Boycott Desperate Housewives
Should we boycott Yum Brands (owners of Pizza Hut, Long John Silver's, Taco Bell, and KFC), or any company for that matter, for advertising on shows like Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, The Family Guy and The War At Home?

I don't believe so. What purpose does that serve, and where is it in Scripture. We can get a little carried away as Christians. It is up to each individual.

Whats wrong with Desperate Housewives???
---pkay on 4/13/07|
Hi Chris, There is little button, usually on the bottom right side of your TV, that you can push and just like magic POOF! the TV turns off! Better still...there's a bigger knob, usually on top of that one and you can turn it around & around until you find something better to watch!-or- forget the buttons altogether: Do you have a REMOTE?I call it the "button box".I'm sorry for being sarcastic but YOU have control to what YOU watch.Isn't that nice?!

I agree that we can get carried away. Should I not watch a late-night show that advertsises liquor because I'm an alcoholic? Or not buy from my grocery store that sells alcohol? If nothing else, I can always change the channel :)

I have watched desperate housewives. As a matter of fact I don't watch tv except weather channel or history channel. I rarely eat at fast food places so I guess I am in good shape. LoL

Oh man. I miss fast food...haven't had it in two months! Someone do me a favor and have a Taco Salad on my account (from Taco Bell), and a Double Decker taco with nacho cheese, and a Crunch Wrap! Okay, I need to get ahold of myself. There are better things in life, like energy and a loose belt. :o) God bless!

I know some folks in a program that say nothing is wrong with them and they hope you are one too. They want your number and address will you give it to them?

Oh dear I think its just horribly sad that NBarb has never gone to Taco Bell. Oh you really must, I have never had the pizza thing Rebecca D talked about, but a taco supreme is near perfect. :)

Barbara, if you can you really need to go to these places to eat. KFC has wonderful chicken and the mashed potatoes just melt in your mouth. Long John Silvers, they have great chicken as well but deep fried. Taco Bell, I recommend you try the Mexican Pizza. it is so good, I'm getting hungrey.

My view is that if we boycott one place, we might as well boycott everything. Every company that isn't Christian based is going to sponser and support something we don't agree with. I think boycotting is a waist of time.

Thats what is so great about our country. We can turn the channel if we dont like it. We can boycott something if we feel like it. Remember how many soldiers have died so we can have this right. Do what you want, I just simply not look at something I dont like.

If something is unacceptable, I just turn the channel, period. --Mrs. Morgan

pkay, I can't tell you what is exactly wrong with DH because I've never watched it, however the commercials are enough to let me know its trashy.
I'm okay with the sponsers EXCEPT for Pizza Hut! I can't give up my pan pizza now and then! I have never been to the other places mentioned.

Why? Would you buy Kraft cheese if the Hilton twins advertised it? I like eating at these places. Unless they have a knock out drag out fight and turning into bars, I'll not eat there. But there is nothing wrong with it. If you don't like it, don't eat there. Simple as that. By you not eating there, it won't hurt their business.
---Rebecca_D on 8/16/06|
I don't eat at those places anyway, so what difference would it make?
Just don't watch those shows and let them die a slow death.

Boycotts tend to hurt the minimum wage workers at the bottom of the corporate pyramid; either their wages or cut or they get fired. Those at the top who make the objectionable decisions are left untouched.

I tend to avoid anything that is advertised on TV.
