President Bush Best Or Worst

George W. Bush may well serve more than eight years as president of this country. I do not know how this will take place but after carefully studying this man's political profile I believe attempts will be made to secure more time in the presidency for him. If he is who he appears to be.

Moderator - For some strange reason, it is a thought in the back of my mind. Either he will go down in history as one of the greatest Presidents or he will serve a third term. I don't see any inbetween picture.

I don't think any Prez can be tried for treason, other wise Clinton would have just been dragged out of the oval office and hanged on the Whitehouse grounds. If there is any challenge to that opinion I'll send you just 500 reasons why. It's useless to go thru the other 500..
---frank_laroche on 2/13/08

I still believe this scenario could play out and that Mr. Bush could somehow contrive a third term.
---mima on 2/13/08

I can't imagine what would have to happen in the next several months for something like this to take place. A most interesting thought...
---TT on 2/13/08

Wow. That's a dichotomy. Moderator, I believe you are right. I've had dreams about the world and heavenlies. All disagreements aside, this site allows us to give answers, answers, answers for the hope inside of us. I'm grateful that we've all had the opportunity.
---Rachel on 2/11/08

When I read scripture, I see how God blessed a nation when it had a good King. USA has been declining. It has forgotten God. If we get a liberal president next term, I believe God will remove the 'hedge of protection' from us. He has allowed some of that to go down lately. But when our new 'King', or even 'Queen' gets elected. Mark my words, we will fall.
---audrey on 4/20/07

Mark>>> I will support you on that. And while we are on the subject. When President Bush gets out of office, what do you people believe the next President will do? I will tell you one thing the terriorts is going to be so HAPPY that president Bush is gone. Oh, they are going to celebrate all over the middle east. Yes sir.
---catherine on 4/20/07

Wowee, its going to be because of Bush that abortion gets abolished in United States...thats the crazy most important issue in America right now...How can you guys say hes bad when it'll be because of him that abortion...and killing of several million babies will stop
---mark on 4/19/07

God help us if he gets to run again.
---Madison1101 on 4/19/07

another thing so you will all feel safe, If for example there is a war waged in the United States that impairs the ability to have an election. the constitution clearly states what will happen. the current pres and vice pres are no longer there because they are no longer elected. the next in line is the speaker of the house. then the Senate Majority leader. and the list goes through all the elected offical according to rank in the various houses.
---Jared on 11/4/06

If there is a war only an elected person will go into power, but not the president or VP whose term is up. the top 10 elected officals will be protected to keep the country in order until a full election is taken, of course this can only last as the term of office. The main thing that must happen is to find a way to get an election to take place. (the supreme court officals are also protected to oversee the process)
---Jared on 11/4/06

The constitution will not be suppended unless all 3 branches agree on it. If you are worried about it then vote for a leader that will continue to protect the country. The executive offices don't shut down when the president leaves there are many people that are in the executive branch for several years, through several presidencies these are the ones that will continue the status quo until the new president takes office.
---Jared on 11/4/06

Yes, Leon, I completely agree that we do have the responsibility to sound the alarm in that event.
---AlwaysOn on 11/3/06

Good point AlwaysOn. Nevertheless, the U.S. Constitution is the law of the land & " WE THE PEOPLE" have the responsibility to sound the alarm & resist any & all acts of presidential usurptation (overstepping).

Wow Jack! That's a bold prophecy. Nothing personal; but, I hope not.

Great explanation Jared.
---Leon on 11/3/06

Norma. If I may paraphrase, the Bible says "(there will be tribulation such as we've never seen after the great falling away"). Yes it will get worse. A nation that forgets God will suffer. They will be given over to their own lusts and desires.
God will not be mocked. The majority of people voted the moral ticket when Bush was elected, and I will again! God will never forsake us if we just hold on to His promises.
---wayne on 11/3/06

Jared, thank you for your explanation of how Executive Orders work.
---AlwaysOn on 11/2/06

Jack what's the source of your prediction?Who DID make the statement?

How to predict? Lincoln was unpopular in his day (still is, in the South) but 100 yrs later we still observed his birthday. I recall Truman, how he was ridiculed in the press (and his daughter Margaret). Now even Republicans think of him fondly, because he spoke his mind. Kennedy was almost worshipped when in office, but his accomplishments now seen as rather mediorce. Even Nixon wasn't hated like Bush. Bush may end up the most "hated" president, but that may not mean the "worst"!
---Donna2277 on 11/2/06

**I believe attempts will be made to secure more time in the presidency for him. If he is who he appears to be.**

You are not the first person to make this statement.

Sometime around November of 2008 and January of 2009 there will be another attack on the USA--maybe staged?--and Bush will order the Constitution suspended (which he has called a mere piece of paper) and remain in office and rule by fiat.
---Jack on 11/2/06

I'm afraid that I totally disagree with the Moderator. I think Alan of UK has a better insight than most of us. I especially don't agree with Wayne, the Democrats can't be worse than what we have. It's getting bad when Bush's own party disagrees with him.
---Norma7374 on 11/2/06

Mary -- One of the first things Bush did after taking office was to ask Congress to raise the pay of American Serviceman, which was approved. I may be wrong, but I don't believe their pay has been cut since...but some requests for more raises have been denied. Remember, President Bush himself doesn't make these decisions. These are issues decided by Congress.

an executive order is not Law it is the way the Executive branch is going to operate (like a departmental policy) it has no bearing outside the Executive Branch of Government and if it excedes the bounds of the Constitution the Judicial or the Legislative Branches override it and the order is changed if not impreachment procedings begin. Its called the Balance of Power.
---Jared on 11/2/06

continued... The only way the Executive order affects us is that it is involved in the Law Enforcement side of the Law. If Pres bush tried to stay in power for over 2 terms Legally he is nolonger president and he would be removed and tried and jailed (possibly exicuted for Treason)
PS. All executive orders are seen and approved by all branches of Govt.
---Jared on 11/2/06

Leon, a web search gives several examples of when Executive Orders have already been used to usurp the Constitution and many other Orders (cited by specific #'s) that have the potential to do so at any given time. Many argue that, by itself, the Executive Order is unconstitutional, but it has been used and, undoubtedly, will be used again.

Sheila, that I'm no political expert hardly means that I'm oblivious to the world around me either.
---AlwaysOn on 11/2/06

Right on Jared! The U.S. Constitution, Twenty-second article of amendment would have to be repealed. Section 1 of the article says, "No person shall be elected to the office of President more than twice...."

Presidential Executive Order does not override the U.S. Constitution.

anonymous: I agree. Better Geo. Bush as President than John "Shortbus" Kerry....
---Leon on 11/2/06

Mima: What do you mean, "If he is who he appears to be."?
---Leon on 11/2/06

AlwaysOn, for someone who's "no expert on politics", you see and hear alot of things. "I've heard many in esteemed judicial and political positions are also masons." "Someone needs to tell Pres. Bush. He's in a secret skull and crossbones organization."

Donna ... I take your point.
At present in the UK, Blair is regarded as one of the greatest disasters yet
---alan8869_of_UK on 11/2/06

Alan of UK -- No offense, but I think "being regarded as one of the greatest American presidents" may have meant being "regarded by Americans". Call this "ethnocentric" if you will, but remember, the U.S. president swears to uphold the U.S. Constitution and protect the American people. THAT is his job. The only people he is accountable to are the American people... just as Tony Blair is accountable to the people of the U.K.
---Donna2277 on 11/1/06

When the cold war ended, the defense budget was slashed right and left. Navy was down to only a few working fighter jets. Manufacture of new model helicopers ceased...the same old Huey's from Viet Nam were patched and repaired, over and over. Congress denied pay increases for servicemen ...many enlisted men needed food stamps. That was the state of military Bush inherited.
---Donna2277 on 11/1/06

Mary thought you served [and so did I] because your wording did not specify, but now you have set the facts straight that it was your husband [not you]...and of course what happens to him affects your you feel the cut.

Rachel ... Reiter .... What is the "The Hollywood Prophet" ??
---alan8869_of_UK on 11/1/06

It is impossible for a president to stay in office for longer than 2 terms even if they passed a constitutional ammendment today Bush could not serve again. if he were to issue an executive order to keep himself there the army would remove him. And if the army was on his side, then we would be thrown into civil war. Bush will not do it he can't and it will never cross his mind.
---Jared on 11/1/06

Alan of UK -- We were the largest debtor nation long before Bush. The US stock market has reached an all time record... resulting in creation of many new jobs. Unimployment rate 4.7%. When Clinton was re-elected in 1996, unemployment sat north of 6%. What is unemployment rate in UK?
---Donna2277 on 11/1/06

I am not sure how people got the idea I served in the military, because I did not. I was an Army wife during peace time and am sensitive to the problems the Vets face as my mom volunteers at a Veterans Hospital.

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. John Kerry's comments in the home stretch of the elections really helped the Dems. Not. I'm glad he didn't make it in.
---anonymous on 11/1/06

Jared, I'm no expert on politics, but I believe he's able to remain in office under his own Executive Order as long as we're in a state of war at that time.

Oh my gosh, Madison--he actually DID cut the veteran and soldiers' benefits?!! That's HORRIBLE!!!!!! They're the ones who are putting their own lives on the line everyday; God bless you for having served too; I'm soooo sorry our President is such a hypocrite! :( Mary
---Mary on 10/31/06

Presidents can only serve 2 terms since the end of FDR's term after WW2. So no he won't run again. didn't you guys learn that in Highschool Government class? Anyways Bush will go down as a good president because he held the country together after 9-11. I don't think he will be seen as one of the Greatest presidents because He has not done a whole lot, although he had potential to being a great president.
---Jared on 10/31/06

Madison...I'm so sorry that you feel that you are not being well cared for by the government...after offering your very life in service.

---Reiter on 10/31/06

I know that there is no president who can make everybody happy. You'll can write this down, if the dem's get into office we will on a fast slide into moral decay. A third term??? I don't think so.

He's not been best but certainly no where near worst President. Who here would want war in your city? Who wants to be the one to condemn Iraqi people to mass death by pulling out? Who would vote to go full out & dominate so to win the war? Pres. Bush would love your advice, write him how you would solve terrorism. Ignoring it won't work... Praying for it to go away might work but hasn't so far. Look to the Bible how God had His people deal with such people. Killed men, women, & children in some cases.
---mikefl on 10/30/06

Reiter: Great economy, for the rich and the businesses. Not for the soldiers in Iraq. Our president cut their medical benefits and their veterans benefits. Now, many soldiers who return with war injuries are having to pay for the expenses related to those injuries.

I am very intereted to see that the Moderator appears to say that provided GW serves just the two terms, he will be regarded as one of the greatest Presidents.
For those of us from outside the USA, his Presidency is dominated by the Iraq war, and its aftermath, which is hardly a success.
Are there other achievements he will be measured by?
---alan8869_of_UK on 10/30/06

bush cant serve a third term unless there is a Constitutional amendment. I know that this has been debated adnauseam, but GREATEST president?!?
