Can We Send Someone To Heaven

Out of curiousity, how much weight do you feel we have on a person's soul? It's our commission to tell the good news, but do we have the "power" to send someone to hell by our actions, or lack thereof? Please support your opinion with scripture if you can.

How shall they know about Heaven?
Romans 10:13-15 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

John 12:48 - He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

A person sends themselves to hell by rejecting Jesus's words, and by not believing the gospel. You are responsible for yourself and to preach the gospel, you are not responsible to make people receive and believe the gospel. WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING the bible says.

2/... I think that it is wrong to blame Christian/s for anyone not being saved. It is Jesus who saves, and if it is His will for a person to be saved, then they will be saved no matter what.

I really do believe that if a person is going to be saved, then they will be saved no matter what. Before I got saved I had things come against me from Christians that would have put other people off, but Jesus still came and got me. If a person truly does not want to be saved then nothing that anyone says can bring them in. The opposite is true -- if one truly wants to be saved then they will be saved.

Katie, your responsibility is to simply tell what Jesus has done for you and what you believe--and leave the rest to the Holy Spirit.

You are not responsible for the spiritual choices of anybody.

Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would convert people.

I'm willing to bet next month's rent money that NOBODY on these blogs has "H. Spirit" as the name on the birth certificate.

Indeed we are all called to spread the gospel! The verses I quoted were to get people thinking about the principle: If I know of a danger (hell) and do not warn people, this verse serve as a warning that, at the least, I am not doing my job.

Robert, if I was silent and didn't preach the gospel, then the prostitute I witnessed to wouldn't have gotten saved. I went up to her and befriended her like Jesus befriended the woman at the well. I then invited her to the meeting I was attending with a VERY anointed man of God preaching. She wept and went up front at the end and got saved. If I had kept silent Robert, would she have gotten saved that night? So we are ALL called to preach. Bruce can clarify this for me...thank you Bruce.

Robert, I think you misinterpreted my "preach the gospel" statement. Bruce, can you clarify. Aren't we all called to spread the good news of the gospel? Robert, I think you mean preach on a pulpit. That's not what I meant at all. I share Jesus with people every day of my life, at work, at the store, at the train station, with strangers in the supermarket, that's what I meant by Preach the everyone!!!!

Ezekiel 33:6-9, "But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
---Bruce5656 on 7/24/06

When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul."

You are responsible for yourself and to preach the gospel

Donna, You are right on the money with the original question, but no-one has the right to preach unless called of God, as was Aaron, by revelation of God and by the hands of a living prophet.

Sam ... I like that!! Multiple fathers instead of multiple wives!!
But DNA testing nowadays could sort out the real father!!
The Mormons thugh do believe in a lot of odd things which are not supportable fromthe Bible
---alan8869_of_UK on 7/24/06

The mormoms probably believe you can have four fathers too.....they believe in polygamy.

Everyone has a choice in everything we do, if we chose to be a good witness, then we will if not, we won't. We don't have the power to send anyone to hell or heaven, but our walk with God will either influence someone or we will plant a bad seed. It is up to each of us to chose how we reflect on the lost.
---Rebecca_D on 7/24/06

The Mormons of course think that you can send your forefathers to heaven.
