I hope that you will keep reading, because God tells me that His messages will get stronger.
---catherine on 3/10/08

It can be because for someone God might have said to them to sleep a little less and pray more ,and for someone something else. So if that person doesn't obey God, it is sin.
---ansha5385 on 3/10/08

catherine: ".. You are the son of Satan, which makes Satan your father."

I've read many of your posts and you speak like a frightened, defensive child. Let go of your hate and your pride and allow the Holy Spirit to talk through you. You are speaking with your mind not your heart for you would never speak like you do. I don't fear you or how you describe me or how you speak of me. I invite you, or anyone, to follow me for one day. You would surely have a different perspective.
---Steveng on 3/7/08

Satan has memorized scriptures. Satan has read the Bible.. You are the son of Satan, which makes Satan your father.
---catherine on 3/7/08

catherine: "If you study the Bible you"ll understand."

I probably studied the Bible way before you were born and I never read anything about what you just said.

What I learned from the Bible is for ALL of mankind, not just the Jews, nor just the Christians, nor just the unbelievers. We are all in this together. No favorites from God.
---Steveng on 3/6/08

I am telling you that this is only for God's people. Noone is talking about murder, rape or robbery. I am trying to say, some preachers, God will allow to do things and others He will not. Perhaps circumstances plays a roll. If you study the Bible you"ll understand. Now, if you have a problem with this. Well, what can I say. I am sure some of us has to live a tighter lives than perhaps your Sunday school teachers. We all should, but how many are willing to walk this close to God to know something?
---catherine on 3/6/08

Alan: my last reply was about a year ago, and the same reply came up again several days ago. I didn't rewrite my reply. StevenG, God's word isn't for sinners to understand or to comprehend. God's word is spiritualy discerned. What you think is a sin, may not be a sin for me. It is called conscience. It lets one know what their doing is wrong or isn't wrong.
---Rebecca_D on 3/5/08

Let me get this straight. It's a sin for some people and not a sin for others. So, if I go out and murder someone, it's a sin. If someone else goes out and murders someone and he thinks it's not a sin, it is not a sin. That doesn't make sense. It's called relativism. God does not beat around the bush when it comes to sin. It's written there in black and white in the Scriptures what is and isn't a sin.
---Steveng on 3/5/08

YES, it is possible. Now, this is for only God's people whom He has chosen and whom He can reach out and slap upside the head when in sin.
---catherine on 3/5/08

You missed my point.

Suppose there is some innocent, non-sin activity (like, say, eating meat).

If you have no problem with it, it's fine.

But if you are filled with guilt every time you contemplate eating meat (because you think it's wrong), and you do it ANYWAY, then it's a sin for YOU - because you're willingly doing something you believe to be wrong.

However, that same act isn't a sin for everyone else, because they DON'T believe that it's wrong.
---StrongAxe on 3/5/08

To God all sin IS sin. It doesn't matter if it seems like sin to one person and not another. If it is sin, God says it's all the same.
---Leslie on 3/4/08

Something can be a sin for one and not another. If something isn't wrong, but you feel guilty about it, it's a sin for you.

Paul talked about eating meat sacrificed to idols. That's fine, but if you BELIEVE eating such meat is idolatry, you sholdn't do it.

Law is similar: if you shoot a dead person, you're guilty of attempted murder because you BELIEVE you are committing a crime.
---StrongAxe on 3/4/08

Rebecca ... another old blog surfaces!
---alan_of_UK on 3/3/08

Yes. God don't show everyone the samething every time. For example, I smoke, to me it isn't wrong but for others it is. Until a person comes to the knowledge of what they are doing is a sin, it isn't a sin to them.
---Rebecca_D on 3/3/08

Yes. If God tells you specifically to do something, or not to do something, which may not be written in the Bible, and you don't do what God says, then that becomes a sin. I know a couple God told specifically to not buy anything they did not have cash for (don't use credit cards!).
---wes on 7/17/07

Yes, for example, if I know that I am sensitive to spicy food and eating it makes me ill, but I indulge in it anyhow, then that is sin to me; but if someone else enjoys spicy food and it is good for them, and they eat it, then that is not a sin to them. Therefore many times one man's medicine is another man's poison.

rachel, dont forget to look up to keep your eye on the goal, and to look down to see and evade the pitfalls, and choose to follow the narrow path. May Yahushua bless you in that walk.
---Toby on 11/16/06

A sin is a sin no matter who commits it. In other words if someone goes out and steals that is a sin, but if I went out and stole it would also be a sin for me. Bruce, I think what Paul was saying in Romans 14 is we should not judge a person for eating meat, as you said.
---Norma7374 on 11/16/06

Paul makes it very clear that something can be sin for one and not another according to their own convictions. Read Romans chapter 14.
There were some who believed that to eat meat was sin. Now this was not about the eating of meat per-say, it was about the eating of meat offered to idols and then put out in the market - the "shambles" (I Cor 10:25) to be sold.
---Bruce5656 on 11/16/06

Some felt to eat such meat was sinful since it had been sacrificed to idols. On this matter, Paul made it clear:
v.3,10-13 we were not to judge each other by what we eat
v.4-6 or according to what day we might think deserves greater regard (ie Sat vs Sun)
with respect to the meat or days:
v.14 Romans 14, nothing (is) unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be
---Bruce5656 on 11/16/06

unclean, to him it is unclean.
Romans 14:22-23, "Hast thou faith? (that what you eat is OK?) have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth

Notice the last verse And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin."
---Bruce5656 on 11/16/06

In other words, if you are not sure if it is right or wrong and you do it anyway (with lack of conviction that it is OK) that is sin even if it is not, in fact, wrong at all. - because you cannot say with conviction it is OK. (whatsoever is not of faith is sin).
---Bruce5656 on 11/16/06

James 4:17. To him who knows to do good but doesn't do it, to him it is sin.
God shows different people different things.
Also, I would be sinning if I offend you in something that isn't a sin. Read 1 Cor.8 were Paul deals with eating meat in the presence of vegetarians. To one it's a sin to eat meat and to the other it's not. God lets you make up your own mind.
---john on 11/16/06

Good Point Toby...we're not to judge...i'm too concerned w/ my own walk to look to the right or to the left of me...

The sin or not sin can be in proportian to the knowledge. eg: if I was to walk out of a shop helping myself to some sweets on the way people would prob perceive that as a sin, until they learned I owned the shop. The thing is not to be concerned, or judge the other as you dont know the circumstances and in all things be true to yourself and to your Saviour. Another eg. If I give someone strong alcohol, they may be sick read Prov 31:6
---Toby on 11/16/06

Example; I think it is a sin for a Christian to drink any alcohol, but some Christians don't see where it is wrong, so to them it isn't wrong. If it is wrong for them, then God will show them it is wrong.
---Rebecca_D on 11/14/06

This is definately possibe. Each person has a certain set of CONVICTIONS. I have a conviction against eating meat. Meat is sin. If a non-vegetarian eats meat, it isn't sin. I have a conviction against alcohol. If I drink alcohol, I am acting against my vow, but I it is my pleasure to serve it! The prophet Daniel had a conviction against certain foods. Samson had a conviction about the length of his hair. Know your OWN heart. Know your OWN convictions.

---Reiter on 11/14/06

Sin or Wrong is absolute; But a particular sin may not necessarily be a particular sin to every person; for example, if a person is allergic to spicey food which cause ulcers when they eat it, and they eat it anyhow, then that is a sin to this person; now if another person is not allergic to spicey food and they enjoy eating it, then that is not a sin to this person.

I don't believe that something can be sin for one and not another. Sin is sin. So, if somebody says it was sin for you but not for me, they are probably resisting it.
---Helen_5378 on 9/13/06

I am glad GOD is in charge of salvation ,,because if any of us were I think we would all condemn each other to Hell. lololol
---willow on 9/12/06

Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
---Exzucuh on 7/29/06

this is not a delicate question.the only difference in sins is a gender issue. men not being and doing what is required of them, and the same for that being said all other sin is mutual shared the same identical for every human that has or ever will live.

---Donna2277 on 7/28/06

How much slack does God give a person who is not spiritually wise when it comes to sin? It's better to be safe than sorry and pray for wisdom often! God said my people perish because of lack of wisdom, and God is not going to take the blame for them perishing.
---Mrs._Morgan on 7/28/06

Shari, this is a topic that must be handled with care, because people should not think they can sin, and be okay and someone else isn't. People never get the "okay" to sin, the bottom line is to do what the Holy Spirit leads you to do, you will never go wrong with that, just make sure it's the Holy Spirit and not your own spirit leading you! You know what I mean?

Shari, can you please explain what you mean about sin being defined differently for different people? God is not a respector of persons, but God does look at the "whole" picture, some people have more wisdom than others concerning the scriptures, is this what you mean? It would help if you give examples.
---Mrs._Morgan on 7/28/06

Sin is sin. It is the same for everyone. To know to do something and not do it is sin. To know not to do something and do it is sin. It's all the same. It is really sad that anyone today would say that they don't think that smoking is sin. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. I just know that when I meet Jesus I don't want to have to make excuses for what I thought was more important than him.

They had a problem with a heater, but didn't have cash to fix it. God had spoken to them earlier about not going into debt (using credit card for something they didn't have money for).
---wes on 7/28/06

Ryan, I like your stance on sin, it's the stance that God expects from His people, there's nothing innocenct about sin, it needs to be uncovered and destroyed with the Blood of Jesus, you know!

Alan; not thinking it is a sin, but believing it to be a sin. There is a big difference. Again, those people you spoke of are in the same boat as Hitler, because they haven't come to the knowledge that what they done was/is a sin. Lev 4:22-23, 28, Jer 4:22, Heb 10:26. there is a verse somewhere in the bible that says that until a person comes to the knowledge it isn't a sin to them, but when they come to the knowledge of it, it becomes a sin. I am still looking for that verse.
---Rebecca_D on 7/28/06

Anything not of faith is sin. Going to church and not believing is sin. Sharing the word without faith in believing what you say or even post is sin.
---Shari on 7/28/06

Paul made that perfectly clear. The Lord discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart of each person. What may be sin to one may not be sin to another. Scriptures about esteeming one day above another and to the Lord. Four things for Gentiles to avoid. There are few sins that cover all. One would be blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. Most are individual to individual such as references to our "liberty" and such.
---Shari on 7/28/06

Rebecca ... Personally I do not think that smoking is a sin, although I do not like people smoking near me.
But I have to take issue with you on your premise that a sin is not a sin unless you think it is, for this is what you seem to say.
There is a distinct group of oeople in the UK (and I have no doubt that it is an international group) who say that sex with children is not wrong, in fact it brings true Love into the children's lives.
Need I say more?
---alan8869_of_UK on 7/28/06

Using Rebbeca_D's logic if a serial rapist doesn't come to a knowledge that what he is doing is a sin, than it is not a sin for him to rape. Sin is sin period. Galations five explains the deeds of the flesh I consider this to be a great example of sinful behaviours. Denying the power of the Holy Spirit to change you is a horrible sin. Being in the flesh and not submitting to the will of God is sin and it's the same for everyone.
---Ryan on 7/28/06

Consider the Word re "sin". James 1:14-15 .. when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, etc. However, we can be forgiven and cleansed according to I John 1:9. As Christians, we grow in our faith at different levels. God deals with us as we grow and reveals what is sin in our lives. It doesn't mean it wasn't sin prior to our seeing it that way, it means that God was dealing with us in another area and we haven't received a conviction about the other area.
---Lunetta on 7/28/06

Please be careful, we can not pick and choose what is "our" sin or not. God doesn't discriminate, or only dictate sins that are easy for you to follow. God does not give us all the same tasks, but disobedience of any kind is a sin against God. You must know God and seek His will, or one day you will come to judgement and God will say; "I never knew you" because you never truly knew Him, or His will.

The Bible says that wine in small amounts can be taken for stomach problems(medicine), but some people have a problem with self control, and a little for their stomach sake becomes the whole bottle, We must pray for God's wisdom in these matters so that we make the right decisions, God said come let us reason together, reason with what ?with His Word, God can not be separated from His Word, the Truth.
---Mrs._Morgan on 7/28/06

Rebecca_D , can you honestly picture Jesus sitting down smoking with a beer in His hand? The Bible says that Jesus turned water into wine, people assume intoxicating wine, but that doesn't make sense! People in the middle east have different kinds of wine, fermintation in the key. God would never give someone a tool to sin. Godly wisdom is a must.
