My husband was never saved, and it meant so much to me, to have my mom there. She had COPD and wasn't doing very well. I was so thankful she was there to witness my husband and I getting saved. She passed away in 2001. We found God in 1999. Since then God has called me to sing and my husband to preach. God is so awesome and I want to serve him all the days of my life.

not sure for how long i've backslidded, 4, 5 years? i'm just very very grateful that He's never forgotten about me, He's always there waiting for me to turn. and when i dont, He brings me right back home. The gate surely is narrow, but neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God!! Once you've tasted His grace, there is no turning back. the only reason for backslidding is really not knowing the love of our God.

I backslid when I first became a Christian, for about a month. I repented, asked God to forgive me and he picked me right back up where I left off. All I can say is, that I did not deserve His grace, yet He overflowed it in my life. God is good.

My husband was never saved...

"Life is not over for the Latter-Day Saint, UNTIL HE IS SAFELY DEAD."

While there is life, there might be apostasy.

He that endureth in the faith is saved.

I will just be honest with you, I don't know how someone can get away with it. Once you have tasted God and the joy and the peace that only Jesus can give and then you lose that. It should be ouch, ouch, ouch. I can't think.

My time of backsliding came in 89-98 and I have been a christian since I was out of it for a long time, the funny thing about it was even through I went back I knew God was right there with me through it all..I had alot of people praying for me constantly...what brought me back was the prayers and the love, and the strength that people gave me..mary4964

I went in the world a long time and even when I came back some things "left" easy others "hung" on so thank God mature Christians saw this and new it takes time. What brought me back a lot of things, prayer, love, but "I missed God" I missed my Friend so He wooed me back and it was like coming home once I did.

Donna9759: " Isn't there a scripture that says He is married to the backslider?"...

Would you be thinking of the following?: "Return, faithless people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband" Jeremiah 3:14.

Sue; we are all still learning. I know that I am. If a person says they know everything there is to know about the bible, their dead wrong. One night in church I went to the alter, I was crying so hard. I was so tired of making mistakes. I'm human I know, but still. My Pastor told me, that if I never make mistakes, then I couldn't learn from them. He is right.

Hi Rebecca: I should say I'm still learning.
---sue on 11/23/06

How do you mean Sue? When you say your still thinking. Are you thinking of coming back to the Lord or just your faith in general?
---Rebecca_D on 11/22/06

When I became the age of about 20. I got into the wrong crowd, did drugs, never went to church and hardly ever prayed. Before that I was a sunday school teacher! Then about 5 years ago I started to think about my faith again and I'm still thinking.

From my experience and research demonic oppression and influence can happen if you choose to commit willful sins without repentance. It normally will happen for those who acknowledge that allowing sin is allowing the devil and his demons within your life. For those that don't believe this they can go under much heavier bondage before the devil will reveal his teeth and by that point they may be drivin to suicide if they don't turn back to Jesus.

By backslide, do you mean COMPLETELY turned away from the Lord, didn't worship, didn't go to church, didn't pray, etc? Can you define what you mean by backslide? What makes a person do that? Isn't there a scripture that says He is married to the backslider? (I could be wrong, but I thought I remember reading it in the bible).

I backslid when I met this man, that I soon married. Got a divorce then a year later got married again. My mom, dad and two sisters were singing and me and my husband and son went to church with them to hear them sing. God was dealing with me, my heart was pounding, I got sweaty. I knew it was God. I got up and I took the first step, I don't remember walking to the alter. I fell on my knees, my husband was right there beside me and we both found God at the same time.
