Forsaking "self" and loving others as Jesus loves us. Putting others ahead of yourself. The love of Christ shining through us as the light of the world, to a dying world, and walking in the Spirit and therefore not fulfilling the lust of the flesh. This is what it means to me to "die daily".

It means to me dying to my flesh daily. Doing what the word says to do instead of what my flesh wants to do. You die to the fleshly desires, to the things of this world, you walk by the Spirit, and you die to your flesh.

#1 The victorious child of God dies to live, and lives to die. Rom, 8:36; II Cor. 6:9. Here the words of Jesus: John 12:24,25. Christ is the manifestation of these verses.
He could have saved His life, but He would not have redeemed humanity. He laid down His life and was buried, but a harvest came up from His grave .... a new creation. To follow Jesus we must lay our lives down, not to make atonement, but to serve.

#2 Just as the kernal of wheat had to die in the ground before it could bring forth fruit, so we must dye daily in order that we bring forth the good fruit of righteousness. The old man, our flesh, was cruicified with Christ, we are not to put it to death daily, it is already reckoned dead by God and we are to do this same reckoning. The dying daily is to bring forth fruit and the flesh or old man hasn't any fruit worth having.

#3 We dye daily in the New Creation in order that we can bring forth good fruit. The new creation is built upon sacrifice. The death of Christ is the foundation, and sacrifice builds upon it. II COR. 4:12. Gal. 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ" (this is the old man), nevertheless I live (the new man), yet not I bur Christ (identification of the new man with his source, Christ)." The old man is identified with his head Adam; so the new man is identified with his head, Christ.

#4 It is this new man who dies to bring forth much fruit. I personally didn't comprehend this until just recently. I too, believed it was the old man that was to die daily, but when I saw that I was dying to bring forth good fruit, I then realized it couldn't be the old man I was offering up as a sacrifice (death) because the old man can't produce good fruit.

it means to live for others instead of living for yourself. that is how Jesus lived. of course we do have to take care of ourselves so we can live for others, which is why Luke told us often that Jesus withdrew from the crowd to pray. This was time to reenergize his body and to find rest. it is hard to do but when we do die daily and die to self we are truly living a human life.

I hope you share your revelation with us. Looking at the context, Paul is explaining that he has put his life on the line by men and by beast.Rom. 8:36 and 11Cor.4:11 says this also. To me it means that I will continually sacrifice myself to the Lord's work even if it takes my life.
