Who Is The Chosen Generation

Do you believe this scripture found in first Peter 2:9 applies to you?" But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;"

This was the promise to Abraham that he would have heavenly descendents as many as "Stars in the sky." It was originally offered to Israel when they were freed from Egyptian rule (Exodus 19:5-6) but Israel decided they could prove their worthiness through works, so this promise is now coming to fulfillment through the Church.

I think this verse is talking to Christians in general, so yes, it applies to me.

my understanding of this passage is that the generation that is living at that time is chosen to participate in the continued ministry of Christ. we are now that chosen generation, in the future it will be our decendants. in the past our ancestors.

bob, I'm beginning to feel sorry for you. Your ideas are foreign to the Bible and EGW had problems mentally. The SDA church isn't God's remnant church. Did you know that the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons also claim to be God's true remnant? The true Church of God is all those who have trusted Christ as Lord and Savior. His Church isn't a building made with hands.

"The scripture applies to both Jews and Gentiles who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour."

Without a shadow of a doubt, according to G_d's word & promises based on the atoning death, burial, & more importantly, ressurection of Messias, Jesus Christ The Righteous; also every one who believes Jn.3:14-21 & other scriptures/promises of salvation from Pentecost forward til "The Rapture" occurs [I Thess.4:13-18, I Cor.35-50,51-58]!
