Once a person knows the difference between right and wrong taken from the Bible, the Word of God, his conscience takes over.
Do an online bible search for "conscience" and read each verse in context.
Then, the closer you come to God, the better you will hear His voice and know for sure that it is His voice you are listening to.

To Whosoever has an ear to hear?
This may sound vague or like a very general answer but it's what the scriptures says: HEARING is by the Word of God. Romans 10:7 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Keep your heart open for God's Word all the time by staying in the Word as much as possible through share His Word with others in an edifying way and expecting to be edified also in the process. His voice shall become louder & louder to you as your understanding of the Wisdom of His Word increases.

Many here have described the voice of God. My experience is the same. I would add one more thing.
By being allowed to hear the voice of God, I have also heard the voice of Satan. He often mimics God. Discernment is sometimes simple, sometimes difficult. Getting it perfect is impossible. At the start, God told me I had a choice. I could choose to hear Satan as well, or neither. The decision was instantaneous.

His voice is soft and gentle not mumbiling but its soft and clear and he never yells. My expierience was I heard a voice out of no where and I felt at peace. Its like you hear someone saying it when no one is there. I hope this helped.

It takes a lot of practice. If I am in doubt I ask Him the question. To see whether or not it's me or Him. And that helps. Also, if you are not responding He will keep after you.>>>You really cannot serve God, if you cannot know God and His voice. He has a zillion ways of talking to His beloves.

LISTEN..real close....Your Heart will no it's from GOD.

The best thing to do is "listen" to what God is telling you in His written word. Don't wait for God to speak audibly to you, He might do so, but He has told us all we need to know in the Bible. If you DO hear any voice telling you some "revelation", you had better check it against Scripture, to be sure it agrees with what has been written. God will not tell you anything contrary to His written word. If you would like more info, contact me at my penpal address on this site.

greetings, the possibility of hearing the indwelling spirit is real( spiritual communication with the human mind )but the possibility of hearing an angel is much greater.jesus said, ye have neither heard the voice of God, so can one tell who or what they heard if one never heard him before?

"Be still..Be quiet"(Mk 4:38)Truth speaks to the heart without need of words.Be very cautious of audible"voices".

I like Tommy's answer. For me, God's speaking to me is not audible. It is not predictable as to time and content. I always have my foolish ideas but the Lord totally disregards my ideas. Also the people God uses to speak through might not be your favorite spiritual person.

Look at your circumstances, especially if you're wondering what is God's will for your life. It's where you find yourself, usually.
Also, God does work through people.

His word is His voice. As you fill yourself up with His word, He can speak to you through it. The Holy Spirit will bring things to your rememberance, it's your job to memorize scripture. P.S. Garbage in, garbage out. That means if you don't put the word in you and you are focusing on other things like TV, rock music, other people's opinions, etc., then the word isn't in you, it won't come out of you.
