Is God All About Me

Today the sermon was about Psalm 23. Verse 3 says "he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake." The preacher emphasized that God's children are always say "What about me?" That verse points out it is not about me. Any thoughts?

what about me.been a believer a longgggg time and what I have noticed is soooooo many people asking and praying for the same things, the wrong things, the ME things, most of their lives over and over and over and over, and never getting any resolution. why?some don,t give it to God, some won,t or don,t know thw word, some won,t or don,t see or hear revelation, and many more are so concerned with the flesh they never will.

We love you Madison! Have you ever seen Joyce Meyer do the robot thingy? "What about me?" "What about me?" "What about me?" God showed her that's what she used to look like to him. Isn't it awesome to worship Father and know you are touching His heart? And knowing how much He loves us and We love Him? Madison (((huggs sister)))))!!!! Luv ya!

So much is taught today about how to GET from God. This is what the FLESH clamors to know. Whose preaching draws huge national audiances? It's the "prosperity" and "name it and claim it" preachers, the "self help" and "self-esteem" teachers.
Once we yield our lives to Jesus, we realize He has ALREADY done more for us than we deserve. We are NOT our own. Our sin makes us miserable and our deepest disire is to please HIM. We cannot praise or thank HIM enough.

Donna and Debbie, thanks for your encouragement along these lines. I love hearing how other people put the focus on Him and not on us.
When Jesus was in the Garden, praying right before His crucifixion, He prayed "Thy will, not mine, be done." He was facing a horrible death at that point, and He did the Father's will.

Jesus said to pray this way, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. THY Kingdom come, not MY Kingdom come.
Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God. Most are seeking their own desires and their own ways and wants and what they think they need, a husband, money, etc.,
God put us here to have fellowship with Him, to win the lost, to do HIS will, but "the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it."

God loves His children and we are highly favored; but we are not to focus on what He can and will do for us. We should not even focus on all that we can do for Him. It is human nature to get puffed up over our own Godly devotion. It is not the least bit about you and me, it is about Him. The only good thing about us is Jesus in us. Without Him, we aren't even worth talking about. Our old man would be very quick to disagree, but it is the truth. He should increase and we should decrease.

WHAT? you mean its NOT all about ME? (lol) Someone told me once that the true joy is in putting Jesus first Others second and Yourself last.

Bruce: The word limit on the question made it difficult to compose the question. Sorry.
As I read a lot of the questions and problems on the blogs, I see a lot of "ME" oriented questions. "I don't go to church because I don't get anything from it." "My husband isn't paying attention to me." Yada yada.
How did we get so "Me centered" at believers? How do we change it? Scriptures are about suffering for the sake of the cross.

Madison,
I don't understand the question.

its all about Gods love. God loves the world and has made a plan to save it.meaning the people. fathoming this is very difficult when you take into consideration mans nature to rebell against God.Only Gods love, his nature, his spirit, could love us to a point soooooo far beyond my understanding.NO its not about you at all, seems like its really all for you,you just have to make a heartfelt choice, and then live that choice to follow jesus in all your thoughts and decisions.
