Hi, I give thanks to the Lord and pray over my food, in these perlious days, it would be crazy not too!
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/11/08

E. coil or any other outbreak of disease have nothing to do with end-times predictions. These are things that just occur periodically.

All you need to do is avoid Spanish for a while (until the warning is lifted) and check vegetables in general prior to cooking or distribution to others.

e. coli and the end times... some people are just looking too hard for the 2nd coming. E. Coli is a natural bactria that is found in your body it aids in digestion and is found in ever type of excrment (because that is where it lives) It is also all over our money I guess our economy is bringing in the endtimes too. wash your food and wash your hands, and stop worrying so much. (besides there is more E Coli on organic foods than any other and it's supposed to be healthier.)

Just heard the news, Bolthouse Carrot Juice caused botulism for a lady because it probably wasn't cold enough. Paralysis symptoms. Ban on spinach is being removed, but news said be sure to wash. I still think diluted bleach water is better than plain. And prayer over your food.

is this blog for real? Do people really think an e-coli outbreak is a sign of the end times? The Bubonic plague killed a third of the worlds population. Was that a sign of the end times too?

Did I read this right? Feeding cows chicken poop?!? eeewwwwwwwwwww!
---sue on 9/29/06

Ecoli in food may be greed. Cows are being fed chicken manure in their food here, & the FDA allows it. More crops are imported (the FDA can't watch foreign crops), human waste, animal waste, infected fertilizers, & worse are being used to grow crops. Methods to pick & process aren't held to our health standards. So when U.S. companies import these products, double the profits & we buy them (not checking where they are from), it sets us up for diseases previously only in 3rd world countries.

That is correct, Phil. I just use a cap of bleach for a sink full of water, as standard practice to wash everything off. It will not kill E-coli from contaminated irrigation water.
---R.A. on 9/24/06

Take a multi-vitamin, better to error on the side of caution and kill bugs, than worry about vitamins on the outside skin being leached out.
---R.A. on 9/23/06

Rinsing or using bleach will have no effect in removing the E.coli in this instance. Since the plants were grown in contaminated soil. The E.coli is embedded with in the cell structure of the plant. There is nothing you can do to it to make it safely consumable. You have to avoid consumption of spinach until the government agencies identify the contamination source and lift the ban on selling it.
---Phil_the_Elder on 9/23/06

Regarding the suggestion by some of you to use bleach to clean vegetables, wouldn't this also kill the vitamins as well as the pesticides (that is if the pesticides haven't already killed the vitamins)?
---Mac on 9/23/06

What I understand about the terminator gene is that certain G.M. seeds which are being bought my the very poor nations have been modified so that the bought seeds can grow into plants but the seeds produced by those plants are incapable of reproducing. This means that no crop will come from these seeds so the poorest of the poor who keep seed for their next harvest cannot do so but must buy more seed. Immoral or what?
---Mac on 9/23/06

Get up to speed people! Our foods are highly contaminated. God created the seeds. Now men who feel that they can improve on Gods creation have spliced genes into our seeds. Even one called the terminator gene, by Monsanto. Study the facts. God does not want us ignorant.

sinful greedy meanie man and his fiddling hands has interfered with our food chain so much just so to get more money in his filthy large pocket. It has affected the whole world for that matter. Flour is no longer of the same quality it once was 20 years ago, wool, vegetables, clothing etc. All has changed and a more inferior quality. Producers are getting greedier and greedier just as the bible predicted will happen.

:) Elder, you are sooo funny! :D Loved your "conspiracy theory"! :D Made my day; God bless ya :)

The news media today make everything seem like the end of the world; even if no one dies from something! Look up facts about the flu pandemic of 1918 that killed 20-30 MILLION people world-wide; including MANY in the USA! STUDY what life was like for people back in say 1911-1918 (includes WWI), and you might learn why so many thought that was the year the world might end. All that to say we often need some historical PERSPECTIVE today.

Concerned_Eater, the problem is only temporary. If you have been following the new reports they think it may be contaminated soil and CDC, Food & Drug Administration and the Department of Agriculture will find the source correct/control the problem and people can resume eating spinach again as usual. This has totally nothing to do with "End Times."
---notlaw99 on 9/22/06

Must every story of tainted food or disaster be fit into an end-times horror jigsaw puzzle?
Even Jesus (remember Him?) said that when you hear of wars and rumors of wars--the end is NOT yet!
---Jack on 9/22/06

Yes, Mr. Alan, bleach. And rinse well, as stated. If you want to have fun, throw everything in sink of water with vinegar (at least 1/2 cup) and throw some baking soda on top. Works, too. But bleach is better. I use straight white vinegar to clean counters, oven, bathroom, etc. Won't take finish off like bleach can do. Just put it in a spray bottle and wipe. Reasonable price, too.

I think this is a nation and maybe world wide conspiracy to get Pop-Eye. It must be something between him and Olive Oil that is causing this.

I think its just the 'end time' of dirty spinach, at least lets hope so.

Sure Alan, a bit of bleach in water will remove a lot of the pesticides sprayed on veggies and any bacteria that is on the outside. Of course always rinse well in clean water after you use bleach water.
---NV_Barbara on 9/21/06

Right on R.A!--Reasonable precautions and prayer is what it takes, not food prohibitions. Chlorine bleach will kill e.coli and almost any bacteria. That's why chlorine is used in water purification. Use a very dilute solution and rinse thoroughly.

E.coli is normal in the colon (no end-time plague),so good hygiene is a must. Ground meat is more prone to contaminatation than whole, which is more easily rinsed off before cooking. Refrigeration of all fresh foods inhibits bacterial growth.
---Donna2277 on 9/21/06

No I don't think so, since E-Coli has been around for years. I got it awhile back from a fast food place. I felt like I was dying. But I survived. I believe that we are in the end times by just looking at the sin in this world. First there was cancer, DR.s have found a cure for some, but not all. Then we have AIDS. Still no cure. And it is getting worse by the hour. As sad as it may be, but I don't see a cure for these diseases, unless healed by God.
---Rebecca_D on 9/21/06

If people are panicking over spinach, what will they do when the seven bowls are poured out into the earth? We should all be praying according to 2Chronicles 7;14.

R.A. BLEACH to clean vegetables???
---Alan8869_of_UK on 9/21/06

NotLaw, how will avoiding Spanish for awhile help with the spinach problem and getting sick?
---Concerned_Eater on 9/21/06

One person dying and a few sick ones is not an end time sign. It's not a world wide plague. Any food that goes through a process is susceptible to mans careless mistakes. This is probably a one time thing that will be corrected.

Disease/illness came with the fall. West Nile, killer bees, malaria, bubonic plague, E. coli, etc. We have advanced greatly in avoiding contaminated food. Pray over your food, bible instructs us to do so. Don't obsess, just use wisdom. Wash fruits, vegetables (cap of bleach in sink of water) and carry on. Otherwise you will enter into bondage, Jesus Christ came to set you free.
---R.A. on 9/21/06

(2.) Yes, this would be one of the many end times signs. I heard things about hot dogs, but I still eat them, I believe we should pray over our food, so it is safe to eat and won't make us sick. God Bless.
