#1 Fit or not, His Word says "put on the full armour of God" Eph. 6:11. It tells HOW to put it on: "praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit..." vs 18

The armour, in it's parts, looks HEAVY...a girdle of truth, a breastplate of righteousness, preparation of the gospel of peace to protect tender feet from earthly filth..the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) WHEW! (cont)

#2 I wonder if I can stand up under it, let alone put it all on. I ask for the Lord to lend His strength, to dress me if I think I can't. Amazing, when it's all in place...I feel light as a feather! ... I feel I could race with men and even with horses (Jer 12:5),run through a troop of soldiers, scale a wall. My feet are as nimble as deer's feet on the mountain tops. (IISa. 22:29&34) My enemies look so small and weak now...because my eyes are open to fully see the victory that is the Lord's.

Raine, the evangelist was confused. Man is not "fit" unless he has it on. That armor represents the fullness of the redemptive work of Christ. We receive that by faith of the armorer who daily loads us with benefits, not by works. Without that armor, we are naked and have nothing but our own righteousness, which is useless. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you aren't fit to wear it. If you were fit to wear it, you wouldn't need it.

Raine - We are not spiritually fit for anything that is true. However, because of Christ's righteousness, we are made "fit" to wear the armour of God.

I went to a church service, the visiting evangelist told us that most were not fit to wear the armor of God. I would like to know your thoughts about who is and who is not fit to wear the armor of God.

Jamea you obtain the armour by faith. You put each piece on by understanding their meaning & apply the meaning in your life & your words. For instance to put on the helmet you must have an applicable understanding of what salvation means to you as an individual & apply that understanding in everyday life. I would be happy to share the understanding I have been given to embrace at your request. It may help you in your own understanding. The full armour has been offered you to accept by faith.

I often remember to "put on the whole armor of God" so that I can tell the evil ones that attack me that I have the armor on. If the enemy wants to attack my mind, I tell him that I have the helmet of salvation on. Then I proceed to name all the pieces of the armor.
Remember that the two edged sword cuts both ways. I cuts down our enemy and cuts our of us the ugly parts that the Father does not want in us. This is the Word of God.

Pharisee, of course we are brothers. Thank you for your reply. I reread your first post & I see where I got confused. I thought you said 'Armor' but when I read it again I see you said 'armorer' (Yes, I are a produck of the taks payir sup-portid, guvirmints public edukashun sistim.) When read properly I see your point, thank you for giving an expansion on your original response.

The full armour of God is received through an act of faith. Faith that believes that one is truly hidden in the secret place and clothed in his righteousness. It is a glorious place of rest and refuge.

Each part points to Jesus just like the OT. high priest clothing.
Jesus is our salvation (helmut protecting thought life)
Jesus is our righteousness.(breastplate protecting the heart)
Jesus is the truth.(flexible girdle protecting procreation parts)
Jesus is our faith.( the shield of protection against enemy fire)
Jesus is the Gospel of peace. (we are ready to deliver the message, our feet are blessed)

Speak of it if you must. I think we must/can be Brothers.

Without knowing Jesus you have a different spiritual armor fighting God.

To get the armor you have to KNOW Jesus PERSONALLY and recieve his forgiveness and the spirit of meekness that he gives you like a welcomed guest and not a pestering neighbor each hour of the day.

Amen pharisee. It is only through Him that we are able to put on the armor, impossible without Him

Pharisee, I know you think I'm just a 'snotty little mocker' but your response has stirred a sincere curiosity, will you be so kind as to elaborate.
---Ryan on 10/11/06

You have to see the armorer.
---Pharisee on 10/10/06

Eph.6 says to take it and put it on. I believe the armour is referring to Biblical principles that we are to apply to our life. These principles will protect us and defeat our enemies.

Do just as it says to do:
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,

It is yours by faith. God would never tell you to put something on that He has not already provided.
