Dear Shawn M.T, I agree with your answers. We don't know why God does certain things, all we know is that it was the right thing to do. For God is always right.
He chose Adam as a representative, and at first I wondered why. Not anymore. God had a good reason for choosing him. One day we might know. God chose Israel over the other nations, that too was the right decision, since God never makes mistakes. In reality, God chose many who were terrible at what they did, for His own purpose. Agape.

God chose Moses because he was the man fit for the job. He was brought up in the palace. He knew pharoah very well. He had a walk with God. Imagine spending fourty days with God and your face glows with the glory. He saw God face to face. Aaron came in because Moses gave God an excuse for stummering.

Folks, lets stop being coy and stating that G-d will do whatever G-d chooses to do. A question was asked "Why did G-d choose the tribe of Lebi to be His priests?" It deserves an answer.

Malachi 2:4 tells us that G-d created a covenant with Levi. Verse 5 tells us the reason for the covenant is that "he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity."

In Malachi we see Levi was chosen to be the tribe of priests due to Levi's faith in G-d and his leadership of others back to G-d. Further details are found in Numbers 25.

See Exodus 32:26-29. That should answer any question...

To Whosoever has an ear to hear?

You've asked why Moses & Aaron to deliver Israel? Why Aaron's tribe to be the priest of the Lord? In short because God CALLED THEM!!!!!!!

It was prophesied that Israel would be sent a messiah to deliver them out of Egypt and God call Moses to be that deliverer (Exo. 3).

Aaron was chosen also because Moses didn't believe/feel/know that he was up to doing the task alone, which God had set before him (Exo. 4:10-14).

Aaron & his sons were made priest in Exo. 28:1 because Aaron was the only one (other than Moses) that was call by God to come and stand in the presents of the Lord (Exo. 19:24).

Understanding comes from asking for discernment, not for theories!!

You might as well ask why the tribe of Judah was the royal tribe.

God, wanted a nation of priests, to show Israel their true God. But due to Israel's constant sin, limited His selection to the Tribe of Levi. During the forty years in the Wilderness Moses became very humbled and so was fitted for the task God had for him to do. And Aaron was subject to weaknesses. This trait made him an idea choice for high priest. Aaron could have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray.

I believe it has a lot to do with what "Levi" means. It means "joined". We know that Jesus and His Father were one and the believer who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. God always has a Sovereign choice and every sovereign choice He made in the Old Testament points to His Son.

Simple answer, because God wanted to. God does not need a reason for His choice. He choose some of the worse people to do His will, while there was others that were more smart, or more patient, or more spiritual. Any other answers would still lead you to, "because of God." "Whatever the Lord pleases He does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps." Daniel has answered the question very well.

ok ryan but couldn't the Goth's or the Turks or the Hootoos do it just as well? I think he chose them because he knew that they would not follow him. that they would for a while getting a big head and then would totally turn from him, which is a perfect picture of humanity. (but I don't know why he chose them still because that seem abit negative)

Jared, you say, "Why Israel?" let me take a stab at answering that. Israel is an obstinate, stubborn, disobedient, and they rely on their own council and their evil hearts of flesh way too often; And this peculiar and curious nation were chosen to bring forth the Messiah. Because of these qualities God chose them they are the perfect match in God's plan and perform their duties as God knows they will.

Judah is the royal line because he was the son Jacob blessed. Judah was the son that became the leader of the family and in the conquest of the promised land Judah's family was one of the 2 that belived God could conquer the land. Israel's structure isn't that weird really, I just can't understand why Israel?
---Jared on 11/10/06

Levites were the priest because they were the tribe that Moses came from. Aaron is the Priestly family instead of Moses because moses did not trust God, so God made Aaron his voice. Nothing special really if God didn't do it that way then man would have. and God wanted to make a point that if he calls you then go or someone else will be given your honor.

[2] BASICALLY, this is the same kind of question as 'Why did God choose Israel out of all the nations?' AND epitomized in Romans 9:11ff. about God's choice of Jacob over Esau! To put it bluntly: We don't always get to know! God is our Sovereign Creator and may choose whomever He will for His glory. Because Believers know of His wisdom, love, righteousness, etc., that shouldn't ever be a problem for us.

[1] Ryan, Although there may be something the human mind considers reasonable in Genesis 49:5-7 "Simeon and Levi are brothers; Their swords are implements of violence. 6)Let my soul not enter into their council; Let not my glory be united with their assembly; Because in their anger they slew men, And in their self-will they lamed oxen. 7)Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; And their wrath, for it is cruel. I will disperse them in Jacob, And scatter them in Israel."... [cont.]
