There was times God sent man prophets to do some things in the O - Testament.

The N - Testament where God came Himself in a fleshly robe to do what No other man could do & He had to go to the cross for what was to be done.

Mima what you quote is a half truth. He died to show us the way to heaven show us HOW to save our souls. What you are suggesting is a gravy train.NOT so.You are still preaching OSAS.ASK your self How did christ live on this earth Then apply the words "FOLLOW ME"

He was the perfect Sacrifice. In order to save us, it would require one who is pure and of free will to die for us to break the chains of death and sin.
Someone who could withstand the temptation of the flesh and be perfect and obey God's commandments.
Our only hope was Jesus!

To destroy the works of the devil- that was his ultimate purpose.

God demanded payment for sin; no human was capable of making this payment. God sent his sinless son to die in our place. He did so, and while doing so he bore all the sins of the world in his body on the cross. O thank you Jesus thank you thank you.

Jesus cam to restore. His healing was to restore people to fulfill their purpose and ministry. Jesus' main purpose was to restore Humanity to it's rightful place in a relationship with God. He died on the cross to restore all people, criminals and lovly old ladies. it was a testomony that he took all every type of sin, even the ones that will get you killed.

Many reasons.
To set the captives free, heal the sick, fulfil the law, die and rise again to pay for our sins, and to do the will of the Father.

The purpose of Jesus coming to earth was to live as an example of how we should live, & die to make peace through His atoning sacrifice that reconciled all things to Himself & presents us spotless in His Majestic presence. Jesus reconciled us (brought us back into agreement with the Father) in the body (salvation, deliverance & protection) of His flesh (His tangible outward observance of the Fathers' divine purpose & will) through death to present us unblameable & unreproveable in His sight.

Linda if this is true;"To reconcile man to God, to destroy the works of the devil, the deliver us from the dominion of sin and redeem us from the curse."(And they are true for every Christian) then why are we so concerned with our shortcomings (sins)? Does our concern imply that we do not believe these things are true?

Amen Eloy: "He was wounded for our wrongs, he was crushed for our sin: the payment for our peace upon him, and that him impaled we are healed. Who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we being freed from sin, should live in righteousness, by whose livid wounding you were healed." Isaiah 53:5; I Peter 2:24.

For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. ! Cor 5:7. Throughout the word Jesus is referred to as the Lamb of God. To understand why he died it helps to understand passover, when the blood of a lamb was used to cover sin. Jesus did not simply show us the way, He IS the way.We cannot attain slavation, obedience outside of Him. His death and shed blood cover our sin and ensure that nothing defiled enters heaven.

"Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more."[c] 18And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin. 19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith... Hebrews 10

Mercy:He died on the Cross in obedience to His Fathers will,& dying on the cross He conquered sin, Opened the gates of heaven to us as sinners, & said "FOLLOW ME I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH & THE LIFE" as an example of how to attain eternal life because sin Is DEATH.Keep my Commandments
---Emcee on 10/19/06

He died so when we sin, we can repent and be saved instead of death as the bible says "The penalty for sin is death." THis is why He came. At the end time when He returns, He totally cleases us of all stains of sin before we go to heaven. God dont want a sinner in heaven.

**It is not that God is "angry", but that his justice must be served.**

God's justice is whatever He says it is.

You're simply saying the same thing in different words.

There's a beautiful essay on this issue (not that I agree with everything the author says) by Dr. Alexandre Kalomiros: THE RIVER OF FIRE.

Search for it on the net.

Jesus did more than die on the cross. He first lived a perfect, sinless life, fulfilling all the commandments of God and earned the blessing that God promised to any who would do so, then He offered Himself a sacrifice for many that all who call on His name would be declared righteous before God.

Jack,
It is not that God is "angry", but that his justice must be served. We deserved to die. Quoting Psm 14:3 Paul said: Romans 3:12, "They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."

Ezekiel 18:4, "the soul that sinneth, it shall die."

For your sins and mine. He became the ultimate sacrificial lamb and shed his blood on the cross so that you and I can be forgiven of our sins, have access to God through Jesus and have eternal life with Jesus in heaven.

Mima::While agreeing with you in Part because there was no one worthy to die for the sins of Mankind.God sent His PURE spotless obedient Son to complete this work in His love for Humanity. BUT ONLY TO OPEN the gates of Heaven & admit those good people Past Present & future& those who repent & relent & Change & abide in Jesus by keeping His comandments.NOT any TOM DICK & Harry.Nothing defiled shall enter heaven.

** God demanded payment for sin; no human was capable of making this payment. God sent his sinless son to die in our place.**

Therefore, God was so angry He had to take out His wrath on somebody or something, so God killed God to satisfy the justice of God.

Is this what you're saying?

greetings, jesus said his mission is to reveal the Father.he taught man what was not taught until he taught it.he revealed to man what the past doctrines of God could not.he honored his Father's request to live among men in his Father's stead.jesus showed the true nature of his Father and that is love.jesus is the perfect definition of love.those that killed him did not understand him.man fears what he does not understand.

Jesus died on the Cross as the human Sacrifice for sin. When Adam fell, the whole human race fell. So God had already planned for Blood sacrifice for sin. That is why the Father sent His Son Jesus into this world, to become a Man and die on the Cross in our place. We have eternal life by faith in Jesus and His finished work on the Cross.
