Separate From Ungodly Doctrines

Are we to separate ourselves from those who practice ungodly doctrines? Second Thessalonians 3:6 "Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us?

We are not to invite false teachers into our homes. A doubleminded man is unstable in all his ways and will receive nothing from the Lord. There is a plumb line. It's not about having a friendship tea with cookies for a little discussion. If you have a street ministry, you're preaching the Gospel. If you're not received, you move on to the next town and shake the dust off of your feet. Either you believe what you have received as the Truth, or you don't.

When you invite false teachers into your home, there's a spiritual interchange there.
False teachers have an agenda/mission, they don't want what you have; they want to sway you. If you're a highly impressionable person, you can be swayed and confused. If you want to argue with them, it serves no purpose. They'll move on to the next home. It's spiritual. Keep inviting them in and you are opening your home/heart up to ungodly influences.

CN exposes false doctrines. Those who follow them refuse to be swayed by the Bible or any other's opinions. That spiritual warfare is evident on the blogs. Those who preach false doctrines are the most dominant/unyielding here. It's the same way when they show up in your home, but they will try to leave residue/influence on your mind. The Bible tells us to guard our hearts.

#6. When Billy gave statements as the one's that were presented here, they were only his opinions. They were not Scripture teachings. They could not be. While I have my opinion on many things, it is only my opinion, unless I present it with Scripture to show my opinion on the subject talked about was true from Scripture. Remember, this is only my opinion.

Mark. Paul was adressing to withdraw from "Brothers", not from the world. He also said in 1 Cor.5:9-11 that if any is called a "brother" be a fornicator..... etc, not to keep company with such a person and to put them away. It is instructed for the elders to restore such people into fellowship, Gal.6:1.

#5. Do I listen to other speakers and believe everything they say? Of course not. I love Charles Stanley, but do I believe everything he says? of course not. He is human and can fail at anytime. We have the right of Private intepretation which gives us the ability to look for ourselves if what is taught is correct or not. But do we have the right to call someone wicked and unrighteous? It"s up to every individual.

Mima, I would like to answer to this question you ask from 2 Thessalonians 3:6. Before you go to verse 6 you have to read the whole context of the reason and to whom he was refering to. If you go to verse 2, you will see that Paul was not talking about at brother in Christ, but about "Unreasonable and wicked men." These were Paul's enemies at Corinthians, where he ministered when he wrote, Acts 18:9-17, who were perverse and aggressively unrighteous in their opposition of him and the gospel.

#2. Verse 3, "But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And we have that confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we commanded you." Every single believer has the faithful Lord, in regard to creation Ps. 119:90, His promises Deut. 7:9; 2 Cor. 1:18; Hebrews 10:23, salvation 1 Thess. 5:24, temptation 1 Cor. 10:13, suffering 1 Peter 4:19, and here faithful to strengthen and protect from Satan, John 17:15; Eph. 6:16;

#3. and 1 Thess. 3:5. So the question to everyone is, was Billy Graham a wicked unrighteous men? If you consider him one, you have reach you opinion, as a human being. If not, you have not taken that step and not label him wicked. In my opinion he did what many have done, because of his human nature of the flesh and many times did not make sense in some area's but am I ready to call him wicked? Never. All I have to do is look at his whole life, and see he did love the Lord.

#4. It is the duty of every believer and not only the duty but the Lord is faithful, who will establish us and guard us from the evil one. As believers we listen to whoever speaks and if we find something not right, we know that it is wrong and will not fail the test if we are believers. Can we mentioned them? why not. We should bring out anyone who we see speak against the Gospel of Christ, if he is wicked and unrighteous.

Rev Herb:***1/ Herb, thanks for the data,I got it. Graham said,I think everybody that loves Christ,or knows Christ, whether they're conscious of it or not, they're members of the Body of Christ**

Have you ever known anyone who loves and KNOWS Jesus Christ and is "not" conscious of it. Hebrews said the Blood of Jesus has purged our CONSCIENCE from dead works to serve the Living God. One must first repent, and that has to be an act of our will. How could one NOT KNOW if they repented or not?
---kathr4453 on 5/24/07

Yes, we are to "have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them" (Ephesians 5:11). We are not only to withdraw from them, but we are to also expose their false teachings.

2/ He is talking about calling out people from everywhere from many sorts of circumstances and religions. Certainly that is the case.

BTW the document is a LIE because it claims to be EXACT TRANSCRIPT and it is not. Exact transcripts do not haver elipsis, and have full quotes. Your source may have a bias. Nor have I seen an EXACT TRANSCRIPT from the ORIGINAL SOURCE. Thus I remain skeptical

1/ Herb, thanks for the data, I got it. Graham said, I think everybody that loves Christ, or knows Christ, whether they're conscious of it or not, they're members of the Body of Christ ...

NOTHING wrong there, for ALL who call upon the Lord shall be saved. The problem lies in the elipsis, what was left out. It begins with I think James answered that,...

To what is the word "that" referring? The future of Christianity? Don't believe so, context is different.

They may not even know the name of Jesus but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don't have, and they turn to the only light that they have, and I think that they are saved, and that they're going to be with us in heaven.

part 1

This information is excerpted from, "Graham Believes Men Can Be Saved Apart From Name of Christ" by Robert E. Kofahl, Ph.D.
Graham:And that's what God is doing today, He's calling people out of the world for His name, whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world or the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ because they've been called by God.

They open their arms to welcome us and we have the support of the Catholic Church almost everywhere we go. And I think that we must come to the place where we keep our eyes on Jesus Christ [Which Jesus, Billy? The real One, or the imposter of Romanism?], not on what denomination or what church or what group we belong to.

SCHULLER: You knew ... Fulton Sheen. You knew these men. Your comments on both of these men [Fulton Sheen and Norman V. Peale].

GRAHAM: The primary way of communicating is to live the life, let people see that you're living what you proclaim.... [comments on his friendship and conversations with Fulton Sheen] I lost a very dear friend, and since that time, the whole relationship between me and my work, and you and your work, and the Roman Catholic Church has changed.

Mima This man has made deals with the enemy. Where and when did this happen? What bonafide proofs do you have for accusation?

Herb: wheh teamed up with the Cathoics and says they a muslins are going to heaven. I ask the same questions of you.

These are SERIOUS accusations, and unless substantiated by fact, not hearsay, nor conjecture, it is slander.

If it is as you say, then action needs to be taken, Can you get the primary documents substantiating what you allege?
---John_T on 10/30/06

This verse is talking about members of the Church who start to preach a different Gospel. These we are to separate ourselves from, lest they lead God's sheep astray.

'Ungodly doctrines' encompasses non-Christian religions - who we are NOT to separate ourselves from, otherwise how will we reach these people?

---JohnT; I have spent much time studying Billy Graham and his career. Now I must tell you that I agree with what Reverend Herb has to say about this man. I do not do so with joy, but with a commitment to the truth. Throughout his long and distinguished career he has consistently flown any flag to reach port. This man has made deals with the enemy.

Just because a television preacher has a good reputation in the eyes of this country does not mean that he has the same standing in God's eyes. Did it ever occur to any of you that a preacher who rises to such a grand position in this country has a lot of political connections to allow him to do so?
---Susie on 10/28/06

JohnT, He may have been at one time but today he is know as the pope of protestants, wheh teamed up with the Cathoics and says they a muslins are going to heaven. He has made a statement such as there many ways to heaven. This was not a quote, but my wording of what he has said. The bible says not to say Godspeed to such a one or you become a partaker of his evil deeds. Do some research on Billy G.

Jesus is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. I am not duty bound to follow any middle man, including Calvin. What will you do if he doesn't make it in? Jesus gave us His Word. I serve a living Christ, I bow before the King of Kings. I don't need nor want the word of dead theologians. No substitutes and no counterfeits.

All of us could not avoid sinners if we wanted to, we need to look no further than the mirror. The Holy Spirit convicts me of my sin, I repent. I'm not in the state of a backslider, so I'm 'not getting saved every day'. I choose Jesus Christ every day. Prayerlessness is a sin, did you know that? Did you know that avoiding Jesus, no prayer time, no relationship with the Lord is sin? Knock on my heart Lord, and come in. Relationship. I choose Jesus, today.

If you are a fundamentalist, you are not to associate with the modernist. Billy Graham is a modernist and I would not go to one of his meeting and support him. What is a modernist you ask? He is someone who will compromise bible doctrine in order not to up set someone. He is someone who will call a Catholic or a Muslim or a mason brother.
---Rev_Herb on 10/27/06

YES ,Mima. The Lord has been dealing with me about this, someone is speaking a damnable doctrine in regard to His Son, that He DESPISES, He says don't speak with that one(the Scriptures bear witness of this), No matter what our "feelings" say, We must obey the Lord, not"feelings". Pray for those who are in the dark, don't have long conversations with them(and if God says don't speak to them at all, then DON'T!). We must listen to what the Spirit is saying.

#1 This scripture refers to 'brothers' this is specificaly directed to the church as instruction on how to handle brothers who refuse to repent of their fleshly deeds. After a loving hand has been extended by a fellow brother and than several brohters and than by the brotheren within the congregation than withdraw yourself from him.

aahhh yes we are! "Bad company corrupts good morales." Isn't that in the word? "Avoid all appearance of evil." Another scripture we are to obey. Why would a loving Christian want to be with those who practice ungodly doctrines? "Two can't walk together unless they are in agreement" (Amos).
---Donna9759 on 10/26/06

Yes, Mima. We are to separate ourselves. For evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. We are to avoid those who cause divisions, offenses contrary to the doctrine of Jesus Christ. Rom 16:17 2 Tim 3:13 This is training ground. The topics for Christ-like replies are endless, but Christ liberated us from false doctrine. We are to avoid it so that we will not fall into the lie.
