Jared, God sent Jesus to start Christianity, not a mixture of faiths based on tolerance. Anything that dilutes Christianity, is bad for it and will destroy it, swallowiing it up in a bigger, 'better' church. God commanded us to love Him first. The first four of ten commandments were about that. This is why the Jews probably won't have anything to do with this new 'faith' which is no faith.

Shift in theology in the Emergent Church is rapidly heading, panentheism that is beginning to creep in. Panentheism teaches that God is in all things, much like the soul is in the body, where pantheism would say that all things are God. You may have heard Matthew Fox refer to Creation Spirituality, and this is what he meant.

"Closely related to the metaphysical process philosophy.
Emergent Church as in the entire planet, which in panentheism is actually a part of God Himself.
The cross involved the restoration of the cosmos itself back to God, they have no interest in individuals who may have sinned because that's all part of the package. Emergent leaders leaning so far toward inclusivism.
Mysticism And The God Within

Mysticism. The Everywhere-ness of God in all things:

"Emergent Church has been further seen incorporating eastern religious practices gleaned from Buddhism and Hinduism such as yoga and meditation.
It should be obvious enough now that if these spiritual disciplines are practiced long enough they will only inevitably lead you into this convoluted view of some kind of reimagined Christian faith and even worse.

Wikipedia has an excellent article on the emergent church. It is a dis-organised church structure that focuses on having 'conversation' with people from other beliefs and lifestyles, in order to understand and reach out to them. But best to read the full definition.

I believe the emergent church will be a conglomeration of existing churches. I expect the RCC, the Moslems, in fact all existing organized religions except the Jewish religion to form this church. The ecumenical Council of world churches is desperately working to bring this church about.

Point taken, Alan. Sorry I misinterpreted your direction. I had read what you said, and then accidently put both of you together.
---laure5759 on 10/30/06

Laue ... Yes I know that ... I wonder if Mima has got the drift yet?
---alan8869_of_UK on 10/30/06

Alan - I understand. However, the WCC has still got nothing to do with the Emergent Church. Just saying ...
---laure5759 on 10/30/06

Laurel ... I was just trying to indicate that I think Mima had got it wrong.

Alan and Helen, I hope that you will find out more about the Emergent Church, as it has nothing to do with what you are saying.

I see that the emergent church brings emotion and truth into the church again. Many people have left the church because of stands that are not neccisary and the EC takes those out and makes the Chruch a community of faith, that encourages us to express our faith in many ways. How can that usher in the Antichrist if it is encouraging us to Love each other.
---Jared on 10/27/06

Mima ... I have tried to find the "ecumenical Council of world churches" on the web, and can find no reference to it.
Do you mean the World Council of Churches?
If so, there is no evidence at all that the WCC is "desperately working to bring about" a church formed of all organised religions except the Jews.
There is refernce on their website to working, as Christians with a few Muslims and Hindhus to resolve humanitarian issues, but this is not what you suggest..
---alan8869_of_UK on 10/27/06

Oh yeah! The apostate church that will usher in the Antichrist and the False Prophet. Guess who will be in the lead -- the roman catholic church.
