Are the Republicans going to lose the mid-term elections? I am concerned how the Democrats could destroy our country.

James K. Polk already destroyed the USA back in 1848.

I am a Democrat. I care less who wins. I pray then vote. Everything else is in God's hands. I will follow whomever wins. God puts these peole into these positions. Read your bible! And we are to respect whomever is our leader. Pay our taxes and work quietly with our hands,. We are to feed our families and wait patiently on the Lord. This is what God has spoken. This is what I shall do.

I am neither democrat nor republican but I find your comment curious. You imply that only democrats can destroy America however republicans must also shoulder blame for their part in the destruction of the USA. Both parties are secular and led by the flesh.
---Ryan on 3/1/08

Jack: I am all for putting the blame on Mike Foley, himself, if we can also blame the Republican congressman who covered up their knowledge of his wrongdoing. One has known since 2000, as this year's pages are not the first to fall prey to Foley.

**We do not know what other behaviors this corrupt politician got away with thus far.**

Is he any more corrupt than those Democrats AND Republicans who have repeteadly lied to the American people--or who manipulate the spiritual convictions of American Evangelicals to get into office, and then ridicule them in private?

Let's put the blame in this case where it belongs: directly on Mark Foley himself.

**We only know about the e-mails.**

Were they e-mails? Or were they IMs? Or were they both?

There seems to be confusion about this point.
---Jack on 10/15/06

Jack: I apologize for my erroneous assumption. We only know about the e-mails. We do not know what other behaviors this corrupt politician got away with thus far. I am suspicious, because where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

**You probably have never been sexually abused by an adult when you were a child, but as a survivor, I can tell you that it destroyed me for a very long time.**

As a matter of fact, I was. So quit pontificating and making assumptions about people of whom you know nothing.

Now, did I say that I approved of his behavior and actions, or that it was in the LEAST bit virtuous or defensible? No.

I'm just saying that he "destroyed" pages is too strong.
---Jack on 10/15/06

Part 2:

Some people recover better from sexual abuse (which I don't think this can be called; sexual harassment is more accurate) than others. If it were known why, more victims could be helped. (This is the point of the infamous Rind report, which many condemned without reading.)
---Jack on 10/15/06

Jack: The stalking is only the tip of the iceberg. That congressman was a sexual predator, and his actions were covered up by his Republican colleagues. You probably have never been sexually abused by an adult when you were a child, but as a survivor, I can tell you that it destroyed me for a very long time.

Or as opposed to a Republican president that supports torture, or a republican congress that supports bribery?

Who has been in charge the last 6 years????
---NurseRobert on 10/14/06

Voting does not entangle one up in the political affairs. It's our right to vote.
Yes one vote can make the difference. There's hippocrits in church, but that doesn't mean we should quit going does it?
---wayne on 10/14/06

** As opposed to how the Republican congressman from Florida destroyed the pages he stalked?**

I don't think they pages were in the least "destroyed"--though this is not approving of crossing professional and ethical boundaries, or sexual harassment (which the messages definately were).
---Jack on 10/13/06

The country is destroyed and it wasn't a political party that did it.
---Pharisee on 10/13/06

**I am concerned how the Democrats could destroy our country.**

And of course, Republicans are not harming it in the least, are they?

Aren't you concerned about THAT?

#2 wayne, Politicians have not changed because man has not changed. Man's heart is evil from his youth and it is the evil heart that seeks the vain and powerful political positions. Not being concerned with the ebb and flow of politics is not cowardly, like mima said, it shows a strong faith in the Lord that He has everything under control and everything is happening according to His divine plan. I'm sure many thought the senator in Florida that likes young boys was a good republican.

It is disheartening to see Christians entangeld in strife over secular politics. We should be concerned with the Spirtiual well being of the body (Which is plauged with sickness) rather than political climates. The power of the HOly Spirit is not hindered by weather the country is ran by republican or democrats.
---Ryan on 10/13/06

#1 wayne, does your vote really matter? At the end of a long day in the congressional houses senators and house representatives gather at their country clubs have martitnis and cigars and discuss buisness arrangements and seek more clout amongst their colleagues. The only time politicians care about people is when there is an election at hand.
---Ryan on 10/13/06

Mattie, like you I am concerned. We know what the domocratic agenda is. We must vote according to our beliefs. God gave us the right to vote. All choices have consequences. We are to work here on earth until He comes back. To be good stewards of all things. To say it doesn't make any difference on how we vote is a cowards way out.

I find this statement by Ryan to be very true and insightful. "Both parties are secular and led by the flesh." Do not overly concerned with the continued downhill slide of our country. God is not asleep, and things are going according to his permissive will, and as Christians we can rest in that knowledge.
