I do now I am besides myself?

While we should obey the promptings of conscience, no purpose is served by tormenting yourself with useless regret.

Ask God's forgiveness, and resolve to be more quick to obey what your conscience tells you you should do.

Don't allow Satan to build a Strong Hold in your mind. Forgive yourself and occupy until Christ return. If you hold on to regrets you will never be effective in your ministry. Remember to keep your eyes on the prize. You are still in the race. Press forward and forget those things that are behind you.

First of all you need to calm down before you have a sick spell, yourself. Go easy and understand why you did what you did. We have choices in life, my friend. Choose to release yourself from these feelings of guilt. Release it now, in the name of Jesus. You need to speak to these demonic feelings and make them go! I don't know if you are born again but you have the power and authority, to make satan(guilt feelings) flee! Learn to put him(devil) on the run. He (satan)is a coward.

Pray. Enter into fellowship with the Father through the power of His Holy Spirit and the intercession of His son and ask His guidance.

I have had the same experience myself, and the ones I should have went to see, passed away. You end up with feeling guilty I know, but ask God to forgive you and He will, and then you need to make peace and forgive yourself.mary4964

Just one question. Were you the only person who was carrying the message that God wanted them to hear. If you say yes how do you know, if you say no, why. My point is that The Lord knew you wouldn't go, He has a million different ways to skin a cat, He has strategies covered in more ways than you understand, thank Him for His grace and mercy, that is all you can do.

Ultimately, I had to come to rest in the fact that God knew I was going to miss it before I did. He just wanted me to know that I wasn't as ready as I thought I was....and to not be so slow in obedience next time.

Carla, rest assured that Jesus didn't miss God in that situation...and it is in Him we trust. I missed God one time in a major way and I was tormented for a long time by my own thoughts of what "could have, should have, or would have" taken place had I listened. We can't live in "could have, should have, or would have's". We live in Him.

Carla, be relieved sister. Forgive yourself. God understands. Don't hold yourself guilty of something you didn't do. It's more important that when they left this earth, you held no grudges or unforgiveness towards them. Be relieved, God's understanding is infinite. Pray and ask God to say hello to them for you. I bet he'll do that for you. They are with Jesus, and you will see them again when you get to heaven.

I stand in agreement with each of these responses.

There is nothing you can do. Let it go.

The Father loves you, and the departed are now in His loving care.

Carla - It is too late now. All you can do is to ask God to forgive you, and let it be a lesson that next time just obey.
---Helen_5378 on 7/10/06

What can you do now? Just remember this experience the next time the Lord prompts you go see some one. When someone dies, it's common to think of things we had planned to do or say to them and feel badly. Even if we are not at fault, we can feel guilty. I imagine you've already asked the Lord for forgiveness. So don't dwell on it. You are forgiven.

Well if these people are dead, there is nothing you can do now. You can't go to them now. We all have gotten to a place where we didn't listen to God and got a beating over it. Ask God to forgive you and next time "listen and do what he tells you to do".
