There is a difference between one man who preaches because he wants to be able to say "I preached" and another man who preaches the Gospel because he actually wants to lead the other person into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and it will bother him if he is not successful at leading that other person to Christ.

Mr 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the ELEVEN...
Mr 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which WAS preached to every creature which is under heaven, ...

Ro 10:18 But I say, Have they not heard ? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

The Great Commission is to go and make "Disciples" which is different from "go and preach". Many people just "put in their two cents" with "soundbite preaching" with no regard to how effective it is. We are not here to brow beat people into submission where they "give in" and say "ok, ok, I believe" and then we move on with a smile on our face and they walk away rolling their eyes, still in disbelief. There is a life and death difference.

This is the Great Commission:
Mark 16:15, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and PREACH the gospel to every creature."

I agree with the above statement. I do not agree that the great commission is to make friends,go slow, little lifestyle before them and on and on and on----

The great commission is Jesus' command to born-again Christians to "go, preach the gospel". That is Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Thanks Helen. "Helps Who Helps Themselves" Found in The number "1" blog group of 9 sections. Right column about 16 down. See you there.

Jhonny - I am having trouble finding "God helps those who helps themselves" Blog. Do you remember what your question was? Thanks and bless you.
---Helen_5378 on 8/19/06

Good questions Augusta. "I say there has to be a way...so we can worship in truth.." Give us the answers please. You're on to something re: truth.
Isa 42:3 "A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth." Mt 22:16,"...we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
Men respectors = idolatry.

Jhonny writes; "Question then is, what observance? to what commands? Has anyone told you to observe something Christ commanded? Does anyone know Christ even gave commandments?"

That's the question alright, jhonny. The even bigger question is *how* do we know?

I say there has to be a way to know these things without any doubt so we can worship in truth as Christ prayed.

Thanks for the reference Augusta.(mt28:18-20)
Joh 6:29 "Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent."
How do we believe in him whom he sent?
"...teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you,.."
Question then is, what observance? to what commands? Has anyone told you to observe something Christ commanded? Does anyone know Christ even gave commandments?

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen."

Matt 28:18-20

I think it would be important to read the verses (Mat.28:16-20)for one's self. It appears to me that Jesus was talking to a specific group. He didn't say that all christians should put on a crusade. Do we read in too much sometimes in the name of "helping" God. Jesus also told Judas to do what he must do... Does that mean we should all do what Judas did?

Helen, please acknowledge help who help themselves. Thanks
More - work of God.
Ephesians 4:11-12 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints,.."
Who are saints? Those with characteristics of God, - applied to those as separated for God's service. Those who choose to be Holy (pure, clean, unstained)

The term "Great commission" is not found in the bible. The word commission is used once only, and in a negative context. Nevertheless what is important pertaining to that idea is this. Joh 6:29 "Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." You are the work of God. What's going on in your midst is the work of God.
