Trav: You do have a way with words!

Trav: Amen! Many are so attached to their false, man-made doctrines that they will not even consider abundant, consistent truth of the Bible which contradicts their theories. I've often wondered what the power is that blinds the eyes and holds them back from considering such biblical evidence. Admission of error? Peer pressure? Who knows?
---jerry6593 on 12/2/10

I know in my case, I couldn't identify with the pantywaist and girlie boy preachers who infect so called churches today. GOD placed a man in my path who pointed to scriptural witnesses. I asked,GOD emphatically to free me in truth. GOD and using Two + witnesses, precept upon precept scripture freed me from all frenchy wolf, false doctrine, money grubbers eating sheep today.

I have noticed over the years that church doctrines, false prophets and wanna-be religious teachers can indeed hurt the spiritual growth of babes in Christ.
The chains they put on others in their ignorance, arrogance or high minded cannot be broken but by the Spirit of God.
---Frank on 11/18/10

Amen. Meat. A TRUE prophet is 100% accurate. How can he be otherwise, GOD is with him.
Anything short of 100% is false.
I smell them by their lies, and signs of what they don't know scripturally. Same with preacher/teachers.

All searchers have to unlearn the error these teach.
May YAH give false prophets/preachers/teachers a dream....of their own personal prophecy.
Revelation 20:10.. false prophet are...

Francis: "Some beliefs do lead people to sin against the law of God and keep them in bondage."

So true. Many on this site think that Jesus came to save them from the LAW rather than to save them from SIN!
---jerry6593 on 11/23/10

That is a false statement.

Many who have done these things to others will have to answer for the hindrance they caused at the judgment seat of Christ.

Quite possibly means: christians listening to false teachings and doctrines, identify with this.Which in turn places one in bondage. Sometimes for the rest of their lives. That is why we are to be holy ghost filled and led by the Spirit of God. We should read the Word and know how to rightly interpret it.Then live it out in our lives. This is an individual thing. Christ has a different relationship with each believer. We should know in our own hearts, where we are(what level) in our walk with Christ. Bro Mack may be on a different level from Sis Minnie. Praise God.

For sound doctrine hasn't came from the chain bound book of cluny that has you so chain bound secured here, 2nd.Tim.3 v 7.
---Lawrence on 8/28/10

Lawrence, I'd rather be bound by chains of God than have your false freedom to reject sound doctrine.
---Cluny on 8/28/10

\\God took those chains from me & fastened them onto you & your So Bound Up with them & you canNot get out of your heresy learned book of cluny.

---Lawrence on 8/27/10\\

Are you saying that the book of Lawrence is preferable?

I prefer the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John myself.
---Cluny on 8/27/10

"Many times our beliefs place our fellow Christians in chains that cannot be broken."

Sin does that. Some beliefs do lead people to sin against the law of God and keep them in bondage.

2 Peter 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

\\The devil had his binding chains on me when I was in the Man - made trin relig - org Rev.17 v's 4 - 6 yr's ago. \\

Now the devil has a different set of chains on you, Lawrence, and you're bound by them so tightly you don't recognize sound doctrine when it's presented to you.

In some countries, Christians are allowing themselves to be imprisoned and tortured, some are murdered. They volunteer, it is their calling, the highest calling which God can place on one of His own. These brave-men of God do this in order to keep their brothers and sisters in the Lord from hard persecution. Because, God tells me, that these governments can not round them all up....These are indeed true heroes of today. But, the world never talks about them. If you belong to God please pray for these GREAT MEN OF GOD, who are willing to sacrifice their lives for others. Just like Jesus.

Jesus came along & broke them binding chains from satan & brought me out from them. I Sure Thank God He did.

Mima, I would think it applies to being blinded by the light of a false Christianity that parades as the only way of Salvation. Not only does it introduce pride into life, but stubborness, and wilful disobedience together with the attitude that no other adult (apart from a member of the same church) can teach (you) anything. These chains are religious ones. They make ineffectual all the work and prayer of believers who try and make them see the light. It is like witnessing to the deaf and blind.

I have seen the results of the cains but know that they can be broken. The doctrine is very hard to change, even with Bible proving it is not correct, when one has been taught most of their life by parents/grandparents & "church". One especially hard to change is the misinterpreted use of the gift of "tongues".
---Chip on 4/11/08

Filled with faith or filled with religion.

Religion doesn't need faith in God.
Religion can practice tradition, prayers by auto-pilot rote, washing of the outward vessel, even blog about religion but not have enough faith to pray a prayer with faith. Religion has faith in works but without works, it's lost, does not know what to do.
---Monique on 4/11/08

The Holy Spirit gives us the gift of faith to believe that Jesus Christ sets the captives free from all bondage.

It's not faith that does this but legalism.
---Pharisee on 4/11/08

I have a family who goes only by tradition even if you show them truth from the Bible. They are stubborn in their ways and wont even study the Bible. When I discovered truth and go by what it says, they called me weird and worse off now. They do go to church yet at the same time, belive the dead can talk to you, belive in satans deceptions etc. Talk about worshipping 2Gods.
---pop on 4/28/07

Too many times we get caught up in our own traditions that cause people to be bound up. We need to get rid of man's traditions and stick to the word of God.
---ralph on 4/20/07

Alot of people are set in their ways and won't hear anything different. Some people I know believe what their grand-parents believe and never knew the real truth of the bible, until God opened up their eyes. To me it is called Hand-me down religion. Many people are set in their belifs their to stubbron to believe anything else. and that cause conflict with other people putting a barrier between them and others, and alot of times the true word of God.

True if the beliefs are burdensome & compulsory towards others. The chains are traditional beliefs that bind & blind the mind rather than freeing it.
Jesus sums it up quite nicely.
Mat.15:3 "Why do ye also transgress the commandments of God by your traditions?" Ver.6 "...Thus have ye made the commandments of God of none effect by your traditions."V.9 "But in vain they do worship me teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." That you may keep your own traditions.
---josef on 10/29/06

If our beliefs as Christians are wrong and unBiblical, then they could cause other Christians to become bound by believing the same thing. However, I do not believe that any chain cannot be broken by the Lord Jesus Christ.

I'd like to know the context in which this was said. Frequently this can affect the meaning of one sentence.
