If the story of the garden of Eden was a myth, then do you believe the parting of the Red Sea that Moses did a myth? NOTHING in the bible is a myth. The bible was written by men inspired by the Spirit of God. It is all true. Choose you this day to believe the word of God. God Bless you.

If you believe the Garden of Eden is a myth, then your original sin is a myth, and your salvation would be a myth too. Luke 3 takes Mary's genealogy all the way back to Adam & Eve. Technically speaking, if one can not trace their genealogy back to Adam & Eve, why would they ever think they need Jesus. This is the whole reason Jesus came to redeem fallen man.

I think the Garden of Eden account shows alot of truth in showing exactly what God intended for man.

In the Garden Adam knows his creator well, and his innocence is complete. (naked without shame)

The things that God created us for are very pleasing to him, and they are completion to man's soul.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly funished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21.

Oke... I believe the entire Bible is fact. I base that belief on being able to cross and recross scripture from Genesis thru Revelation and it not fail. Sometimes I find I don't "like" something I learn but I never liked being repremanded either. Tribulation worketh patience. My previous comments were to show the Bible is garbled and a mystery to those who read it as such. God's word is easily ignored if it can be put off as myth or dismissed as not meant for our time.

Mikefl, where do you stand? Do you believe that some of the bible is myth?

Don, the garden was real and literal. Trust God's word over the presence of archaeological or scientific "proof".

greetings, for many,as the years continue to pass by the truth of the garden of eden will turn into a speculation for lack of evidence and truth will turn into a mythology.the 2 gardens was real and adam and eve lived there in both.the first one being a peninsula on the eastern end of the mediterranean sea that sank ages upon ages ago.the other is near the euphrates river valley in mesopotamia.some say the eden story is a blended mythology but eden itself was and is forever a truth

There are many ways to see the Bible. Part myth, part poetry, part hand-down fables based on truth, truisms, even some believe it is 100% pure fact written down by men inspired and guided by God. The Bible is available to buy, borrow, or as a gift. We must each decide whether it is worth our lives or not. Whether we are free agents tossed by happenstance (technical word)into a world where a life span is the longest time we experience anything, or just maybe there is a Holy being with a plan for us.

Don't forget that one of the meanings of myth is a story that expresses deep truths in symbolic language and figures.

So even if the story of the Garden of Eden is "just a myth" (and I'm not saying that it is), this does not prevent the story from containing and conveying truth.

These writings from oral traditions, allegorical ancient Hebrew stories to explain the beginnings, Why Yahweh is different from other gods. The reason for the sabbath, and why there was sin in the world, etc. They are designed to explain precepts and to provide instruction and should never be taken as factual history. They are blended account by priest editors of stories from the Hebrew southern and northern tribes. It is critically important to know what kinds of texts you are reading from.

Yes, there really was a Garden of Eden. Everything that is in God's Word is true.
