God Forgive At The Cross

When at the cross Jesus said," Father forgive them for they know not what they do". Do you believe that the father forgave those men? Or will they stand judgement for their actions. Your answer will perhaps define what type of God you believe in?

Without the shedding of blood, there is NO forgiveness of sin. Repent means to turn to Jesus Christ for your forgiveness. There is no other way. Go to the Cross. Jesus is your ONLY hope and glory.
---duane on 5/21/08

You have to repent to be forgiven. Anyone who doesn't repent cannot be forgiven and will stand in judgement for their actions. HOWEVER, when Christ died and the sky was dark and the earth shook, those men said "Truly this was the son of God"...I believe they did repent and were forgiven and became Christians. Go rent that movie "The Robe"...it's really good.

Linda: "This is about Christ and His work."
Amen to that!
---Christina on 5/20/08

.linda, Godly discernment is judging rightly, and dividing the godly from the ungodly, and not wrongly judging the righteous with the wicked as you have done. The hateful Jews told the Romans to Kill Innocent Christ, and the Romans Brutally Killed him. The disciples on the otherhand forbade Jesus from being crucified, and begged him not to go, and they are NOT the ones reponsible for killing their Savior whom they loved.
---Eloy on 5/13/08

.linda, there is no "perhaps" in my preaching, as you wrongly misjudge, but only double-edged truth which conquers every enemy of the cross. You have accepted Satan's lie that all people are evil, rather than God's Truth that there are the holy and the condemned, and God's Truth that the evil will be separated from the righteous: the bad will thrown into everlasting punishment in hell fire, but the righteous into life eternal.

frances008_I have More truth in my little finger than you have in your whole body.
I'm confident with the Foundation I've Built upon over the last 35 yrs.
Like i said You have NO idea who God "Has OR Hasn't" Saved OR who might be Saved in the Future!
History shows that at least 1 of them came to be a Christian and Was crucified for the Name of Jesus.
Who are you to deny Him salvation?
I wonder if you would go to your Death in such a manner for Jesus?
---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 5/13/08

ALL::HE is,our God of LOVE.He came in obedience to conquer sin by Love. The wicked world crucified their own God who was giving them salvation. He pleads "Father Forgive them they know not what they do"His words reverberate with the same resounding boom and He is ready to forgive. All you do is show SORROW Turn back to Him, His arms outstretched "come to me ALL who are laboured and burdened I will refresh you"Its all there, in His word, in his church, in his love, in Matt16:17-19

True discernment is spiritual, not earthy. This isn't about Roman soldiers or Jews or disciples. This is about Christ and His work. Jesus became the sin we were and the curse resulting from sin. The cross was the expression of God's love for man and His hatred for sin. That left out no man and no sin.
---Linda on 5/13/08

Christ crucified deals with sin, the curse, and the wrath of God against it all. Christ raised from the dead gives life. It is the shedding of blood that brings remission and any man who hears the gospel and believes is saved.
---Linda on 5/13/08

The bottom line is that is was not people who put Him to death. It was the wages of sin which, by reason of Adam, had to be paid by a man without sin. As far as those disciples...they all forsook Him. That had to take place. He had to be forsaken by His friends and by His Father. He stood alone as the spotless Lamb. I know the message of grace may be a little hard to swallow, but only for those who go about seeking to establish their own righteousness.
---Linda on 5/13/08

Eloy, perhaps you need some discernment...or maybe just need to read your Bible. Hell was not prepared for man. It was prepared for the devil and his angels. God invites man, through Jesus Christ, to come and dine. And how do you think God's plan could have been manifested in the fullness of time if those Romans hadn't fulfilled Scripture. It was still sin that put Him there...our sin.
---Linda on 5/13/08

Linda, you need to use discernment, the disciples loved Christ (except for that son of perdition) and they are not the ones whom put him to death. Christ's sacrifice is ONLY for those whom accept him. Those whom reject Christ, and condemn him on the tree, he also rejects in front of the Father and the holy angels. Most do not accept Christ, but instead his enemies who slew him on the cross mocked him, and for these Christ has prepared a everlasting firey hell, and not any part of his kingdom.
---Eloy on 5/12/08

Whom was Christ speaking of when he prayed for "them", who know not what they do? Christ prays, "I pray for them: I pray Not for the world, but for them which you have given me, for they are yours. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God lives forever." John 17:9+ I John 2:16,17.
---Eloy on 5/12/08

In order to be forgiven you must believe in Him that sent Him and that the one who was sent is the Son of God. And this belief takes salvation through Jesus' blood. These wicked men did not believe, so they were damned.>>>Forty years later God's judgment came down on Jerusalem the worse disaster before and since against a town. God's vengeance for His Son's death. And all this time God watched these evil, wicked, sickening, vile, men, eat, drink, and joked about what they did to His Son.

Read 2 Thessalonians 2. God allows those who prefer the lies of the devil to be deceived. Does that sound like God loves everyone? Maybe God does love everyone, but everyone does not love God, and they condemn themselves. God will not be mocked. People are going to be deceived, why? because, as Catherine says they are too stupid...and they deserve to be deceived.
---frances008 on 5/11/08

DDM, you have no truth in you. Jesus has already picked out those whom he has saved and the only possiblity is that those people will lose their salvation, and that is why I warn people not to share the sins of the world, but to open their eyes to what the devil does which is primarily to DECEIVE people. The deception will make them do things they should not do, and also will make them think they are safe. This is widely propagated in New Age Teachings.

If one person sits in front of the television and is spoonfed information, if three million people sit and tap into a Madonna youtube, if 6,000 tap into a New World Order Exposing youtube, DMM, who do you think is closest to the truth?

The line between correctness and error is very thin, as is the line between finding the truth and finding the lies. I am completely forgiving of those who are incapable of accessing the truth.
---frances008 on 5/10/08

I judge those who know the truth and deliberately disinform, discredit truth tellers, and go so far as to call me a slanderer for speaking the truth. You alone are the slanderer. I never said any untruth about you or anyone else.
---frances008 on 5/10/08

I would hate to burst anyone's sanctified bubble (or maybe not), but it was our sin that put Jesus on that cross and His love for us that held Him there. Because of God's predetermined plan that the Lamb would be crucified, some Roman had to be used. On a harsher note, there was just as much hatred for Him from His very own as there was from those who were not. The forgiveness offered at the cross was offered to all men, even those who were used as instruments of His destruction.
---Linda on 5/9/08

Any of those Romans who believed on Jesus when He was raised entered into the benefits of that belief, even if those who believed were actually those who were used to torture Him. Catherine, sometimes I wonder if you really understand identification and substitution. If you did, you certainly wouldn't be damning to hell those who physically put Jesus on the cross but later believed. Paul did write quite a lengthy letter to the Romans who entered into Christ by faith.

Yes, they were forgiven for their actions but they had to accept Jesus Christ individually at some later point in order to be saved and inherit the Kingdom(heaven). Some were probably saved through the efforts of the apostles and others may have been saved when the earth quaked. Many never knew salvation and are hell bound.

Every single person who was involved in God's Son's death is right now in hell. Right where they deserve to be. If you have studied on what Jesus went through by the hands of those evil, wicked, men, in power, you might understand. These evil men were allowed to do just about what they wanted to do. Plus they hated Jesus. Noone is going to heaven with hatred in their heart. Come on! Some believes it was a prayer of "allow them Father to cricify me". And Not a forgiven prayer.

I believe God did forgive them, because they didn't know that Jesus was the Son of God until the man stuck a spear in Jesus' side. They (some) realized that he was truely the Son of God.
---Rebecca_D on 5/8/08

NO, God did not forgive those impiety men for killing His only Son. I always like to say, "Father forgive them for they are stupid." Well, when people don't know what they are doing, that spells STUPID.
---catherine on 5/23/07

While we were STILL sinners and enemies of God, HE forgave us.
We never had to ask, to be reconciled to God. HE just did it through Christ.
We ARE forgiven...
---duane on 5/23/07

God did forgive them but the question is..Did they accept forgiveness? I doubt that very much. God forgives us of our sins but we must ask him first. I do believe they will stand judgement for their actions. Had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory.

Jesus took the sin of the world upon Himself at the cross. Yes, God forgave them and forgave every other sin, but unless the gift of that forgiveness is recieved, there is only judgement and condemnation in store

(2).. God had anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, to do what Gods hand, and counsel had determined, to be done. Believe it or not, but God caused these men to crucify Jesus.

If God does work his will in both his elect and the children of disobedience, I know that they are forgiven, and they will repent. All will be saved!
---Billy on 8/25/06

Lets not forget that God had orcastrated this to be done before the foundation of the world.

Pro.16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Act 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
Act 4:28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
---Billy on 8/25/06

Jesus was God in the flesh. And the sovereignty of God can override any other circumstance. Some people believe in a God of Mercy. Other people believe in a stern God of punishment. The choice of course is to each individual.

When Jesus said from the Cross "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do", Jesus was forgiving them Himself and interceding for them. "They know not what they do" speaks of the effect of sin, that when we are lost in sin we in fact 'do not know what we do'. Jesus' prayer for these men did not get answered until the Book of Acts Chapter 2 when Peter preached to them and they repented. There is no salvation without repentance. The men were "cut to their hearts".

greetings, for mima, the unimaginable act of a mob killing an innocent person by torture after taken to court and found legally innocent by authority is a crime.jewry was led by those in religious authority who claimed moses they knew but jesus they did not.the real sin was the fear of being locked out of the temple from the temple priests for believing in jesus.the mercy from jesus is beyond human terms.jesus stated if we forgive others we shall be forgiven.he lived up to his words
