MTV Is Acceptable For Kids

Stand True Ministries (a young adult pro-life ministry) recently protested in New York at the MTV studio on how they portray women, sex and abortion to young people. Do you think MTV is that influential and what can we do to make them change their ways.

Are we learning what is written in Acts of Apostles(8:21)? Morality and ethics in our Pop Culture, has declined because of free speech, freedom of Expression. If "Woodstock " was an "Expression of Love", what is today's Generation doing!! Holiness should be heeded, as we read, "You have no part in this Ministry because your Heart is not right with God"

Unfortunately, MTV, VH1 and BET are extremely influential on the younger generation. I did not permit my kids to watch those channels. In the rehab I work in part time, the adult clients are forbidden to watch them. Too much sensuality and visual stimulation goes on there.

I find nothing good to say about MTV. I listen to country and southern rock. Letting kids watch MTV is borderline satanic. Change their ways? Let the free maket prevail, block it from your TV or call your cable company, such calls, in masse may make them drop the channel.

Shira, thank you. We recently visited a local church that was presenting a "show" for the Lord. Shortly after the pastor's daughter (17) began a modern dance to rock "Christian" music wearing ballet tights, we quietly arose and left. I just can not find biblically where such would occur in God's house or by His people for Him. We will pray for her and her family. Of all the things we can not control in our lives, why sacrifice what we can control in the name of being modern?

Oh Mike, how I wish you were with me on the independent, fundamental blog. I could have used your support concerning rock music. I was flogged nearly to death in support of worldly music in church. My daughter is allowing my grandaughter age 10 to be in some sort of skit on mtv. It grieves me to know she is selling her daughters soul to the devil. I pray God will intervene in this situation. Will you pray for her also?

As with ANYthing of this world, how much of God is in it? Can we ban night clubs, bars, indy 500,etc.? Just leave 'em alone. They will go where God wants 'em. All of the worldly stuff is part of a funnel. Looking in isn't so bad but it will suck you down to Satan's place. Just find something Godly to replace it. NOT "Christian" Rock&Roll. IF you dress a pig up in a tux, it's still a pig.

My thoughts on this topic are drawn from 1 Cor 5:9-10, 12-13. Verse 9-10: I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people, not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. Verses 12-13: What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside ...
I do not see MTV as being any business of the church.

MTV is like any other tv thing. If you communicate with your child that it is wrong how they are acting then it is harmless, but to let your children watch it unsupervised and constantly is not good.

Yes, things on tv, whether it be MTV, or anything else, are that influential. MTV is NOT good for children to watch, unless you want them thinking their acceptance is to be found in the things that MTV promotes, i.e. "sex, drugs, and rock and roll." I listened to all of the trash music when I was growing up, and I tell you it did nothing but make me more ego-centrical and perverted in my mind. By God's grace I am away from that now and don't even desire to hear any of that type of music again.
