Be Sure That I Am A Christian

Is it possible not to know when I became a Christian? There is the time (1992) when I prayed to God to ask for Him to forgive me, but I am uncertain whether I really was a Christian after that? Is that possible? I remember that time in 1992 as when I because a Christian, but.

--Donna9759 in the light of your answer to Pete, and the fact that I myself fall so for short, May I inquire, you do all that you tell Pete to do? Also, I would like to ask, do you believe God turned Pete down when he asked for forgiveness? If so read John 6:37," and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."

peter, if you are a Christian now, you'd be living by doing what the Word says to do. Sounds like you think once you prayed you became a Christian and didn't live the Christian life. How can you know? Do you obey the word of God? Do you forgive your enemies? Turn the other cheek? Do you do what the beautitudes say to do? Do you seek Jesus everyday in His word? Do you love him with all of your heart and soul? Do you pray on a REGULAR basis? Do you go to church on Sundays? Do you fast? Are you born again?

Yes, I have forgotten totally the date that I got born-again -- not sure I ever took much notice of it.... except I do know that it is now about 8 years ago. When you ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of all your sins and confess Jesus as Lord and ask Him to come and be your Lord and Saviour, that is when you become a Christian.

They only way to find out is the good ole' fashioned way, get down on your knees and make sure your saved. You don't need to talk to a Pastor, because like us they don't know. But I wouldn't take any chances, I'd talk with God one on one.

#2 Peter-His promises are sure and certain, even in the midst of intellectual doubts, confusion over doctrine, emotional ups and downs, and moral failings. Faith is created and strengthened not by looking inside self (to one's own faith and/or doubts) but by looking outside self--to God's Word and promises in Christ.

Peter, anxious thoughts regarding doubts, the strength of your faith, and certainty of salvation, are sure signs of faith, not signs of unbelief. The unbeliever has no concern about faith, doubts, or salvation. Seek for the assurance of your salvation by looking outside yourself to God's Word and promises in Christ, not inward at the strength or weakness of your own faith. Looking inward creates either pride and false assurance or doubt and lack of assurance.

Hey Peter, I wouldn't take any chances. You need to talk with a good pastor. You need to ask Christ Jesus into your heart and to be your personal Savior. Then, you need to start doing your part to build a relationship with God. Getting to know God is just like getting to know a new friend...but He will always be there. Satan will try to steal your knowledge again, but you will always know this time. I don't remember the date I was saved, but I know I have been saved.

Peter, one way to know if you are saved or not is, Love. If you you do have a love for Christ it is impossible to be a Christian without it. The lost don't have a love for Christ. They know about Him, know who He is, but want nothing to do with Him. To believe in the existence of God merely qualifies us to be demons. It is one thing to believe "in" God: it is another thing " to believe God."To trust in Him for our very life, is the essence of the Christian faith.

Even nonchristians ask God for forgiveness, so that alone does not mean someone is saved. There is one way, and that way is Jesus and His death and resurrection. Do you believe Jesus died for you and your sins were nailed to the cross with Jesus? (Thereby put to death) and that He rose again giving new life? I believed in Jesus for years before realizing that He took my sin away and died in my place. Bless you, seek and ye SHALL find

If you are saved, you will know it. I grew up in church but was not saved for 20 years. But when asked if I was saved, I wasn't sure, so then a pastor led me to Christ.
