mary - WOW! CA to IA...that is quite a change. Especially the winters! I don't miss the cold and snow at all. Sometimes I think it would be nice to be closer to family, especially for the kids, but only sometimes. :)

Greetings all, I have missed you all.
Madison & Barbara things will be OK and better. God does answer prayer, send comfort and help to us. I can prove that by my friends here.
I really missed Barbara. Things were so quiet around here I thought I'd gone deaf.
And then Olie... I told the boy to drink my coffee to coat his stomach before trying to eat Gourmet Southern food. He's got those "Bucky Beaver" teeth (Gotta chew something) and won't listen with those "Dumbo" ears.
---Elder on 1/7/07

Hi Chestnut! Happy you are here. It can be a great outlet, a blessing, a chance to bless others and much more. Congrats on the wedding. I know How stressful the time can be, but wonderful too. It's 2 1/2 years since my oldest married and they just had their first child Dec 11 (my 2nd grandchild). Large families can be tough, but rewarding too. I have 10 children, 7 at home, 2 in college, and have full custody. Very busy.
---christina on 1/7/07

Welcome Chestnut! I'm originally from S.C. beautiful country.
I have one grown son who lives 3000 miles away, we don't get to see each other often but we talk and e-mail, I miss him!
WOW you have your hands full! Glad you joined us!
Your Mom is still in our prayers Madison, as is all your family. I pray your daughter carries to term, God bless her. Hugs all!
---NV_Barbara on 1/6/07

chestnut: It was hard for me to adjust to the adults at first. When they were in college, I still tried to control them and that didn't work. In 2001, my youngest turned 18, and moved out to college. At the same time the older two moved halfway across the country, one to grad school and one to get married. Now, they are sources of joy and we get along great. The beginning was rocky.
---Madison1101 on 1/6/07

I hope everyone had a blessed holiday. My family had a sweet time together. Mom is on her way home today. Please pray for her. She told me that she spends the day in bed when she is at home, her depression over my brother's death is that great.

Sorry my friends, but I think that I got ill from one of my holiday recipes. I will get back to you as soon as the stomach problems go away. Happy New Year and God bless.
---Olie on 12/28/06

I want to say what a blessing it is to meet you all on CNet. It doesn't matter if we disagree,we're human ,shaped by life influnces, what does matter is that as God loved Christ and humanity,so much He gave His only begotten son for our sins,we love one another. Love is of God and he that loveth knoweth God. I love all the family of God and wish you all a very Merry-Happy Christmas and blessed New Year. May we all walk in love, even closer to God in 2007.President,moderators,volunteers God Bless You,thanks.
---Darlene_1 on 12/23/06

The spiritually faithful should be shouting at the top of their lungs at the mocking and comedy at Jesus' expense.

We don't go to the streets and demand reverence for the One we love. Steady as she goes.... Do we stand against the times and demand respect be given to Christ?

I hope we will be moved to stand together when the time comes.

I miss your point of view, Alan, and Donna2277, too.
---Raine on 12/22/06

Madison, ROFL. I do like all things British and imagine Alan at tea parties, kicking through the snow, UK Christmas scenes. He is the only 'alive' connection I know over there. You hit the nail on the head. :)

I worked with a really fun nut. Everytime his kid had a graduation, wedding, something big - he mailed announcements to the wealthiest people in town. He would receive the presents and then send thank you cards. Thanks for the really good laugh. Mrs. Bucket is a scream.

Raine ... Thanks for asking ... I am still around, but have to say I find some of the discussions here so hair-raisingly theological and obscure, and some of the opinions so extreme and bigoted that I feel helpless when I try to put in sensible balanced comment.
Happy Christmas
---alanUKquent64534 on 12/22/06

Raine: You reminded me of a former coworker of mine. He loved "Keeping Up Appearances" and would have screen savers on his classroom computers of the characters from that show. One time he downloaded a photo of Queen Elizabeth II on his computer and had it as wallpaper. He even sent a letter of congratulations to one of the royal highnesses on a marriage and received an acknowledgement from the palace. Needless to say he was quite enamored with the British.
---Madison1101 on 12/21/06

Praise the Lord. Friday, 12/22 begins my Christmas break. I get a week away from the hormonal, emotional adolescents. YIPPEEEE!!!

Another praise. I began my new part time job of individual outpatient therapy. It has been interesting to say the least.

Pray for my first paycheck from that job to hit my account Friday, as I need to go Christmas shopping. ACK!!!
---Madison1101 on 12/21/06

UK Alan, are you off on 'Holiday'? That is how you say it over there, is it not. Just wondering what you've been up to. I think of you when I watch "Keeping Up Appearances", on the BBC. 'Mrs. Bouquet, (Bucket), lady of the house speaking.'

NV Barbara, thanks for prayers, God prevented abusive father from contact, and the others didn't get to postpone trial, visitation is still allowed. Only order is for both sides to have counsling . Others lied ,judge bought it,and wouldn't even let the childs side give all the evidence. We are very disheartened, judge leaving it up to psychologist to say what should be done when counsling is finished. In the mean time the child is the one hurt emotionally. I still must hang on to Jesus and believe.

---Darlene_1 on 12/12/06

NV Barbara, thank you so much this has drug on for 4 1/2 years with judge ignoring the evidence and putting the child right back in harms way. Must tell you I walked across the floor this morning and great eagerness to testify came over me,I feel the presence of the Lord. Christina, how wonderful for you. I am a greatgrandmother and all those "Grands" are the sweetest blessing.

Please remember me in prayers Dec. 13,I will be testifying to try to help a child be free from evil influnce. Child begs don't make me go stay with them. Pray I say everything just right, led by the Lord, to impress judge of the need to protect child, and that child wins. God Bless

Howdy folks! I'm back for the holidays and I'm still comin up with some mighty fantastic recipes. My "Critter casserole" is to die for! I was gonna call it Mystery Mush but that would cause folks to ask what's in it. I tried the first experiment on my used to be best friend, Coon dog. I miss old coondoggie.
Where is John? You know, the guy who started the What's up blog. I looked all over the blogs for him. Hope he didn't get in some of my recipes. Oops!
I will get back to yall real soon.

RA ... I don't know much except they seem to have found traces of the highly toxic polonium (which killed the Russian dissident) in various hotels and other locations in the UK and in at least 4 British Airways aricraft.
It is really frightening. Given that the dead man was a Russian dissident, the finger points at the Russian security organisations.
But don't forget the Nazis set fire to the Reichstag, and blamed the communists

Hey everyone. I had my 3 month post-op appointment today. I have lost 44 pounds, which is 27% of my excess body weight. Doc's goal for me was 25%. At this rate, I should lose a total of 100 pounds by my son's wedding Labor Day weekend next year. Can't wait.

I also am fitting in clothes I could not fit into last winter. Yippee!!!!! God is so good.

NVBarb: Of course you may call me if there is a snow-in, but I don't think the weather is calling for such cold temps. We are having over 60 degrees this weekend during the day. I went out without a jacket today. Had a glorious walk with my sis-in-law, and then went and bought yarn.

I miss all of you since I haven't been online much, but all my CN family is in my prayers. I love you Maddy, you and your daughter are in my 'special' prayers. Happy Turkey Day all! Much love to all of you, you 2 Mods!

Elder: You are so sweet. I do know that God is in control, and I am trusting that He knows what He is doing in my family at this time. I will miss seeing my daughter this week, as her travel plans for Thanksgiving were cancelled due to her health. I will miss my brother for the next...probably forever. But, the Lord knows better than me what is going on.

Thanks a bunch.
---Madison1101 on 11/21/06

Madison, God is still in control. The only thing you need to be concerned with is being called Grandma Madison.
Please know we love you and are praying for you.
It is hard to go through the things that you and I have but God comforts. You are a chosen vessel. A weaker vase could not hold what God has allowed for you. I am sure that He is bragging on you for your faithfulness.
God Bless you Granny.

My heart is heavy tonight. My sister and my mother are still pretty distraught. Sis is crying all the time, at work, in doctors' offices, in the middle of the night. Mom is so worried about her that she is not sleeping well either. I ache to see them both hurting this much.

Plus, my heart is heavy because my daughter's pregnancy is still not out of the woods, and she is unable to travel home for the holiday.

From U.S. Eastern Time Zone, I was guessing you were 6 or 7 hours ahead. You're probably getting ready for bed about now. I don't care for Daylight Savings Time in the winter. I'd rather have the light for driving in the evening when everyone's tired from a long day.

Christina, What a spectrum of feelings within such a short period of time. Sadness and joy in two occasions. I pray God will enable you to feel peace as you remember your friend's love in your life.
