Truth be told, there are only TWO churches.
Descibed as two seperate women:

Satan's church:
Revelation 17:5 And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
( many denominations fall into this church)

God's church
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, and have the TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST
( one denomination)

The One God Jesus name Church of The Living God Is according to Mark 16 v 16, Acts 2 v's 37 - 41 which Fulfills Matt.28 v's 19 - 20 delivered to the Jewish First by Apostle Peter on the day of Pentecost. The early Church & still lives today for Truths sake.

*there are still people starting their own churches because they cannot find one with which they agree totally. Can this be right?*

Paul while in prison noted those that preach with the disputeable motives but comented that it was good that Christ was being preached nonetheless. Phil. 1:15.

So if others want to start their own church let them do so if they continue to preach Christ.

no its not right.but is is a sign of the end times.just as many left jesus when he told them who he was and where he came from people just don,t accept one another words thoughts or actions.we just don,t get along here in this life. Why? because we let the flesh rule our thinking.and our choices.

I believe there are born again in most denominations. Just because there are doctrinal issues does not mean we are not brothers and sisters in Christ. If people will look, they can find a place where they fit and can do God's will. There is surely no need for another kind of denomination.

Many new churches, Bible studies and meetings are started by people who have the "spirit of evangelism". Having no outlet to use the spirit of evangelism they try to create one of their own making. This evangelistic spirit drives them to have an outlet for their message. This drive is relentless it is a fire down in their bones.

wolves and tares are not a part of Christ church.

Rebecca, I am happy that you have the facilities at your disposal to go to a church of your choice which is 30 miles away. It would be wrong to move from such a church when you are spiritually fed, happy there and being used by God. Sadly some of us have only our 2 feet to get to church so closeness is extremely important. When visiting a relative I attend a church where one man travels almost 40 miles each way, goes home for his dinner and does it all again for the evening service. WOW.

Of course this isn't right, but this is Gods way to keep the many called decieved.
Joh 9:39 AND JESUS SAID, For judgment I am come into this world, THAT THEY which see not might see; AND THAT THEY which see might be made blind.
All of Jesus's words are spiritual words, He isn't talking about physical sight here. So would Jesus try to hide His word from the multitudes? Of course He would!!

bottom line, we have a perfect God,with a perfect plan, with a perfect son,and a perfect spirit, trying to save an imperfect people.

I travel almost 30 miles to get to my church one way. Why you ask? Because that is where God wants me right now. I feel at home, this is where God has used me the most, and I am going to stay there until he moves me out. So I can't understand someone starting up their own church just because it is close to their home.

I can understand people starting a new church nearer to their own community if they are having to travel a long way to their choice of church, but some people start a totally new church of no specific denomination. They tend to do this because they don't like all the ones they have tried and, I suspect, some people simply want to be a big fish in a small pond (their own) than be a little fish in a big pond (someone else's).

there are over 34,000 Christian demoninations; 250 new ones created every day.

Maybe these little churches are gonna reach people who would otherwise never be reached. Leading others to Jesus Christ is the main idea of our existence. I like some of the self started Bible Believing little churches even though i am a member of a large church. I think they offer more emotional support and are often like family.

The gates of hell have NOT prevailed if they had there would be no Christianet.com and we would all not be having this conversation. Personally I believe that due to disobidence we have been scattered maybe for similar reasons to Israel.

Jack, the church Christ was speaking about is the saved, born again believer...which is the church. The gates of hell will NOT prevail against Christs' church.

Shira-- AMEN!
>>I believe there are born again in most denominations. Just because there are doctrinal issues does not mean we are not brothers and sisters in Christ<<

I agree. There are many here who have been made new creatures in Christ. They love Jesus, pray in His name, and try to please Him in every way. They may believe some things differently than another but are not therefore condemned to hell, as some will say. I don't believe the Lord is magnified in such divisiveness.

People are starting their own churches today because many of them don't want to hear the truth preached. Many want to play church.

The Holy Spirit doesn't lead CHURCHES into all truth, He leads people into all truth. The gates of hell prevail against Christians who are decieved and choose to sin even though God's word tells us NOT TO. "If you love me, you'll obey me."
God has saved a remnant for Himself...and the Holy Spirit is working through these TRUE Christians. I hope you are one of them. God Bless you.

The main reason why people start their own churches is because they don't like the word being stepped on their toes and don't want to quit doing things. They want their cake and eat it too. And on the other hand, the Pastor of the church let sin in behind the pulpit (homosexuals) and the congragation left and started a new church where sin didn't run the pulpit.

**The church started going astray right after Christs' death.**

In other words, the Holy Spirit did NOT lead the Church into all truth after all, and the gates of hell DID prevail against the church, despite Christ's promises.

If the Holy Spirit didn't keep the church from error, as you are saying, how do you know the present NT canon isn't errorneous, either?
---Jack on 8/14/06

(Part 2) That said, it's a shame that we all can't unite as one in Christ. We would be used by God so much more if we could look past our petty ways, and love one another.
---Katie on 8/14/06

I think it depends on how you look at it. If someone leaves a church out of bitterness and anger, and starts their own, that is discord in the body, therefore it's not right. If someone has been called by God to start up a church, who can dispute that? Some have gone where others refuse to go, and it's a need in the community (ie-the crime-infested neighborhoods).

Of course it's true. The church started going astray right after Christs' death. With all these denominations claiming to be correct or true, means there is a lot of wrong and untrue out there. How can everyone be right? They all have their own church doctrines and their own interpretation of the bible. Does a partial truth make it all true--does a partial untruth make it all a lie???
