How To Be Obedient
Try VOLUNTARILY being peaceful and just (so that you don't have to be COMMANDED to be Godly). Then, if you WILLINGLY/cheerfully give help/assistance to your fellow human being ("neighbor"), it will come from your holy nature/spirit. If you willingly comply with God's two commandments (Mark 12:30, 31, they are ONE/INTEGRAL) instead of being rebellious and needing to "obey" in order to be Godly, then your spirit can be trained by GOD'S SPIRIT....
"it is the Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God".
Draw near to whom your SOUL loves....
Song of Songs 3:2...(Song of Solomon)
"I will seek him whom my soul loves".

Hi, I used to be like that and often thought about giving up Christianity. One day God changed my life. The secret is to fall in love with God. Tell God sincerely that you are desperate for Him to change your life then sit back and watch miracles happen. When He puts the love in your heart, obedience is so much easier like pleasing the people we love. you may struggle with the flesh, you'll need to daily take up the cross. Obeying God from our own strength is difficult so we have his grace. You can read Journal of the Unknown Prophet (by Wendy Alec) about God's passionate love for you, the sheer depth of the love is tearjerking. if you seek God with all your heart, you will find Him. I rejoice in seeing you in heaven at His coming. cheers, A

Faith is not a mental ascent, a mental ascent of God's Word, is a means, to have faith, but, faith, is trusting, and believing, and having an assurance, in God, and his Word, it is an inward choice, of the will, or heart

is there any scripture in the Bible that promises us that we will "feel" His closeness?
if you are hungry for God then diligently seek Him. He promises that such will be rewarded.
dont just read the Bible but stop and think about what you are reading.
study about what you read. look for something that you can exercise your faith on.
for instance, if you dont feel His closeness, then look for scriptures that promise that the Lord is always with you.
look for scriptures that speak of intimate fellowship and relationship, and believe what they say.
and think and talk to God about what you read, thank Him that He's faithful to do in your life according to what you have read.

Return to the Lord in complete surrender and submission, then your rendered mission will be in obedience and blessed.

Gods Moral Law is natural for our nature and relations, for the highest good of being. You can obey if you want, it is hard sometimes. No habit is so strong, that, you lose your free agency. You should sin with less frequency, as you mature, and become more consistent.

patrick: "...i've read the bible 4 times and, sorry to say,it doesnt help,..."
When will your reading stop and your relationship with God starts? Do you really know a person by just reading his or her autobiography? Of course not. This is what the Bible is, an autobiography of God and his relationship with his people. Most Christians who just read and study the Bible have the knowledge that God exists, but denies his power.
Try this: go on top of a mountain, in the middle of a field or a desert and talk to him out load as though He was standing right next to you. Tell him about your burdons and concerns. Ask him questions. Do this once each week for six months and you'll start recognizing his whispered voice.

DO the two commandments Jesus spoke of. Unfortunately, most Christians know that we should love God and love our neighbors, but they don't HOW to do it. Christians know the knowledge of God, but deny his power. And it's this power that it is done. Do an online Bible seach for "one another" and "each other" and you'll know HOW.
The Bible is full stories of "how" to apply what you read. The Good Samaritan is a good starting example. Apply what you read. Faith without works is dead.

If you want to get close to God, the 1st thing you MUST do is to confess and repent of ALL of your sins on a DAILY basis. Where sin and unholiness is, God can NOT be. The 2nd thing you MUST do is to draw near to God (in DAILY worship, and DAILY reading His Word), so God WILL draw close to you. Also, take DAILY communion (body and blood of Christ). If you do take DAILY communion, you MUST have met the 1st condition of repentance of sin, this is so you will not get sick.

To obey God is to love Him, are you loving God with all of your heart, if not why?

Present yourself a living sacrafice. Put to death the deeds of the flesh. Pick up your cross daily. Submit to the Holy Spirit.

patrick>>>I can remember a few years back when I was having some difficulties with God, And I wrote some stuff down just like you, in my diary.[it was pitiful] Just hang in there if you truly belong to God.

Obedience will draw you so close to God. He loves it. You have got to stop trying and doing it. Now, you do need God's help, and alot of it. Also a good healthy fear of God will get you on the right track. Does God ever deal with you about your disobedience? If He doesn't, Question your Salvation.

Obedient?,i dont want to be rebelious as i know God is there and the bible is total truth but these days with all that's happening in my life and in the world i have much difficulty being obedient as i am filled with frustration, heartache, and anger,i've read the bible 4 times and, sorry to say,it doesnt help,i guess my faith is nowhere near as strong as it should be and God is showing absolutely no signs of shining his grace and mercy on me,oh well, all i can do is take things 1 day at a time.

Having an accountability partner, or someone to disciple you, would help tremendously. I have grown so much in my Christian walk since doing that years ago.

Where is death's sting? Where is Hitler's victory? Even in a death camp, Words of Love breake forth. Even in a death camp, faith emerges. Even in a death camp, one person has enough hope for himself as well as the others.

Written on a Hitler death camp wall:
I believe in the sun even when it does not shine.
I believe in love, even though I feel it not
I believe in God even when He is silent.
U used a very important word"I try" to be obediant. Dont U see? Your heart wants to obey even though you fail your heart is still trying & that is a wonderful sign. If I see that dont U think God does? Wait on the Lord. We walk by faith not feelings.

#1 As long as we live in this fleshly body, we will from time to time fail our Lord. It takes strenght and faith in our living God to walk the obedient walk of a child of God. Remember Christ suffered greatly in order to maintain His pure, holy, righteous state. When you received Christ as Savior, He imputed His righteousness to you. You have no righteousness of your own.
---Debbie on 11/6/06|
#2 Even when we fail to be obedient, and He looks at you, He looks at your heart and sees His righteousness. Study the depth of the Word, pray in the Spirit if you have the infilling. Be filled if your not, because the Holy Spirit will enable you to walk holy and obedient before God.
---Debbie on 11/6/06|
If you know you're not being obedient, pray and ask Father God to help you in the areas you are not being obedient. Sin will grieve the Holy Spirit. Sin will quench the Holy Spirit. Tell Father you are sorry you're not obedient, but that you want to be, and ask Him to lead you and guide you to His word that will help you. Look up scriptures on what Jesus said about obeying Him. Make a list of how you're being disobedient and write the scripture down that tells you what to do about it. Ask God for help.

Quit "trying" so hard, and rest in the promises of God. He is the one who authored our salvation, and we have to depend on Him to complete it. Read Romans chapter 7, and see what Paul has to say about the desires of the christian heart being in comflict with the fleshly desires.
