The instruction the BIble gives us is that we are not to be joined together with unbelievers. 2 Cor.6:14-18. There are no verses that directly talk about dating. If you know the Lord and can guarantee that dating is all you will do and there is no future ties then go ahead but I would think you are playing with danger and that you can do better than date an unbeliever.

What do you mean by date? Not all people mean the same thing!

There is a difference in someone knowing the Lord and one serving the Lord. Alot of people know the Lord, but very few serve him.

Jack ... Some say dating is wrong in itself because it implies sexual activity ... how judgemental!
But I would say it is more than your socialising. Having fun and socialising is usually done in groups. Dating is surely two going out together, and does imply they are deciding whether this is a friendship which could develop further.
If that is the case, the principal of equal yoking needs to be considered at that stage

II Cor 6:14 is by no means limited to marriage. In fact, the application to marriage is not even the original meaning of the passage. The principle is the same whether it is dating, marriage, business, inter-chruch fellowship etc.

**Dating is a marriage try out of sorts wouldn't you agree?**

No, I would not agree. Not in the least.

Among the purposes of dating is just to have fun and socialize. There's more to marriage than that.

Wouldn't you agree?

One might as well argue that interviewing for a job is a job try-out of sorts.

Shajuana, nowhere does the Bible say ANYTHING whatsoever about dating. This is a post-Biblical custom unknown in the ancient world, and still considered a violation of proper courtesy in many places in the Middle East today.

Don't forget, in Bible times, marriages were arranged by the families of the couple, who frequently didn't even meet until the marriage ceremony itself.

Dating is a marriage try out of sorts wouldn't you agree?

The Bible does instruct us to marry Christians only (2 Corinthians 6:14) and so the thought of dating a non Christian seems pointless.

Unless your in it for some reason other than to bringing glory to God, and if that's the case we might ask are you really Christian?
