Always end the prayer with, "God's will be done". It is best to ask for spiritual blessings than temporal blessings. "Seek first the Kingdom of God". I am sure you know the rest of the scripture. It's in the word of God. Check it out.

There is no prayer to receive God's Blessings for us. It was taken care of at the cross. For He came to give us life, and life more abundantly. If you're not living in abundant life, stand on your faith and receive all that he has for your life in prosperity, health, peace, joy, and receive all of his Grace! Pray your prayers, and take communion with the confidence that it will be done for you, as long as it lines up with the Word, and give all of the problems of life to Him at the cross. This is his will. Receive it, it has been there for you for over 2000 years! Anything else is faithless.

The premise of this question shows some misunderstanding. We do not pray for the purpose of getting what we want from God.

Christianity is not about US, It's about HIM..not what we want from Him, but what He wants from us.

He has promised to meet our needs and pour out blessings upon us if we follow Him.
He wants us to bring our needs and desires to Him, but our main purpose in prayer should be to praise Him and seek His will.

Gods blessings are not recieved by prayer unless you are talking about the prayer of conversion which could be thought of as a means but the blessings are recieved by faith in the works of Christ you cannot buy them work for them or pray for them they are free. They are in the Holy Ghost, power, riches ,wisdom ,strength ,honor, glory, and blessings we get these because Jesus shares them with us.

Prayer that begins and ends with heartfelt praise. (Lord's prayer Matt6)

Pray the word of God. I recently quoted the words of Jesus about myself pennitantly that "unless I see signs and wonders I'll not believe," and so I asked to be preserved with God's power in my life, that the Lord would "increase my faith."

Try a vow of scilence, a day in which you only speak to God. You'll find you have alot to say and alot in times past you didn't say.

Dear heavenly Father, I pray for your forgiveness for my shortcomings and I ask that you give me wisdom for today and draw me close to you that I will purpose in my heart to walk close to you. In Jesus name, amen

I see it quite the other way. Father God has already given us all things that pertain unto life and godliness and He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly Christ. He says, "I have done it, now go use what I have done and experience life more abundantly." In the kingdom of God, what you hold onto will decrease in your life. What you release will grow. Freely you have received, freely give. Can't give away something you haven't received.

Obedience brings God's blessings. You pray and obey!
God says, "If you do this, then I'll do that for you."

Amen Pharisee and Mima. If God never did another thing but send Jesus to die for our sins, it would be enough....still better than any of us deserve! We don't even RECOGNIZE many of the blessings He's already provided!

humble yourself before God.

I agree with Pharisees answer. I believe the very best way to approach God is through praise and thanksgiving. I believe we should praise him for what he has done, for what he is doing right now, and for what he is going to do. I believe in acknowledging the sovereignty of Almighty God. I believe in praising him for his wonderful gift the Lord Jesus Christ!!

2 Corinthians 1:19-20 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

When Issac mistakenly blessed Jacob instead of Esau there was no repentence to change his error Jacob had the blessing. He came before his Father as Esau with his clothes and covered with hair which was red in his brothers name he recieved the blessing, We can boldly go before the Father in the name of Jesus sharing the clothing of righteousness and the covering of his blood

2 Samuel 6:11 And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household.
The blessing was not in what Obeddedom did but in the Fact that the Spirit of God was living in his House.
