Oil Companies Charging Too Much
How do you all like the US Fuel companies? Exxon posted their quarterly profit of 100 million and was unhappy with it, and they are still charging over $3.00 a gallon. Now the Alaskian oil line is shut down as well.
Moderator - Their quarterly profits are closer to $10 billion not $100 million.

I personally think that gas doesn't cost enough *dodges rotten tomatoes*.
Seriously, though, the price of oil doesn't begin to cover the actual cost to the environment. Not to mention the cost of getting to it. *cough-Iraq-cough*
If oil cost more, people would start buying local produce, stop buying foreign goods of cheap plastic which require yet more oil to ship, and stop wasting what is an unrenewable resource on dollar store junk and Happy Meal toys. |

Oh, I just LOVE US Fuel companies. Don't you?
Every night I pray for hours that they will be able to make more profits. And sometimes I lose sleep wondering if they will indeed do so.
Now, what do you propose to do about it unless you stop driving?
(I remember in his State of the Union address, George Bush accused Americans of being "addicted to oil". Well, just who was one of the biggest pushers in the country?) |

We are being bilked and there is not too much we can do about it. Oh, we could quit driving to work, church and school, groceries and etc couldn't we? I remember back in l967 we were stationed with a girl from England. She told me their gas was $1.00 per gallon and I nearly fell over. At that time we were paying about 35 cents per gallon for gas. |

Sorry, it is more than that. We pay a fraction under 6 for a gallon. And our is worth about 1.6 times a $ So our price per gallon is about $10 |

The price of petrol (gas) in the UK is double that in the States!! And the bulk of the cost is the tax that the government imposes. |

They obviously aren't paying attention to what Jesus said: "Don't store up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy." That money means nothing because, "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?" Why aren't they giving it to the poor? Or Research centers for Pediatric cancer patients? What would you do if you had all that money? I'd be feeding the poor every day! |
