Honesty and faithfulness.
Honesty in all of your dealings with others, faithful to God and your husband, family.

James 1:
25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

John 13:16
I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
---Matthew on 6/21/07

Luke 11:27-28
As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you."

He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."
---Matthew on 6/21/07

Are you serious?

There is no one who earns God's blessing.
It's a free gift given in grace by the work of the Lord.

If we have the covering of his works and he is our righteousness there is nothing to earn.

Donna if you feel I stomped on you, I apologize, it's just that the notion you gave is not scriptural, and I don't want people to be mislead.

My conscience is clear and I didn't say anything here to injure you, but again I apologize in submission to Max.
---pharisee on 12/3/06

Stop stomping on others head just because you dont agree with their blogging. some on this site so unchristian..

I do not have to do anything for God to bless me. He blesses me because He is my Father and I am His child. God does bless obedience to Him, but I cannot earn His blessings.
---Helen_5378 on 12/1/06

Pharisee, that was the best explanation I have ever heard regarding the undeserved (on our part) blessings of God. Thank You!

The way to get God's blessings is by faith. By faith you must believe God's word that Jesus has completely fulfilled all that is required to supply all the blessings of God which are yea and Amen in him and by him. And also freely receive them without the mentality that something you are doing is bringing these to you.
---exzucuh on 11/30/06

By faith you repent it is the faith that pleases God not pentance. We are baptized, it is faith that brings obedience to do this and it is required but,it is the faith that pleases God. Isaiah 55:1 says to buy without money the blessings of God and all you have to do is come by faith. true faith has actions but to put your eyes on the actions takes them off Jesus and you will sink into your self righteousness.

The thought that we have to earn God's blessing leaves us always wondering if God is with us or not, why then, if indeed the war with Satan is for our faith would God institue a system that leaves you guessing?

He wants us to have faith and believe no matter what, and in a system where we have to earn his favor we would be left without confidence when we need it most.

That would make the Holy Spirit NOT a comforter but a slave master and a fair weather friend. I just don't know God that way.
---Pharisee on 11/30/06

If God has "created (us) in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them" Who really gets credit for them? Jesus, because without his salvation we wouldn't have any opportunity to serve God anyway.

I mean if he designed your good works and brought the opportunity to you right where you are, and gave you his Spirit so you'd want to do it, how is it something you can be proud of or expect payment for? (Romans 7:18)
---Pharisee on 11/30/06

John humility is the prerequisite for not having God install discipline, not a formula for God to grant us grace.

IT IS TRUE that if we obey the Spirit he gave us we will be humble...STILL NOT OUR WORK.
---Pharisee on 11/30/06

obey to GOD to reach our goals in right way in this world and in heaven also.

God must grant you access ot the Son.

"For none come to the Son unless it is granted them by the Father."
---Ryan on 11/30/06

First up all we have to believe Jesus our Saviour. Confess our sins to Him and get away form the sins. Obey the ten commandments rest of the life, surely God will bless us and our family.

God gives grace to the humble and witholds it from the proud. So the prerequisite there is humbleness. To say that you can't earn any grace would be to disregard that and many more scripture. The favour of God is always bestowed on obedience and faith. Without which we cannot even please HIm.
---john on 11/29/06

Obedience brings rewards in Heaven and closer fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

Divine favor is already granted to the Christian and God's benevolence toward us is credited to the finished work of the cross.

God gives grace and so the thought of earning his blessing is foolishness. When we consider on our worst day he doesn't pay us according to our works and disown us we have to realize it boils down to divine favor and not a works based theology like that of the Old Covenant.
---Pharisee on 11/29/06

Pharisee, yes I'm serious. I think you mis-interpreted my question. In Deuteronomy God says "do this and you'll get this." In the New Testament Jesus said, "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish and it shall be done." I'm trying to get the point that obedience brings blessings, forgiving one another brings a blessing, turning the other cheek, giving to the poor, etc., I think you just mis-understood my question. God Bless you.

Sometimes we may feel an urge to do something or give something to someone. Sometimes it is God telling us to do something. God tends to work slow. So if it is something that you have to do right away in order to do it then it's usually not God unless it is an obvious good deed. God tends to give you time to test his requests. God has a plan for all his children and the Bible can't give you everything for that plan. So we need to keep our ears open to the Lord.
