Can I Date A Witch

My friends and family hate my fiance because she is a Witch. Witchcraft has nothing to do with the devil and I'm totally okay with it. Some of my friends and family have said they'll never talk to me if I marry her. Any suggestions?

Moderator - Since you are not a Christian, why do they care who you marry? Only Christians should marry Christians according to the Bible.

Witchcraft is one of the most hated of all the sins in the Bible. The OT tells the leaders not to suffer a witch to live. There is no good magic and bad magic. Magic is bad. Herbalism is okay, even astronomy is okay. It is when you get into the realms of using these to control other people, to deceive them, to frighten them into acting a certain way. If you want a demon in you, go ahead and date a witch.

A person is a person all that maders is if they have a good heart if they love and can be loved who cares if they do witchcraft and have you ever herd of White magic its good magic! try that if it doesn't work who care as long as they have a warm heart who cares!

James:- You have had 2and a half years, what are your findings .Did she see the light or you the darkness?Your reply will make the difference in your TRUE reply, for many.
---MIC on 9/9/08

Witch is darkness and can't be together with the light. So, my suggestion is, if you know that she is witch and you love her, please ask her to open her heart to God and be delievered from her witchcraft, if she says no she is comfortable with her witchcarft then I do not see why you can marry someone who can kill you and destroy your family?
---Peter on 9/9/08

Like the moderator said "you must not be christian" But here is some bible scripture for you. Its in the book of Deutoeronomy chapter 18 verses 10-12. "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures up spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. for all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you. Then Read Romans 10:9, get saved, and God will send his Holy Spirit to show you this is wrong.
---steve on 9/8/08

YES, listen to your family and friends. Witchcraft is of the devil. And you need to STOP listening to him. My friend.
---catherine on 9/8/08

I have done much research on many different religions and beliefs, including witchcraft. The satanic bible and the Holy Bible agree on one thing, there are only two forces in the universe. Good and evil. God and devil. I have seen the dark up close and in person and believe me, IT IS REAL and God willing I will live through it. If your girl friend is truly a witch then she is also possessed. A Human Being CANNOT be a witch unless possessed. They can chant, burn thousands of candle and incense, make all their intentions, bottom line, if anything is done it is done by demons. I know this for fact!
---Lloyd on 9/8/08

There are those who simply worship nature, and there are those who go all the way down the idolatry path to sacrificing human beings. It is a deception to think that witchcraft has disappeared or even reduced, it is now at the height of its power so far, and will continue to grow.
---frances008 on 3/30/08

Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.>The King James version AND AFTER read "witch".Before King James became afraid of his 2nd wife because of her "powers of old",the verse read poisioner and prisioner. In that time that was equal to a muderer.Being a seeker is much better.Nothings wrong with checking for yourshelves.I often tell people if they want to call me a sinner, thats fine, perhaps I am of Cains lintage. Not Ables.Think about it.How much research have you done?
---INHERSERVICE on 3/29/08 can marry a witch if you are also a pagan. But...if you are a born-again Christian...that is NOT biblical. The bible says, what does darkness have to do with light? Witchcraft is darkness, being a Christian is being in the Light. The two do not mix and to marry in with this combination is being "unequally yoked". And by the way...witchcraft is TOTALLY of the devil and not of God in any way, shape or form.

While the wages of ALL sin is death, we don't treat all sins the same.

You would feel very differently about someone who stole your newspaper than you would to someone who used a machine gun to shoot up your neighborhood.

Equating use of potions/poisons (a death penalty offence) with people who worship nature today is just an accident (or perhaps a deliberate prejudice?) by people who translated the KJV. It is NOT in the original Hebrew.
---StrongAxe on 11/7/07

We learn fron the Old Testement and deal with situations with the New Testament Guidance. NO one not even a Murderer should die for the sins Christ already paid the price for that sin. But we should have mercy on the life of that person and use other provisions of order where Human life will be affected by evil/cults.
---Carla5754 on 11/1/07

Strong Axe, I see your point, but we must remember, that anything that exalts itself against God is considered sin, And God considered witchcraft a sin that required the death penalty. No matter what kind of witchcraft it is. God loves the person, hates the sin, and they can repent before it is to late.

Whisper: (1)

One major problem that happens in any discussion (whether here or elsewhere) is when people pretend to talk about the same thing, but are in fact talking about totally different things, because they use the same set of words but use them to mean different things.

(Just look at the word "Minister" - it can mean a religious leader, it can also mean a government official. If two people are confused as to which meaning they are talking about, they can argue over nothing).
---StrongAxe on 11/1/07

Whisper: (2)

Exodus 22:18 "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live".
The hebrew word for "witch" here is "mechashefah" which means "a female who whispers incantations". (The Greek Septuagint translation, from which Jesus and the apostles often quote, uses the word "Pharmakous" which refers to someone tho uses drugs and potions and poisons)
---StrongAxe on 11/1/07

Whisper: (3)

In English, the word "witch" referrs to a practitioner of pagan Celtic beliefs, such as wicca (which did not even exist when Exodus was written, so it could not have been about that).

However, people in general (and Christians in particular) have often lumped anything they have seen as evil into the same bucket - so ANYONE with different beliefs was AUTOMATICALLY seen as worhipping Satan implicitly, so it's a small step to accusing them of worshipping Satan explicitly.
---StrongAxe on 11/1/07

Whisper: (4)

Women who kept to themselves, and grew herb gardens, and kept lots of pets were seen as odd, and therefore distrusted - and of course, whenever anything went wrong that was unexplained, it was easiest to just treat them as scapegoats: "the cow gave sour milk - the witch must have cursed it". Many total innocents were burned at the stake because of ignorance and paranoia.
---StrongAxe on 11/1/07

Whisper: (5)

So the word "witch" has come to also signify the epitome of female evil - ugly old women casting horrible curses at people (and often fabled to do other miraculous things like flying on broomsticks, etc.) So, in THIS Sense of a word, Exodus 22:18 applies.

However, when modern Wiccans call themselves "witches", they are using the word in its original meaning, which as totally different, and unrelated to what Exodus 22:18 prohibits.

Mozen: (1)

That's right, let's replace the sin of witchcraft with the sin of murder...

In what country to you live, that you find it appropriate to kill someone because of their beliefs? While such practices may be common in Iran, they are NOT acceptable in any English-speaking country that I know of. And I don't know anywhere in the New Testament where it was mentioned either.

Mozen: (2)

Look at the New Testament for guidance. How many unbelievers did Jesus kill? How many did the apostles kill? The only case I can remember was Ananias and Sapphira - and these were not unbelievers, but believers who lied to the Holy Spirit.
---StrongAxe on 11/1/07

Hello, witchcraft is of the DEVIL. There is either God or Satan. This is not of God. It is worshiping idols. God condemnes it. It brings the death penality. Exodus 22-18 and Lev. 20-27. The law of Moses, Some prophetic writings, and also historical writings all condemns this DEMONIC practice. Consulting mediums, who contact the dead forbidden by God. Saul was guilty of this practice. God also condemns magic of any FORM. Listen to your friends and family.
---catherine on 10/31/07

Hello, Witchcraft is nothing to do with Satan and does not recognise the excistance of such a charactor. Satanist 'worship' satan, witches do not. Most witches have a great respect/tolerence of all other religious beliefs. Personally I believe all beliefs are basically the same just practised in different ways. Blessed be.
---kate on 10/31/07

carla - whisper quoted scripture and said death to witchcraft not witches.

It is not a good idea for anyone to get involved with pagans or pagan practices. we could quote scripture but I'd never promote hurting them or forcing them to convert and I'm sure whisper wouldn't either.

be blessed.

---Marina on 9/5/07

Regardless of whether you consider witchcraft to be "the Religion of the Devil" or merely an alternative belief system, you must consider:

2 Corinthians 6:14
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"

If you two of you share different spiritual values, it will likely cause friction at some point.

In a prior life I used powerful magic, but it's nothing. Don't make a stupid mistake and dirty your soul. There are consequences for the choices we make. If you haven't learned the word "regret" yet, than eventhough you would not want to, you will learn it very soon, for "An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure." When we make good choices in life than we will be blessed, and if we make poor choices than the losses we sustain may be more than what we ever wanted to pay

You've heard the saying, "Those who are not for me, are against me." The Old Testament warns against witches/witchcraft. Witches and witchcraft are NOT of God,and therefore against Him. There are two spiritual forces in this world - God and Satan. If witches and witchcraft are not of God, then they are of Satan. Don't fool yourself into thinking it's all harmless. If you've accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, it's important that you read and study the Word to gain wisdom and knowledge.
---Pat on 6/15/07

My experience of witches as they have all promoted at the basic level a relative philosophy. "Don't judge me..." There are reasons why secular academia have not used relative ethics as an objection to Theists. A few reasons to start with, you can only tolerate that which you do disagree with. To disagree with anything you have judged it. Another, its circular reasoning, the battle cry "don't judge me!" requires judgement that they are infact judging.
---Marty on 6/15/07

This is the reason relative ethics on a philosophic perspective are seen to degrade the person espousing them in philosophic circles(this translates to reality as well).

Now I don't know if the witches that seem to be advocating their practice are relativists or not but it my experience that they are.
---Marty on 6/15/07

The ethic "there is no ethic is an ethic." And it is materialistic, nihilistic, and fatalistic among other things. Thats why people don't hold it to be rational. So personally unless you have practical methods of implementing your strategies that many an idealistic philosophy has strived for and failed, your position is either incoherrent or niave.

P:S the reason for the technical jargon is the witches do not seem to be articulating an alternative position.
---Marty on 6/15/07

Another thought the only reason that witchcraft is tolerated is because the majority hold values that do not require the death of them in principle; you can afford to be a minority witch in a western-liberal democratic state society (based on christian world view and christian principles). And I pray for your safety if you are not in one.

You are guilty by association, therefore, you will be in danger of Hellfire as she is. How can you be ok with something like that? Witchcraft is pure evil. Nothing good can come from your relationship with this Witch. Witches can cast spells and do all sorts evil things. Be afraid for your own life, as well. Seem as though she has you under her spell already, if you want to defy your family and friends, and marry this Witch.
---Robyn on 6/14/07

I understand that Witches practice Wicca and do not directly worship Satan. However, if you are not with God, you are against Him. The fact that your fiance worships something other than God, puts her at emnity with Him. If you doubt that God exists and are willing to bet your soul on that, then good luck with your marriage. But if you believe in God, then you should think very hard on this - would you want to have your wife and children burn in Hell because you were "totally ok with it"?
