Halloween and christian?
The shame of it all is that adult christians do this, and say they do it for the children. The bible never calls God's people do follow heathen beliefs in the name of " the children."
Deuteronomy 12:30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee, and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
Deuteronomy 12:31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods, for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods. |

nothing. It is the devils holiday! |

What Nancy says is true. I disagree, however, that //those of you who are putting on Harvest Fests are actually acting more Pagan than the treaters are.// The Jews in Jesus' day had a holiday to celebrate the Harvest. It was called the feast of the Tabernacles.
This feast was designed (1) to be a memorial of the wilderness wanderings, when the people dwelt in booths (Lev. 23:43), and (2) to be a harvest thanksgiving (Neh. 8:9-18). It was a joyous holiday when families moved into outdoor "booths" decorated with seasonal fruits and vegetables. (No use for costumes, however) |

Halloween became a holiday with the devil's help. It's Satan's favorite holiday. You don't like that disgusting rotten piece of evil filth do you? How would you like it if you were Jesus and you saw people dressed as witches, devils, and other sick creatures? You're wasting your whole day honoring and Satan. Even if you're dressing up as angels or whatever, you're still not changing the whole point of it and not the smallest you do to celebrate halloween is "innocent". God is boiling mad by this holiday, and it's more than just dressing up and getting candy. think about it. Don't be fooled. quit worshipping that ungodly virus known as the devil Satan. see my holy-ween reply as well for a new idea. |

"As for tracts, it is illegal in some places to proselytize to minors. You could be arrested for passing them out." ---Nancy on 11/4/07
Rats! Passing out anti-Halloween tracts instead of candy is my favorite Halloween activity. Where do you live that the government denies freedom of speech and freedom of religion? |
|
---jerry6593 on 10/17/09 |
Hey! I have a new holiday idea. Holy-ween! Forget the candy and ungodly tricks. People can pass out mini bibles or inspiring scriptures on holy-ween. and evil costumes such as the devil won't be allowed. Nothing but angel, sheperd, lamb, and donkey costumes. No more scaryness in holy-ween. If you call yourself a Christian, spooky unrighteous stuff such as what happens on halloween and the point of it shouldn't come to your pleasure. and you should find this wise. I got this idea with the help of God. if you think you are righteous, you shoudn't be amused by evil fun. think about it. how can you say you love god if you're trashing him!! If you want fun, why can't it be righteous too?! With lots of help, maybe this can become a holiday. |

Nothing. Halloween is witch-craft....We are in the world not of this world. |

Christians shouldn't celebrate Halloween at all. |

As a kid growing up in a Traditional Baptist home in the deep South, born in 1957 all the kids everywhere were dressing up for halloween, it was just something fun to look forward to at the end of October. We would all have fun making our costumes not a lot to buy at that time, no different than making a dress for the prom, or planning a special date, it's all make believe!!! Mainly for Kids, a day to have fun walking around with every one else looking and laughing and sometimes yes a bit scary but we all new it was just make believe and we wanted to ring the door bell and get a re-action from who ever opened the door. |
|
---Leah on 10/15/09 |
I am a christian, and ever since I was a child my family has taken part in Halloween. Now that Im an adult,I also take my children out.Its alot of fun,and it is not evil, unless you make it.Didnt anyone ever read about the complete origins of Halloween, and every other holiday for that matter?Do you know that christmas trees came from a pagan tradition?So...are you all going to stop buying christmas trees for your family? Are you going to stop celebrating Easter?Bc lying to your kids about Santa and the Easter Bunny seems worse than taking them out trick or treating to me. |
|
---Nottelling on 9/13/08 |
FYI, Pagans don't believe in or worship the devil. (They don't believe in Jehovah, so they certainly don't believe in His Adversary.)
Samhain (the holiday some Pagans celebrate on Halloween) is actually a combination of a harvest festival and Memorial Day. So those of you who are putting on Harvest Fests are actually acting more Pagan than the treaters are.
As for tracts, it is illegal in some places to proselytize to minors. You could be arrested for passing them out. |

my cousin and i have always dressed up on halloween but we always go as a bible charter. our church even gets together and we have a hallujah party where we have a costume contest and a hunted house type thing we call a "journey through hell" and a few other activities so i think halloween is only as bad as you make it god is everywhere and the devil is everywhere its just a matter of where you look. |

I have never ever allowed my kids to go door 2door begging..this halloween business is teaching our kids to beg and adults give them the worse food ever...candy..Our SDA church along with Church of Christ next door work together every year to keep our own kids off the streets on halloween by giving them heaps to do like barbeques, games etc..thousands of non church ones r begining 2join us also.. |
|
---jana on 5/24/07 |
Christians should have nothing to do with Halloween. It is evil and of the world. |
|
---Helen_5378 on 5/22/07 |
I do like to give candy to the kiddies. I also started giving gospel tracts to the kids several yrs ago. I put them in the bags along with the candy and other goodies. I don't put up the creepy decorations in my home anymore or outdoors in my yard. I sought the Lord on this a few years ago. Some of the churches have a party(treats, hot dogs) and movie time(christian movie) for the kids and adults. That is nice. |
|
---Robyn on 5/21/07 |
Kids can dress in pumpkin costumes. For both boys and girls. There are also angel costumes and other cartoon characters of the day. I dont have small kids but there are others on the market. I am sure. I think Barney and Spiderman are popular now. |

CHRISTIANS, need to be SET FREE from the BONDAGE of halloweeen. It is a FORM of Idolatry!! It is a STRONGHOLD, and the WORD of GOD, states we are CALLED out of DARKNESS into the MARVELOUS LIGHT of JESUS!!! |
|
---renat3893 on 5/21/07 |
It used to be that it was just clean fun but now people are really worshiping the demons and celebrating them on that day . I think if you go to these churches and have some fun its ok....I would pick out a good nice costume instead of these ugly ones they have now days. |
|
---Starr on 10/18/06 |
we are taking halloween back to do good with it by dressing as good things good people or God's creation nothing about death or fear because God is life and says not to be afraid . we have hallelujah parties instead of trick or treat. we have snacks and games and bible words about light and life and no fear no live in darkness |

---julie3367 on 10/16/06 |
Valentines Day, New Years, Christimas, Thanksgiving, those are all pagan holidays just like Halloween. Do you think Christimas is about Jesus? It should be, but really no one knows when Jesus was born, this is a man-made holiday but yet we celerbrate it and buy gifts for other people. So how is it different than Halloween? Oh I know this is a holiday like Easter that people from all over come to church twice a year, acting like they are holier than thou. |
|
---Rebecca_D on 10/16/06 |
mikeM, don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Not all holidays are of pagan origin. Christmas, Passover and Resurrrection Day, and Thanksgiving Day are all Holy days. And after the new age from the second establishment of Zion, there will be another great Holiday celebration established for all the earth, in the fall from October 15 through October 22 called the Feast of Tabernacles or Ingathering. |
|
---Eloy on 10/14/06 |
Any holiday created by man that will glorify God is acceptable. Halloween definately does not glorify God even if you try to substitute the Harvest moon. Christmas does not glorify God because it teach children to lie. "Yes, my child, Santa Claus will bring you toys if you be good" teaches a child not only to lie but to be rewarded by a fictitious character. |
|
---Steveng on 10/14/06 |
MikeM, while you may be testing there, I somewhat agree. BUT, there are some days our society has set aside to celebrate truely Christian events. Unfortunately the secular or pagan events Constantine merged together have (in too many cases) overshadowed the Christian event. Halloween was never a true Christian holiday nor was Thanksgiving. The difference there is Halloween was (and is) a satanic rites day. Any participation in that day reeks of compromise. |
|
---mikefl on 10/14/06 |
People should come out of Christmas, It is not Christian. DEC 25 is the 'birthday of the unconquered sun' meaning Mithras. It has no relationsship to Jesus, only Constantine changed it. It was held 72 hours after the winter solstice, and was a time of parties, orgies, all pagan worship. The Xmas in gaul were the sight of evil rituals.
Halloween, Christmas, and all the other holidays....... |
|
---MikeM on 10/14/06 |
Jesus did not die on the Cross for us to participate in anything that the world has to offer. God says "come out from among them and be separate" and He means it - no excuses. |
|
---Helen_5378 on 10/14/06 |
None, Christians should not be participating in Halloween. Many people, mostly children, are injured and killed on Halloween for Satanic purposes. |
|
---Eloy on 10/13/06 |
Yes ... Rebecca is right. It's just good clean fun. Putting firecrackers through the door of a frightened lady who doesn't open up to give the demanded sweets ... yes, the resultant fire will certainly clean her up won't it? |
|
---alan8869_of_UK on 10/13/06 |
Yes ... And dog poo on the windows will mean she has to get them cleaned. Even if they were already clean. Yes Halloween certainly brings out the cleanliness. |
|
---alan8869_of_UK on 10/13/06 |
Besides, Scripture says to do everything for the glory of God. Can you honestly say, deep down within your heart, that Halloween glorifies God?
As for Harvest Parties, it's still associated with Halloween. It's a Halloween substitute, making children believe that they are missing out on something.
And woe unto anyone who teaches children to sin. |
|
---Steveng on 10/12/06 |
Haloween is not a Christian season or festival... in fact it is distinctly unChristian. |
|
---alan8869_of_UK on 10/11/06 |
I can't think of any halloween costumes for Christians. It is NOT a Christian holiday. If someone wants to observe it just admit it is a pagan holiday and research where it came from then ignore the Bible and have at it. You can not make something that has been sacrificed to idols into Christ. Read the Book. |
|
---mikefl on 10/10/06 |
Just because everyone is doing it, it doesn't mean it's right. You may think putting on a costume of Moses will make things good, but I tell you that in the mind it is still a frightful night. Most children (teens and Adults) will still dress up as ghosts and goblins. Halloween is catching up to Christmas as the most celebrated holiday. And consider the Ouija board, it's still a game, right? But there are a few that end up in a mental institution because of it. |
|
---Steveng on 10/10/06 |
Satan, in his increasing arsenal of God denying games, is happy when just one person turns his back on God or starts to question His Word. He must be doing cartwheels upon the tips of the flames of Hell and crying out in hysterical joy when a small percentage of people who are Christians are disobeying God's command that we should not partake that which is evil - or even the appearance of it. |
|
---Steveng on 10/10/06 |
Mixing Christ with worldly religions can be disastrous. God warned us about mixing his doctrine with pagan doctrine. Even if you use the pagan event (such as Halloween) as a witnessing opportunity by giving out tracts or crosses in their bags, you are mixing no matter how noble your cause. You encourage kids to dress up in costumes or indulge in foods not right for our bodies. Why not practice yoga in church, isn't yoga good for your body? Let's all breathe in the Holy Spirit. |

My son is going to be a pirate and my daughter a dalmation puppy. For those of you whom think this holiday is so evil, it is only evil if you make it evil. Come people have fun. There is nothing wrong with having good clean fun every now and then. What do you people do for fun? twittle your thumbs to see how fast you can go? My church is having a Harvest party in our church's basement and the kids are dressing up and we will have games for them. |

Holiday for the heathen? I guess I am a heathen and my whole family is. I take my kids trick or tricking and I too dress up. and if my husband isn't protaling the neighborhood, he takes us. We have a blast. I see absolutly nothing wrong with this. This is a pagan holiday just like the rest of them. Beg from others, teaching evil? Come on Jana. Should we disregard the bible when it speaks of Satan and how he can possess people? or do parents only speak of Satan during halloween? |
|
---Rebecca_D on 10/10/06 |
Christians, regardless of age, shouldn't wear Halloween costumes, e.g., devils, witches, monsters, etc. Rather, Christians should always Eph. 6:11. |

Mrs. Morgan. We can make Halloween a holiday for us too. No sense in giving it to the devil. I plan on praising the Lord on that day even more.Rom 14:5-6 Let every one be fully persuaded in his own mind to esteem each day as he pleases. Some honour a day to the Lord and some don't. |
|

Dont do "Halloween" because that's a holiday for the heathen. |

My grandson's costume this year will be of a prince. In years past his head costumes of Uncle Sam, the "Tin man" from over the rainbow(or something) and one-year he was the "lion man" from that show. |

I do not celebrate halloween, however my husband still wants to dress the kids up, so even though I can't stop my husband from taking them at least i offer fairytale charactors for my daughter & heroes for my sons, but i donot purchase them nor go with them. |

I worked at a ministry years ago, and we took the day back. We had a Reformation Eve party for the kids. The children were allowed to dress up as a Bible character or their favorite food. We played games - "Pin the Thesis on the Door" and such. While the children were playing, the adults were watching an old movie about Luther. We had tons of fun and glorified God in the process. |

Obviously, Jana, you've not read our founding documents which are not based on the Bible but on ideas of the Enlightenment--now called secular humanism. |

Christians should only wear the "Whole Armor of God", spoken of in Ephesians. This should be worn at all times. Never dress down to accommodate the heathen. |
|
---kathr4453 on 10/8/06 |
if your christian and participating in such, come away from it. It is the worse teaching to our future generation for it teaches them to beg from others and it teaches them evil is okay. We are a God believing country and is based on the foundation of Christ. We truly are moving away from that and forgot that we were the most blessed of all countries because of that. Teach our kids christian values etc. Not evil, witchy poo etc. |

I do not dress up for Halloween in my work. There are some teachers in some schools who do dress up.
When my kids were little, we let them trick or treat. One year my son dressed up as a Biblical character. |
