murder is sin. When man executed innocent Jesus and darkness covered the entire world, do you think that man would repent from this sin? Nevertheless Jesus got back up from them slaying him: and please know that the measure one gives to others, will be the measure that one gets for themself.

Sounds like you have someone in mind. I find even the question horrid. Rome.

most criminals don't think before they act... those that do wouldn't care what the consiquences were.
---Jared on 11/27/06

The problem with America today is every one is making a issue of everything, and don't want to be responsible for anything. We need to get back to where Criminals paid for their crimes, even if it meant being put to death. If you make it public and painful, a lot of would be criminals might think differently on commiting their crimes in the first place.

when there is public executions usually there are several. I think if we had a hanging at town square more hangings would follow. why? like in rome people like to see the gore and it will ultimately ruin the society.

It is sickening that some people would want to watch, and derive pleasure off of the [legal] murder of another human being.

---Reiter on 11/12/06

More publicly exposed exicutions would only encourage "sick" people to do more hanious acts so they can become more famous. Why do you think the arab tv stations show them exicuting americans? it is to move people to action, to kill more americans. if we take the fame out of exicution then we will probably stop more crime than if we make it more public.

I have a hard time killing bugs, too...even the ones that are real pests. Just imagine what it would do to my heart if I saw an execution of a human. Even hearing about one, breaks me.

---Reiter on 11/10/06

My position is: I am NOT in favor of public executions. I can't even kill a cockroach, it disgusts me to step on them, let alone watching a person being publicly executed, that is horrifying to me.
---Donna9759 on 11/10/06

I have absolutely no understanding on how anyone would be able to watch one. However it used to happen all the time, hangings were public affairs, dad said when he was in Lebannon they had a public execution there and many people showed up to watch. I would especially not like to watch someone die if I knew they were dying without knowing Jesus.

I lived is Saudi Arabia for two years where the executions were public, as well as the chopping off of limbs. I never went but it took on a carnival air. I heard they sold concessions and had music playing. Not the direction that I want to take our nation.

why not they put grosser things on network TV. who knows it may stop other people from taking some one else's life.

We have so much violence around us w/out even trying to "see" it. I do believe in the law & executions for certain crimes. I think it would become a "freak" show. We are to evolve not go back. It would endanger police w/crowds & if a "sniper" wanted to make a name for himself he could by accident hit a bystander/cop etc. U also know some parents have no "tact" and would take little kids making them fearful/nighmares. It would also bring a sick pleasure to a sadist.
---Jeanne on 11/9/06

No, there is no point in it other than showing the unforgiving arm of LAW. Exicutions are already public enough. (you can view it if you want) We should not have exicutions in town square. If we did then NO ONE would support the death penalty.
---Jared on 11/9/06

Execution is bad enough. God forbid that it would end up in the public arena.

Doubtless there are people on these blogs whose blood-lust is tantalized by the idea of public executions.

However, God says, "I take NO pleasure in the death of a sinner..."

mima, stonings were certainly a form of public execution...ROFL. I don't really have a position one way or another.
