I agree with most of the blogs. I want to ad the "Spirit" of Jezebel is genderless. It can operate thru a man or woman. It's not just an attitude. Flesh out of control is spirit. If you cannot stop doing this on your own, ("I can't help myself")it's spirit. Repent for any common ground and command it to leave. We've been given authority over all the work of the enemy.

I have recently been looking into this and it frightened me to think that I had been demonstrating many of these traits... It really upset me to think that while I thought I thought I was 'serving' God I was in fact serving Jezebel.....??? What a horrifying thought!!! How can that possibly be- to profess the name of the Lord yet to unknowingly be serving another....??????

The Spirit of Jezebel is a lustful spirit, she lusts after the worship of self. She hates the prohetic voice of God and will try and silence God's prophets. She will be a prevailing spirit in the church in these last days and her goal is to seduce the servants of God away from the Truth of God. She is the spirit of compromise. She may appear to be religious by doing good "works" however Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ said YE WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS, NOT THEIR WORKS!!!!!

Mima, what were you responding to?
---lisa on 1/19/07

Lisa; yes I believe you received a warning by way of a dream or vision.

Donna, 1 Tim 5:22
Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure.

Modesty is always to be commended, but never are we to judge a woman's heart by the clothing she wears. Judge not.

Mima, that's what I thought of the Jezebel spirit, but I hadn't ever read about her in the Old Testament (that I remembered, anyway). This spirit in my dream was female, and spoke in some weird chant-like language, sounded Egyptian or something. Anyways, it freaked me out, but since then God has shown me that I don't have to be afraid, just warned. He allowed me to see this I think in order to turn me from a dangerous path.

This question about the "spirit of Jezebel" brought back memories of my mother to me. My mother always referred to this spirit of Jezebel when she talked about loose women, scantly dressed women, and that's about as rough language as I ever heard her use.

Rachel, I appreciated your in depth answers. SandraW, I appreciate your concern, and did not mean to downplay the seriousness of this "spirit". I had a revelation in my own life recently, and wished to share it, but did not give enough detail. I have had an unhealthy fear of Satan, demons, the dark side of spiritual realm, etc. for a couple years now. to be cont.

I had a dream recently and thought it might be this Jezebel spirit, but in my searching found that was not the case. However, I did since realize that although we are to be aware and alert of schemes of the devil, God is greater. Rather than put so much focus on the evil, we are to put our trust in the Lord, and not be afraid of what it can do to us, for God is our Protector. I hope this shows you a little more of where I'm coming from.

SandraW , Amen!

I'm not in fear of 'Jezebel', but we should not be deceived when 'Jezebel' shows up in our church, pulpit, Christian blog sites, etc. We are to discern the individual who gives false words of knowledge, false prophecies, and would like to destroy the Church. Rachel^^^
---Rachel on 11/5/06

My apologies Kay, My reply was to Kate.
---SandraW on 11/5/06

When we are warned in the Bible, we should take it very seriously. Jesus's warnings to all 7 Churches have something relevant to say to all Christians through all the Ages. We are in the last days. The mystery of iniquity began the moment Jesus rose from the dead. How many a Godly man has fallen into the arms of Jezebel's greed, lust and power, that is so prevelant today. We have a responsibility to watch and pray, no only for ourselves but for our brothers and sisters.

Kay, if we do not need to be afraid of the Jezebel symbolism, then why did Jesus warn us of her. We are warned repeatedly in Peter and Paul's and James epistles concerning rebellion, spiritual adultery and false teachers. I am horrified of all people you would downplay these warnings. Satan roams like a roaring lion to devour. That was a warning to the CHURCH, not to the unbeliever.

I read up on Jezebel in 1 Kings. I realized something. We do not need to be afraid of this Jezebel spirit or trait, for greater is he who is IN US, then he who is in the world, including those that act as Jezebel did. She was deceived, and therefore deceived others. Not uncommon with many unbelievers through history and today. Though it is good to stay alert, so as not to fall into Satan's schemes, she/it is nothing to be afraid of. To be cont.

We have given this too much weight in our congregations, for it is nothing God can't handle. Elijah was afraid of her! A powerful man of God, and he ran from her. I realize when faced with someone like this it can be frightful, draining and overwhelming, but what did God do for Elijah? He brought him out of hiding, and protected Elijah, he will do the same for us. Amen?
---Kate on 11/4/06

Praise be to God, for he did NOT give us a spirit of fear! Rather he gave us peace and a sound mind through his Holy Spirit. There is freedom in the Lord! Hallelujah!

Thank you for your answers. So it's not a demon, but rather a negative character trait that causes turmoil?
---Kate on 11/4/06

Jezebel, is satan's woman. Attributes - unrepentant, deceitful, controlling, selfish, power hungry, aggressive, manipulative. Jezebel uses flattery, seduction, perverted expressions of agape love. Jezebel can be subtle - flattering others with attention to gain ground.
---Rachel on 11/4/06

Jezebel is masterful at using intelligence - that transforms into deceitfulness and cunning manipulation. Proud and extremely vain, Jezebel keeps the focus on 'herself'. Jezebel is extremely jealous when others receive any attention. Jezebel will stand in the way of anyone else receiving recognition, if possible. Jezebel worships herself.
---Rachel on 11/4/06

Rev 2:20-23
Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and beguile My servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent.
Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds.

Under the influence of Jezebel: revile, despise and show no respect for authority. Coupled with rebellion, hates anyone placed in authority over them. Will seek to destroy them and take their power. Jezebel's mission is to destroy the prophets. Jezebel operates out of witchcraft and rebellion and is a powerful enemy to the body of Christ.
---Rachel on 11/4/06

I don't think I would use the term. It's not in scripture (Tho Jezebel surely is). And I don't know what any one speaker means by "spirit"... an actual spiritual entity? ... a spiritual state? attitude? And can it be applied to a Christian? Sounds like it often is. Maybe it's another convenient "Christa-speak" term by which you can condemn someone...without specific accusations that might require evidence.
---Donna2277 on 11/3/06

I know about Jezebel in scripture account. But, would someone tell me where the "Jezebal spirit" came from? I've never heard of it? Did I miss something in scripture?
---Linda on 11/3/06

Rachel, Those were the best descriptions of the Jezebel spirit. I agree 100%.

Someone with a Jezebel spirit prophesy lies, false words of wisdom and knowledge. Jezebel operates in witchcraft, control, domination, seduction, divination, and false gifts. A true word from the Lord confirms God's Word in your heart. Rachel^^^

Jezebel spirit belittles men. Read about Ahab. Jezebel uses her controlling influence to lead Christians to worship a church system that is not led by the Holy Spirit. Jezebel counterfeits the Holy Spirit. Modern day Babylon. Flee from the Jezebel spirit.
---Rachel on 11/1/06

God's spiritual gifts are true. A Jezebel spirit counterfeits them.
'Jezebel' wants you to follow, he/she has all the answers for your life. When you reject their false teachings, you will see a great deal of anger and pride. 'Jezebel' would like to knock the Christian to the moon.
---Rachel on 11/1/06

A Jezebel is a woman who inappropriately (hostially) takes possession of God-sanctioned positions of authority. She's manipulative (conniving)& uses intimidation (threats, speaks spells ) to dominate (control) people. The Spirit of Jezebel is the spirit of witchcraft.

A spirit of Jezebel is evil. It wants to control everyone and what they do. It manipulates people using witchcraft which is very demonic. I have seen very insecure people have this spirit, people who don't know who they are in Christ Jesus can easily be manipulated and controlled by a person who has a Jezebel Spirit.
---Donna9759 on 11/1/06

Jezebel is spiritual whoredom. Read 1 Kings Chapters 19-21, 2 Kings Chapter 9. Jezebel is usually associated with clothes, makeup, seduction. The deeper truth is spiritual deception. Both men and women that want control over a church, congregation can operate with a Jezebel spirit. Personal prophecies are a great example: "I have a message for you from the Lord." Rachel^^^
