So, Catherine, what you are saying is that the Lord Jesus Christ beats His wife to show her how much He loves her? I guess so, given that He can only manage to forgive seldomly though He told us to forgive the same person 70 x 7 in a day. Mainstream Christianity has gone to church on Sunday to get her weekly beating and hasn't been disappointed. What a pitiful state of mind, carnal and unrenewed as it is. God forbid that Jesus would be held to an even higher standard than His children.
---Linda on 4/1/08

I am not even remotely acquainted with the God you know. The one I know would never tell us to edify one another and then beat us all up on Sunday, putting "sockeroos" all over our faces. Having commanded us to impart grace to the hearers, His own voice is the voice of grace. I believe you fail to see the saint's union with Christ and have separated God from His people. After all, you have separated the God in you from His people.
---Linda on 4/1/08

Have you ever contemplated that perhaps the reason you forsake the assembling is because is because you don't see the DAY (a time of light) approaching? Look upward first, then look inward. After you have done that, then and only then do you have any authority to look at others. Even then your looking better be for the purpose of finding Christ, not fault.
---Linda on 4/1/08

No shockers in the churches. Noone is walking out the door with sockerroos all over their faces. No. Everyone is walking out feeling good about themselves. We are all going to heaven, no need to worry. I feel good. Do not count the family farm on it. Jesus said, "only a FEW". I REALLY HOPE YOU ARE ONE OF THE FEW. GOOD DAY! ++++

You have the authority by the living God to through these false preachers, teachers, OUT. OF YOUR CHURCH. Make God happy, make the devil unhappy. You cowards.
---catherine on 3/31/08

Do not listen to or sat under their false teachings. This subject was the very topic of our radio program many Sundays ago.

Mt 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

Fruits of false [mormon] prophets/teachers: Showing oneself above others, with a conspicuous preeminence, although they may have a form of godliness. They have an overtopping estimate of their own merits. This produces a condescending contempt of others. Their pride is to be adversarial, oppositional and contrary. Not for the truth, but to withstand, be raised up, and lifted up over others. They are haughty and insolent to others.

Jhonny made this excellent observation.
---anonymous on 7/6/07

Laura: the only advice I can give you is read and study the bible and pray for the Holy Ghost to inspire you in your walk. Millions of christians follow false doctrines spewed from the mouths of pastors, teachers, ministers and priests and consider their words sacred, when in fact they contradict everything said in the bible. When you read the blogs, you see that very clearly. When verses are quoted that dispels the myths they have lived their lives believing, they lash out or deny they exist.
---ashley on 7/5/07

Take heed to what you listen to is what Jesus said. Why would you listen to false doctrine in the first place? Walk away from it. Tell that person "where is that in the word of God? Please give scripture reference." When they can't, tell them it's a false doctrine and they need to repent. If they don't, walk away from them.

laure--I was a Christian a long time before I came to understand what the gift of "tongues" is. I was not unlearned about God...I was unlearned about tongues (and an "unbeliever" in it too.) I certainly would have fled the kind of chaos you describe. I still DO avoid that kind of thing! What is WRONG, however, is not the gift of tongues, but the way you saw and heard it practiced. That's exactly what Paul (who also spoke in tongues) was warning about!
---Donna2277 on 11/11/06

Laure, that is why it is important to try to commit some to memory and have the essential points pretty much known. It is why it's important to know what Son of God and son of man means. Cults use the same words but put different meaning to them, we need to know our faith through and through, and then look at theirs. you can't debate with a JW because they know that "token Scriptures" tha twill be used and they have taught them the false reply.
---Jared on 11/11/06

Donna - Yes. And the point I'm trying to prove is that it is not ONLY the unlearned or unbelievers. I was a Christian at the time, had been for quite a few years, and KNEW that what I was seeing was wrong.
---laure5759 on 11/10/06

Jared - hands up here! I've read it through, and tried several times. I believe one has to know the whole Bible. I certainly don't remember it all, but I know that it was ALL alive as I read it. I wish to do so again. It is the BEST book!
---laure5759 on 11/10/06

Just one quick question how many people have read the bible (all of it)?

Most people only read the stuff that their leaders tell them too. they are all indoctinated and have very little knowledge to stand on to defend their faith, they only know soundbites. Just like all the "false Doctrine" teachers
---Jared on 11/10/06

laure- Paul predicted your reaction. Unfortunately it IS often considered "normal" for Christians in a group to praise and worship in tongues, but Paul warns against it. ICor. 14:23 "If therefore the whole church be come together into one place and all speak in tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say ye are mad?" vs. 28 "..if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church, and let him speak to himself and to God."

Mrs Morgan,

My understanding of Paul's dissertation on the speaking of tongues is that, if in church, do not pray in tongues - especially as a collective, which causes confusion - which should be done in private, but only speak in tongues when the Spirit has a message for the church - and then there must be an interpretation. As a Christian, I was frightened off the whole concept of tongues because of the utter disarray of the church.
---laure5759 on 11/9/06

(I.)laure5759 , The Holy Spirit must be in control at all times, But in MOST churches He isn't, it's either man spirit that takes control, the devil's spirit, or a combination of man/devil. Laure5759 , Regarding that church you mentioned, Were they speaking in tongues during the sermon, or during the "praise and worship" part of the service? During praise and worship, it's normal for MANY of God's people to speak in tongues.
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/9/06

(II.)laure5759 , At our church, If the Holy Spirit has a message, He will either deliver It through one person, or "one person at a time", and then there is always an interpretation of His message , The Spirit of God is very orderly(even during praise and worship) ,The Holy Spirit definitely can joyfully shout out at times , but everything is still orderly, But the spirit of man and the devil is always disorderly(this is what turns off many).
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/9/06

(III.)laure5759 , The Gift of Discernment is so important, Many churches wrongly accept a manifestation as being from God. Not enough ministers pray and fast, seek the Lord for His precious Gifts of the Spirit, and so the devil run's free in their services. It's really sad. God Bless!

I know what you mean, Mrs M. I once attended a church where everyone spoke in tongues. I went and read 1 Cor. 12-14 to sort myself out, and concluded that what the church was doing was wrong. It has completely put me off that sort of church, as I do recognise that that was not the Holy Spirit at work.
---laure5759 on 11/8/06

(II.)laure5759,The Holy Spirit "keeps order" in the churches that He has "control over". Many churches don't give the Holy Spirit freedom and liberty to move as He will's, and that's a shame, just any thing goes! Some people loudly speak in tongues over the minister's sermon(without the unction of the Spirit), and they make a "spectacle of themselves", Paul spoke of this. There is a time and a place for everything!
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/8/06

(III.)laure5759,But many are not following the lead of the Spirit, and they are out of order. Is it any wonder why many in the world view Christians as fanatics! Even many of God's people are afraid of tongues, because they witnessed fanaticism like that, it just "turns them off". God wants His people to experience His "true manifestations", "His true move of the Spirit", not fanaticism. God is not the author of confusion. God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/8/06

(I.)laure5759, In Church services, Yes! This is how it is at our church. If someone gets "out of order"(not being led of the Spirit), for example if the Holy Spirit is giving a message, and someone starts shouting over that message, God will lead my minister to rebuke that one, telling them that they are "out of order".

However, Mrs Morgan, if they are in a church, and disrupting the services, and the pastor does nothing, someone needs to do something, surely?
---laure5759 on 11/7/06

How do you "Deal with them"? The answer is simple, YOU DON'T, thats how, God has made this very clear to me, even saying in some cases, "don't mention their name", so I don't, God says they don't DESIRE His Truth(they get "offended" by It). We are to speak God's Uncompromised Truth, pray for those in the dark, not "deal with them".
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/2/06

but do you respect them as a human 1st (show love) our do regard them as sub-human(unbeliver). if we don't accept them as human and sow them respect they will never listen to you. you can only talk to them if you respect them as humanbeings. and the spirit is the only one that can truely convience them, you can do nothing yourself.
---Jared on 11/2/06

I keep a Bible next to the front door. When JW's come, I listen without comment to what they say until they they start to question me. They may ask, "Do you ever read the Bible?" (for example) Yes, I tell them, I have mine right here. Let me explain to you what I believe. They look surprised. I'm friendly, not confrontational, but don't allow myself to be diverted 'til I've shared with them scriptures I've preselected. They usually listen for a little while, before they leave .

Helen - Heaven or hell? I'm confused.

This blog is asking about false doctrines within a church. Not about other religions/belief systems. There are other ways to deal with a JW than to drive them away - or any other person from a religious group. And we ARE to love even our enemies. God told us to hate sin, but He didn't tell us to hate the people who sin.
---laure5759 on 11/1/06

Jared - We are not supposed to love people into hell. We are to tell them the truth about salvation no matter how hurtful it might be to them. It is up to them what they do with it.
---Helen_5378 on 10/31/06

It's very difficult to convince a person from another religion about the truth of Christianity. However, I ask them only one or two questions: "Have you read the Bible from beginning to end without using concordances, dictionaries, novels or other reference books?" Most of the time they say 'no.' To the handful who say 'yes,' I say "Did you read the Bible from beginning to end through the eyes of a child and not using your worldly knowledge?" They are stumped.
---Steveng on 10/31/06

Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christians. They do not represent themselves to be part of the Christian church. They believe they are the only ones with the true gospel. Light cannot have fellowship with dark.

Helen, I agree with you. JW's preach another gospel, they have a different Jesus, a different plan of salvation, etc. Example: the biblical Jesus is God incarnate. Their Jesus is Michael the Archangel. The founder of the SDAs also believed this about Christ.
---Kay on 10/31/06

How many people have you lead to Jesus with that attitude? just asking because if we can't associate with people outside our faith then eventually the church will die. No one is orthadox until they hear the truth we must be willing to tell them the truth.
---Jared on 10/31/06

Association does not mean not speaking too or showing love too, it means not drawing our idenity from.
---Jared on 10/31/06

Mmadm - We are not supposed to have anything to do with people that come to our door with another gospel. JWs are not Christians. You have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God to be saved. 2 John 1:9,10 says "If anyone comes to you & does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds".

Jehovah's Witnesses came to my door oneday and carried on about what they believe in the last days. I allowed them to carry on wh ile I listened and being a christian, I commanded myself to keep patience and listen. They are absolutely lovely friendly people who genuinely belive in the gospel however, they dont belive Jesus is God but the Son only. AFter they finished, we said a prayer then they left. If only christians be patient with each other and share alike.. the world would be a lovely place to be.
---mmadm on 10/31/06

If there is an opportunity talk to the one/s who are in error and point out the truth to them. If not, just quietly leave. False doctrine will permeate you and poison you.
---Helen_5378 on 10/31/06

Donna -

I know of a couple from my hometown who have always attended one church. They stayed in this church when EVERYONE ELSE in the town was going from church to church, finding someone who taught the truth. They stayed in the church when there was wrong teaching. And now they are there when there is good teaching. Could one perhaps also think that, by remaining, you are a witness to those around you? That God can use you to make a change in that church?
---laure5759 on 10/30/06

deal with false teachers according to your ability to explain your faith. don't just shut them out, we are to share the Gosple, and show love. just think if Percila and Aquila didn't share the truth with Apollos then he'd be a false teacher and not historical church leader. But if you aren't able to share your faith in love, then smile and say no thankyou to the knockers. LOVE is the key we can't argue the people to heaven.

When people come to our house wanting to spread their false doctrine, my husband and I are quick to tell them about Jesus. They usually don't want to hear it. But, they hear it anyway.
---Susie on 10/30/06

Darlene -- I was attending a church once where the minister was teaching things that were not Biblical (and I felt he knew it). They were not teachings that would cause a person to sin... only to have a distorted perspective. However, I lost all respect for the pastor. It was a church with 1000's of members, most of whom thought he was wonderful. The Lord would NOT LET ME LEAVE...until I forgave that man. When I did (and it took awhile) I was free to find a better church.
---Donna2277 on 10/30/06

Darlene, I agree with you. Unless the majority of the Church is together in ousting the false teacher, it is better to leave. It's amazing how thinking that if you just stay to keep peace, that it won't matter. That false doctrine just seems to creep in your mind and thoughts even if you don't want it too.
---kathr4453 on 10/30/06

In dealing with false teachers, first: know what the Bible states. Second, talk to the person in private who made the statement, if possilbe. But, say what you want to say in the form of a question. (For example: "The Bible states .... but you say .... Which is true?" If you have to do it in public, remember, "hate the sin, but not the sinner." Still form a question - even if you know the answer.

If only we could ask Antipas how and what he said to get himself killed. We know what Stephen said.

Jesus called the pharisees vipers to their face. He even whipped them for making merchandise of His sacrifices. Of coarse we can't do that, but telling the truth will get you killed. Just ask any missionary in other countries who preach the Gospel where they are not welcomed. Do they tuck tail and run? No! I say, just keep preaching the Truth! But do be prepared to suffer the consequences!

"Above all attack the teaching NOT the teacher!"

I agree.
---Kay on 10/30/06

I was in this position ,it was a pastor, I left after prayer, seeking God's will for me. This is what I thought of; How would I have to answer to God for setting under a teaching which I know doesn't line up with the Bible,is a lie, and a Pastor who is a liar? I would have to answer to God for staying in that place when I knew it was putting out sinful messages, for any lie is a sin. If you don't show disagreement in some way you become partaker of the sin. Hard to change beliefs , so it's best to leave.
