Do Prophets Still Exist

In the book of Amos 3:8 we read Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. That being the case is it only logical to believe that prophets would always have to be upon the earth to receive those secrets?

Sammy, yes this is logical to believe that God would disclose his words to prophets and send them to the people. Part of this prophesying is called "evangelism".
---Eloy on 4/10/12

yes! But there are also those who are prophetic, not full fledged prophet. Being prophetic, you may get a dream or vision from God, but doesn't mean you are a prophet. Sometimes watchmen get lots of prophetic, but doesnt mean they are full prophet. God can give anyone of us something prophetic if we have the Holy Spirit

\\strongax, perhaps you not only need Jesus,\\

All can witness that youm are not Christianed yet, and youm need Jesus, Eloy.

As well as a dictionary.

Eloy:

I always say "You said:", then quote what you (or another person) actually said in italics, or underlined. Then, afterwards, I add my own intepretation. There is no ambiguity about my adding words to what somebody said. What they said, and what I think about it, are clearly separate.

Please show one incident where I attributed something to you that you didn't actually say (i.e. quote the words, and the date I posted them).
---StrongAxe on 4/10/12

strongax, perhaps you not only need Jesus, but also eye glasses? for you indeed corrupt my postings by adding your own words to my words, which all can clearly witness your postings here, and now you also are denying this fact that that is what you do, when the readers are able to all clearly see the evidence here to the contrary.
---Eloy on 4/10/12

Eloy:

I dod not corrupt your words. I just quoted them tried to deduce what they could mean.

"those days will be shortened" does not explain "the Lord is coming back before he planned", because nowhere does the Bible say God planned for those days to last until all life was extinguished, but ONLY LATER decided to come back earlier. He always planned to come back earlier.

If I see someone being beaten, I will try to intervene BEFORE they are killed. This is not because I planned for them to be killed, but ONLY LATER changed my mind. I plan from the beginning to intervene before the end.

God always planned to stop the tribulation before all life was extinguished. He never changed his mind about this.
---StrongAxe on 4/10/12

Since the General Resurrection comes simultaneously when the Lord Jesus returns at the end of the Tribulation to gather His people, living and dead, as I Thess says, death is just temporary.

\\Stop continually corrupting the Word I preach\\

Eloy, NOBODY has to corrupt the word youm preach. You do it quite well by yourmself with nobody's help.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 4/10/12

Gordon, if you believe in prophets today, then tell me, what do they do? What is their purpose? And if they have some new revelation how do they authenticate what they say is coming from God? You tell me how, and I will more than ever look into that. Are you a prophet? We do know that prophets were in the Apostolic Age, but they are written in Scripture. You know the pope could be called a prophet, as they believe he gets new revelations from God and what he says does not have to be authenticate, because they believe him by tradition. Is he also a prophet?
---Mark_V. on 4/10/12

Strongax, Re-read my posting without adding your own words. If you still feel opposition to corrupt my words, then Re-read my posting again. And if you still feel opposition, then Re-read my posting again. And if you still feel opposition, then Re-read my posting again. And continue to Re-read my posting again, however many times you need to, until there is no more sin in you to add your own words to my words in order to twist and corrupt the plain truth that I post.
---Eloy on 4/10/12

Eloy:

You said: the Lord is coming back before he planned.

This is exactly what you said. I want to know what you meant. If he is coming back before he planned, he must have planned to come back at one time, and at some later time, changed his mind to come back at a different, earlier time. This is simple logic even a 5 year old can understand.

Why would a God who knows all things and can see the future, make a plan thousands of years in advance, then suddenly change his mind?

You said: those days will be shortened. This means he will come early enough so that not all would die, but it does NOT mean he initially PLANNED to wait until all would die.
---StrongAxe on 4/9/12

Strongax, Stop continually corrupting the Word I preach with your own added words to make your own falsehood. If the Lord did not intervene before the full desolation, then there would no remnant be saved. "For I Yhwh, I change not: therefore all you sons of Jacob are not consumed. And accept those days should be shortened, there would no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened." Mal.3:6+ Mt.24:22.
---Eloy on 4/9/12

Eloy:

You missed my point. When you said the Lord is coming back before he planned, this must mean hs is changing his plan.

Why would he make a plan several thousand years in advance, and then suddenly have to change it? Did he not forsee all the evil that is happening? That can't be it, because various prophecies clearly point it out. So why did hs change his plan? Inquiring minds want to know!

Mark_V.:

Just because one person isn't a prophet, that doesn't necessarily mean nobody else is. The existence of carnival charlatans and religious TV hucksters is no proof that the genuine articles don't exist. It's more evidence that they DO. Many people counterfeit $20 bills. Nobody conterfeits $30s.
---StrongAxe on 4/9/12

MarkV, The Scriptures say that GOD has ordained Prophets IN THE CHURCH. The Christians who are ignoring this are truly being foolish. GOD has Warnings to give to America today, Mark, through HIS modern Prophets. GOD has Messages and Warnings to give to specific Churches, people, persons, leaders, Pastors, etc. that ARE NOT RECORDED in the Canonical Scriptures because THEY ARE SPECIFIC MESSAGES ONLY FOR SPECIFIC PERSONS. Your BLINDEDNESS to GOD's Warnings through HIS modern Prophets will cost you in some way. YOU, Mark, are ignoring and disbelieving HIS Word in EPHESIANS 4:11-12 and in I CORINTHIANS 14. YOU are telling others to be just as FOOLISH.
---Gordon on 4/9/12

I believe God when he says in his word that prophets are still here and do exist.
I had one speak to me back in 2008.
This man did not know me or anything any my life. he called me out and told me that a storm was getting ready to rage in my life. Told me to stand still and obey God and God would see me through (short version of what he said). That storm was my family. My mom got dementia and is a home, my dad died, I lost my job 3 times, my daughter rebelled and had to be sent away. I stood through it and God brough me out of it. Praise GOD for his prophets to warn and uplift!
---ginger on 4/9/12

Gordon, hello again. I know you repeated the same passages and people are still asking, but you forget they have reasons for asking. All through Scripture there was prophets, but what they said was fulfilled and written in Scripture. What any prophet says now, can never be authenticate that what he says comes from God. Any lunatic can tell you God told him something and can never proof it came from God. And let me tell you there is many lunatics. I have heard a few here on line. Everyone's says the Holy Spirit tells them something, which is different then what He tells another. If you are a prophet, can you proof what you say came from God? I don't think so.
---Mark_V. on 4/9/12

Eloy, don't you realize that you contradict the word of God? And reduce the divine power of God to that of a man? God never makes mistakes Eloy. He is perfect. You are proof there is no prophets, for you say you are one. The plan God made is complete before Him before there was even time as we call it. Just as He tolded us, it will happen. Any person who thinks that God made a mistake because He later found out that things didn't go His way, is but a fool who doesn't even know God.

strongax, No. I mean exactly what I posted.

Strongax, Yes, there is a day established for Christ Almighty's return. And in the last days the increase of sin and destruction becomes worldwide to such an extent like in Noah's day (Gen.6:5-7) and in Sodom and Amorah's day (Gen.18:20+ 19:13) that the Lord must return, else no flesh at all would be saved: but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened. For unless the Savior had shortened those days, then we would have become another empty planet circuiting in space which has been devoid of life.
---Eloy on 4/8/12

Eloy:

You said: the Lord is coming back before he planned

Do you mean to tell us that the Lord set a date for his return, but unforseen events caused him to change his mind? Or that he made a mistake in making his plans in the first place?
---StrongAxe on 4/8/12

SarahM, You asked me about my gifts, and I told you what they are. And that the church needs to purge out the unholy bibles, and restore the Holy Bible back into the church. Now you ask me about future prophecies and about the second coming. Sarah, the Lord is coming back before he planned. And since you do not know whether or not you will be able to draw your next breath, or whether or not your heart will continue to beat, therefore you daily need to be ready for the Lords appearing always and at all times, and not be concerned about when the second coming will happen.

Sarah M, If GOD did not have new revelations to reveal today, HE would not need Prophets as HE does as recorded in EPHESIANS 4:11-12 and I CORINTHIANS 14. If I have to keep repeating these same two Scripture Verses over and over and over and over again, I will. Until someone pays attention to what the Written Word of GOD is trying to tell some of HIS people who are not believing it.
---Gordon on 4/8/12

Eloy:

1 Corinthians 14:27-29
"If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course, and let one interpret.
But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church, and let him speak to himself, and to God.
Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge."

You said: Yes, "Meeco son meeca. lehoma leca": I prophesy that what the Lord says.

What does that mean? If it is speaking in tongues, where is the interpretation? Without it, you should remain silent, as Paul said. And if you prophesy, it is our duty to judge that prophecy, again as Paul said.
---StrongAxe on 4/7/12

Sammy, Yes, until the rapturing up of the saints, we will prophesy in the Spirit.
---Eloy on 4/7/12

\\Yes, "Meeco son meeca. lehoma leca": I prophesy that what the Lord says.\\

But the "lord" by which youm prophecy is NOT Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Eloy.

Youm are a sinuous false prophet.

---Cluny on 4/7/12

Sammy, YES. Prophets still exist on Earth, since the LORD always has more things to reveal. And holy, modern Prophets of GOD do exist today. They were set up within the Church, since the beginning of the Church, and for as long as the Church exists on Earth. See EPHESIANS 4:11-12 and I CORINTHIANS 14. Contrary to what some in the Church are teaching, GOD has NOT revealed "everything there is to know" in the Canonical Scriptures. He told the prophet Daniel to SEAL UP the Visions he was given until the Time of the End (which is TODAY!) So, that tells us that GOD hid revelations from being recorded in the Scriptures, which will be revealed in the Last Days.

John.usa, William Whittingham with his colleagues translated the 1st complete Bible from the Hebrew and Greek into English in 1560 A.D in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1560 A.D. William Whittingham, along with his colleagues, produced the highly esteemed Bible at Geneva, a complete Bible, translated according to the Hebrew and Greek, and conferred with the best translations in divers languages, and dedicated to Queen Elizabeth I. It was this Geneva Bible, the "Thanksgiving Bible" which the pilgrims brought to America upon the Mayflower and settled in the English colonies of Massachusettes and the east coast, and on this- Thee Bible- in which the Bible knowledge of the Puritans was built up during the Civil War.
---Eloy on 4/7/12

Eloy is right. But perhaps we should go further and only use the Greek and Hebrew scriptures. Then we would no longer have to worry that the Word was mistranslated.
---John.usa on 4/6/12

Sarah, Yes, no problem. The Spirit communicates to me through intuition, glossolalia and interpretations, and visions and dreams. Sometimes we prophets are called sensitives because we are sensitive to the things which are normally not seen by nonsensitive people. We can cross over all time periods. The church seriously needs to get rid of all the so-called new bibles in the church, immediately, and restore either the 1560 Geneva Bible- Excluding the apocrypha, or else restore the King James Version Bible back inside of the church, and read and preach only from this Holy Bible. For by replacing the Word of God with man's word has diluted the church from within, and thus today we have the great apostacy or the great falling away from the truth.
---Eloy on 4/6/12

Eloy, I have a very delicate question for you since you are a prophet. In our church we have a prophet also. He has the ability to see visions of the future. Which ability do you have? Can you see the future for the church? Is there such a man who can see the future? What do you see that is not written?

And some of us are given glossalalia, and some to interpretations: and some of us are given both God's utterance and the interpretation to minister.

---yohannes_estonia on 2/4/12

Steven, your wrong again. Just alot of smoke. Many denominations have prophets. So that is not true at all. Anyone can proclaim to be a prophet, but cannot proof what they say is coming from God unless it's already in His Word. The prophets to come are not here yet.
"Prophet", like the priest, the prophet represented God to the people and constituted a characteristic feature of early Hebrew society. Believers are warned about the constant threat of the false prophets and pagan counterpart. Constant vigilance has to be excecised against the incurasion of false religion and demon-energized paganism with the threat of occult supernaturalism. You advice others to look up words on the computer why don't you do that before answering?

For those who believe that prophets do not exist today...

will be the ones who will rejoice, celebrate, and send gifts one to another over the death of the last two prophets as spoken of by John, because these two prophets tormented them that dwell on the earth and do not conform to the doctrines of today's denominational christians.

Also, prophets do indeed exist today not only to fortell that something is about to happen, but to edify the the members of the true church of Christ. They are never accepted into denominational churches because they will not conform to their worldly doctrines, rituals, traditions, ways of living, and interpretations of scripture.

There is many who profess to be prophets today, but none have any new revelation. What these prophets speak is already in Scripture, if it is not, they are false prophets. No one has any new secrets (revelation). All that anyone needs is written already. All genuine believers speak on behalf of God, so you could call everyone a prophet. The prophets from scripture brought new revelation that had not been written yet that God wanted to to convey to His people and it became truth in Scripture.

To all of my bro and sisters in christ.
First there is no divison in God,if we when reading the word has different in understanding, one of us is wrong, perhaps both of us,the word is never wrong.

Ther must be only one way that God define who a prophet is,and his fuction.

One fuction that I came up with is revelation.
Revelation is defined thus, something that is revealed by God to man, make known.
To those self proclam prophets, what has God revealed toyou that never written.

Nooooooo Prophets to day.
No secrets as for as God's plane concering the human family,if it be hid it's because the prince of this world have blinded there eyes so they could not see.

Every thing that God has to say to man is in his written word.

Man can prophesy,on the word of God thats already written.

I do not believe we have Prophets today as was in the Old Testament.Prophets in the O.T. were the mouthpiece of God and that is how he comunicated with Israel. The Spirit moved on the Porphets from time to time, but did not indwell them.Today, when one comes to Christ through a Born-Again experience, the Spirit of God indwells them and leads and guides the believer in all truths. And it will continue to until one leaves this world. Each believer has access to the Throne and God through and by his Spirit.

Prophets of today aren't like those of the Old Testament, They prophesied to a nation.
they're what I call "mission critical prophets" and the ones we have today operate on a smaller scale within the church.
I know a man so full of mercy and compassion that God reveals sins of others to him with the shake of a hand or some other small interaction.
He is trusted with this because he is so like Jesus, there's no boasting or throwing his weight around; a real sweetheart.

The secrets of the Lord are for those who fear Him. They're not just for the prophets. In the New Testament, Jesus said, When the Holy Spirit comes, He will tell you of things to come. Pray and stay close to Jesus, fellowhsip with Him because He is your best friend and He will surely reveal secrets to you. A prophet is one who proclaims God's word. We all are prophets in some degree.
