Christians can date. How else are we to marry and find spouses and boy/girlfriends? There are guidlelines to follow. But christians can date. We are human and have needs and wants as do others. We are hot-blooded,loving and desirable humanoids. Christianity is not a disease, people. Lighten up.

Yes, Christian dating is appropriate for Christians. How else would you expect them to get to know each other.

Dating, courting, seeing each other it's all the same to me. I dated my husband for 7years before we married because he was in University when we met. It was looking back now too long but it was worth the time, learning self control was hard for him, but easier for me. I wouldn't say one should not court/Date I would say proceeded with Respect for each other but proceed with bible knowledge and Great Caution.

The Mac Widgets thesaurus considers "date" and "court" to be synonymns.

I say this a lot but balance is the key. There is nothing wrong for 2 saved adults going out for dinner/hiking/a picnic, etc. Sin is in the heart & manifests thru the body. U can sin thru "courting" or "dating". We are clever U can sin even sexual sin even in a crowd by our thoughts even a quick touch. That is where self control comes in & personal dignity dont put yourself some place that U know U will fall or that tempts U, be smart.

Date and court? I thought they were the same thing, but thinking about it they aren't I don't think dating just to have fun is right. You can spend time with friends but it is kindof cruel to toy with emotions. courting on the other hand is more serious because it has a pointed focus as in marriage. I think this is more of what a christian should do. we should not get the "sexual" emotions going unless we intend to fulfill them in marriage.

"Courting" represents a whole different mindset than "dating." If you google "Christian Courtship" you will find lots about it.

I strongly recommend the book Boy Meets Girl by Josh Harris for a well balanced presentation of courtship.

To answer your question, no, dating is not appropriate for Christians. Certainly, not dating as the world knows it.

Alan, can you please explain the difference between dating and courting?

Every on-line dictionary I've checked say that they mean the same thing.
---Jack on 11/8/06

Sue, The way I understand it, there is no difference. God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/8/06

okay, I'm asking: whats the differance between courting and dating? Dating is fine, if it's the dating Im thinking of, just getting to know differant people.
