Why is it so important for people to know? The bible tells us to let our light shine. That is doing good deeds, showing loving to others, keeping peace follow his precepts and commands and the world will know. They will know something is different about you.A time will come when somoeone will ask you why you do the things you do and you can let them know,if you choose. Its not mandatory. |

I prefer to keep fairly low profile (no cross jewelry, no fish bumper sticker, etc.). If people can't tell that I'm a Christian by watching me live, perhaps I don't deserve the title.
And the LAST thing I want anyone to do is to be one of those "obvious" Christians whose lives offend - so others justly say "if THAT's what being a Chrisitan is, I want no part of it!" |

The Holy Spirit testifies and gives witness that you are Children of God.
One must first believe, confess and repent of one's sins and receive the gift of Salvation through Christ.
There will be an outward expression of an inward change. You cannot be saved without being "transformed" into the Image of Christ day by day. It is the Holy Spirit's work in you that brings about that change. |

Islam are growing fast in the so-called "Christian" countries. Changing religion does not mean that they have to change everything. Most of them prefer to keep their names. You will never know if that person is no longer a christian!
You can tell if the women choose to wear the head-cover but not the men. They can be your work friends, neighbors. Who knows! |

Jesus said that people will know you by your fruits. If you display the Fruits of the Spirit, then people will know that you follow Christ. |

If you are a Christian you should be speaking to everyone in the spirit, with the love, joy and peace of Christ in your heart. And if you are allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you, he will reveal it to you; if it needs to be known. For someone else to know that you are a Christian, they would first have to know Christ. |

A great question. One thing for sure - it won't be by my righteousness, who I associate with, what I eat, etc. It will be by my love for them. We are commanded to love God, our family, our neighbors, those who hate us, our enemies, etc. As Christ loved us, totally sacrificially, laying down his life for us while we were still dead set against him. |

Christians are supposed to stand out. Deut 26:18 (peculiar- distinctive in nature or character from others). One way I would go about finding out if someone is a Christian or not is by following 1 John 4:1. 1Pe 1:2; chosen that we should be holy, Eph 1:4; purified a peculiar people, that we might not only do good works, but be zealous in them, Tit 2:14. Holiness is true honor, and the only way to everlasting honor. |

When your conversations to them are about God. When God comes into your words as you speak without realizing it. They will know right away what your priorities are. If you feel you will offend someone, then you are not speaking for God but for yourself. God will automaticly come out of your mouth in some way. That is how they will you are a Christian. I heard one time Eloy say the lost were dogs, They are not dogs, but lost people without Christ. They need the Lord. Everyone needs the Lord. |

Safe to avoid unbelievers, if even possible. Jesus went out among them, tax collectors, unclean, rich, poor, entire world. Most unbelievers can't tell the difference between Christian/non-Christian; unless you're wearing collar or preaching on street corner. If you witness, you will encounter opposition. World will not embrace your childlike stance, love, kisses, fish symbol on car bumper. It's the Holy Spirit that does the drawing, remember, it's not you with all of your Christian attributes who saves. |

By what I talk about. Actions are important too. A couple of months ago, a lady and I got talking on the Bus. Cigarettes came up and I started telling her how I was now totally free from them. She said "Are you a Christian?" I then told her how the Lord set me free. |

alan, actually this may offend some peolle but scripture tells us not to have personal relationships with non believers. no we are to go into the world and win the lost and help them to come to christ. so this is a fine line to walk as a christian. if someone is genuinely interested in the word we should have counsel with them to win them to jesus. But to answer your question ,by your lifestyle, your attitude, and actually you should come right and and tell them,at some point. especially if you know them. |

It is God alone Who knows who is the true believer/Christian. Observing a believer's life should reveal the fruit of the Holy Spirit, but a believer has a commandment to tell others of their own conversion & witness to them of their need of Christ as Saviour. A Christian is glad to share the Good News. It seems often the testimony of others who know a person will often tell me that "so & so" is a Christian. In asking, they can give account of their testimony & the lifestyle of the person. |

You will know them by their fruits. Non-Christians will notice that you are set apart from the others in the way you handle things, the words you speak, the actions of love you perform. They may not recognize it as the "fruits of the Spirit" but they will recognize it to be different from the rest. |

Tbaba, thanks ,you added some good ones. Love unveiled brings the fruits into view. If only Christians would remember at all times to immerse themselves in God's love until it is all people see reflected in their lives. Them loving God and their fellow humans. |

Great answer Darlene 1,
I would like to add the following verses...
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Matthew 7:20)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13:35) |

---Tbabe on 8/30/06 |
1John 4:7&8 Beloved let us love one another:for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God,and knoweth God;he that loveth not knoweth not God;for God is love. Love is the measure of a Christian,it directs all their behavior, guides all their words. |

A person could live a good life and not be a Christian. But you could know that they are by certain things they say, or do. Even then I think I'd be hard to tell unless you asked them. |
